Buccaneers 28, Eagles 22

October 14th, 2021

Bucs QB Tom Brady.

The versatile and lethal Bucs offense marches on.

Tom Brady was a methodical 34-for-42 for 297 yards, with 2 touchdowns and an interception. Joe finds it wild that Brady keeps slinging the ball around like a madman despite a punishing running game led by Leonard Fournette.

What/who is going to slow down this Bucs offense? Joe has no idea.

Lots of great stuff from the pass defense tonight as the pass rush harrassed Eagles QB Jalen Hurts into a 115-yard night. Anyone miss Richard Sherman when he left in the first quarter with a hamstring injury?

Vita Vea was special, as was Shaq Barrett, and hats off to cornerback Jamel Dean. He bounced back from a bad early pass interference penalty to deliver a beautiful interception and four total passes defensed.

Joe loved when defensive coordinator Todd Bowles had Joe Tyron-Shoyinka spying Hurts. He did a hell of a job. Too bad there wasn’t more of that.

Antonio Brown led the way with a huge catch on the game-clinching drive, and nine total catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Now the Bucs are 5-1 — for the first time since 2005.

A long break followed by the Bears should get them one step closer to the NFC South crown.

    Love to see it. 5-1!

  2. EA Says:

Bucs 7 point favorites, eagles march late and go for 2, most of the bets were on bucs to cover…..funny how this stuff works.

  3. Bird Says:

Game ball to Lenny for sure!

    5-1 boyz
A win is a win although not sure why we just went blah in second half

  4. JimmyJack Says:

    It was a proper beatdown.

  5. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Dean should have had 4 or 5 PA penalties. Good job on the pick, but damn.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’ll take it but there is no excuse for getting shut out in the 2nd half…….

Quit taking shots at Richard Sherman…..he doesn’t deserve your disdain.

I would be really pi$$ed if I bet the Bucs and gave up 7…….

  7. Buc1987 Says:

Ira …ya almost got it right….but the Bucs win!

  8. Bangkok Buc Says:

Vegas money on the over. Vegas calls it in. Under it is.

  9. Bird Says:

    EA

Yah. There was no reason to go for 2 at end
You have to wonder on that
Did coach get a call from his bookie who he is late on

Cause if you dont get. Then you have to get td and two point

  10. Whit Says:

Game should have been over at half, easily could have put up 40. W is a W, go Bucs

  11. Posey99 Says:

When you’re up that far you have to switch to burning the clock. Smart moves by the coaching staff. All the pressure on the eagles in the 2nd half

  12. gotbbucs Says:

Shaq looks like a different player when he’s operating from the correct side.

  13. firethecannons Says:

Defense was decent against this style RPO

  14. Tackleblockwin Says:

Yup, that was either obvious Vegas influence on this game or terrible play calling for the last quarter and a half.

  15. Bucsfan1988 Says:

Anyone who doesn’t think the NFL games aren’t rigged is a dumba$$ !!!

How the hell could you go from blowing a team out in the 1st half to this garbage ultra-conservative ridiculous offense in 2nd half.

    Iggles didn’t make adjustments…
The play-calling by Leftnut was a freaken joke!!

Didn’t see 1 single play-action pass after they established a good run game.

When you start calling plays like this, THATS HOW YOU LOSE GAMES!!!

  16. JimmyJack Says:

Posey goid point. Totoally different offenses once we got up 3 TDs.

  17. Flyin Dutchman Says:

Yeah baby! 5-1 #7 shined on TNF

  18. Medicated Pete Says:

    Devin White & JPP stink

  19. Timbucs2 Says:

I know it’s nitpicking, because a win is a win… But I don’t like how our offense just goes quiet and lets teams back in it. If we were up against a decent passer, it woulda been an L or darn close.

  20. Bucsfan1988 Says:

Vegas definitely affected this spread. Someone called in a favor! BOOK IT!!!

    If I had a Bucs & 7, I’d be losing my mind…

  21. Buc1987 Says:

Prime time games are always nail biters for the Bucs.

  22. Lamarcus Says:

Man Mike Evans is becoming an afterthought. A good stat game here or there but AB is our number 1 receiver

  23. JimmyJack Says:

1988 we dont care you lost money. Your complaints are meaningless

  24. Rod Munch Says:

Run up the gut for 1 yard.

That’s the punishing running game? It is punishing, to anyone that has to watch it.

Yes Fournette was good tonight, but by God, those calls by Leftwich in the 4th quarter, just garbage.

If you want to run on 3rd and 1, great. 4th and 2, sure, why not. But 1st and 10, over and over and over again, it’s sickening. He can even run on 1st down if he wants, just playaction pass every once in a while to keep the defense off balance. If the idiot does decide to throw, he’ll go to shotgun and let everyone know he’s going to throw. Reminds me of Dirk.

They got the win, but they should have scored 50 tonight. Instead Leftwich is playing not to lose with 9 mins left in the 3rd quarter.

  25. Bucsfan1988 Says:

JimmyJack, I didn’t bet on the game.
    I’m saying IF I did….

Make sure you read my posts correctly there tough guy 😂😂😂

  26. Rod Munch Says:

Lamarcus – Evans literally had over 100 yards and 2 TDs last week, but is an afterthought? LOL! Also I said before the season that AB would lead the team in receptions, anyone that has ever watched Tom Brady play knew that. Evans will still likely end up leading in yards. Godwin will be right in the middle. That’s the beauty of having three #1 WRs.

Plus we Gronk back soon, and even Scotty Miller at some point for the occasional deep ball.

  27. Bush's Coke Spoon Says:

LOL Romo called Nuñes-Roches, Roches Noches. Said it like it was cool!

The Eaglets have some really decent corners. Mostly took the outside game away.

What’s up with OJ? New achilles, new man. I literally don’t remember ever seeing him play this big. Strong. Stiff arms and breaking tackles. Taking on linebackers. Guys don’t usually flip the switch like that. I hope it’s for real and not an aberration. I literally thought of Gronk when I saw him throw that stiff-arm.

  28. Bertorican Says:

Very suspicious of the Bucs to win by 6 and not cover the spread. Going for it on 4 & 2 with that lead with what looked like a pretty crap play call. I’m growing increasingly concerned with all the legalized sports betting and how much advertising I see for it when I watch football.

  29. Denny Gay Says:

I hate that 4th and 2 call.. They do it all the time. No risk it no biscuit. But fans just get the first down. 2 yards.

  30. Bangkok Buc Says:

Vegas wins……Glad Bucs got the win but the way the Iggles not only covered but the under as well…..makes me think this league is totally corrupt.

  31. JimmyJack Says:

1988…..So you didnt bet on the game but you are following the points spread? That sounds like a bizarre thing to be thinking about during a game. Is it some kind of study you are doing?

  32. Bucsfan1988 Says:

    Totally agree Bertorican!!!

    It was sooooooo obvious….

  33. Coburn Says:

I felt like late in game every time I looked on key downs and where our run coverage failed vita wasn’t in there. Took him out too much near the end and cost us

  34. Joe Says:

LOL Romo called Nuñes-Roches, Roches Noches. Said it like it was cool!

    He did that Sunday?

  35. Buc4evr Says:

Agree on 4th and 2. Just run Lenny.

  36. Bucsfan1988 Says:

JimmyJack, yes I’m a freaken genius!

    Thanks for your question!!

Nooo, just saw the spread earlier and then the Iggles mysteriously go for 2 points on an obvious extra point try to cut it to 6 points….makes no sense, sooooooo….

    That’s when it became fishy…

  37. Mike C Says:

This was a road Thursday night game against a team that isn’t terrible, and the Bucs got some help from the refs but overall outplayed the opponent on the way to a 5-1 record. Tampa is one of the best teams in the league. Soak it up Buc fans, these are the times we could have only dreamed about years ago.

  38. August 1976 Buc Says:

Hey Rod what about this, I stated this in a post before.

Yeah BL loves to waste 1st downs it seems to many times,

BUT Brady was playing Checkdown Charlie alot, when he could have done other plays. What’s up with that?

We cant put that on BL. That’s Brady choice.

I repeat Brady was playing Checkdown Charlie on many plays, where usually he throws to someone farther down the field.

And it is crazy, on the 4th down suddenly Brady goes longer when a simple quick pass for 3-5 yards would have been an easy 1st down.

We have all seen to many wasted first downs over the last 3 years from a BL led offense , BUT TB12 is the one who went Checkdown Charlie way to much for my liking.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  39. JimmyJack Says:

The decision to got for that 4th and 2 was tough. The spot of the field really says to go for it. But a TD lead is a wierd spot to take a risk. Thats one that can be 2nd guessed either way.

  40. Colonel Angus Says:

Bucs Defense over last 3 games giving up 269.3yds per game, 18.6pts per game, have 9 sacks and forced 5 turnovers. Haven’t exactly played top notch offenses, but a hell of a lot better than the first 3 games. Got a mini bye, 2 more games and then our regular bye. Let’s get our D healthy and get rolling for the 2nd half of season.

  41. Redwarrior68 Says:

Jalen Hurts … 113 yards passing.
    Bucks penalties 120 yards?

  42. JimmyJack Says:

1988. Down by 14 going for 2 is a definite. They were down by less then a TD so itd a great decision if they got the ball back.

If you miss the 2pt its still a solid call because you still have the tie in play………Either way its a great situation to be in for a desperate team down 14 one play prior.

  43. Bush's Coke Spoon Says:

    Joe Says:
    “He did that Sunday?”
    .
    .

    Oops. I mean Troy Altman.

  44. Bush's Coke Spoon Says:

    Bertorican Says:
“I’m growing increasingly concerned with all the legalized sports betting and how much advertising I see for it when I watch football.”
    .
    .

Yup. There’s a reason why it used to be illegal. It’s another sign of the corrupt times we are having thrust upon us.

  45. Bucsfan1988 Says:

JimmyJack, when you down by 14 playing at home and you score TD with 6 minutes left, you kick extra point..

    Going for 2 does nothing….

You are cool with a tie taking it into overtime when you at home….

Like I said, Vegas called in a favor…

Seems like a ton of other folks also agree with the Vegas impact & not covering the over….

  46. TommyLikeWingy Says:

Dominant we were not, in the second half. Leftwich went Melba Toast on offense and nearly cost us the game. But I’ll take the win. I was 29 last time we were 5-1 after the first six games. The 45 year old version of me is loving every minute of it.

Rest up and be ready for da bears. 6-1 sounds mighty good to me.

Then the slimy Saints. I hope Brady understands how important that game will be going into the break.

    LFG!!!!

  47. JimmyJack Says:

1988. How could you pissibly say going for 2 does nothing? It literally puts them in pisition to score 7 and win. Its a win over a tie.

So you are saying a win over a tie is nothing? That makes no sense whatsoever.

And if you miss it puts you down by 8. OT is still in play so you are still in a good position.

TBH going for 2 when down 14 is the smartest time to go for it. I’ve thought that for like 25 years whenever that Louville coach did it and absolutley stole a win. Im suprized most fans dont realize you always go for 2 in that spot.

  48. firethecannons Says:

main thing is a much needed 10 days till next action! get some rest! Go Bucs!

  49. BuccaneEric75 Says:

    Really

  50. Bucsfan1988 Says:

    JimmyJack, ohhh soooooo wrong bro!!
Even Joe Buck & Aikman were like WTF when they didn’t kick the extra point.
You could tell it by their responses, lol…

    If you’re a road team then yes…
Home Team??? Why the hell? Especially with plenty of time on the clock still….

  51. JimmyJack Says:

1988 the math dicates. Its simply the smartest 2 pointer in football. Sorry but there is no other situation I know of that has a better risk/reward ratio.

The absolute worst case is you miss, stop, score and miss again to lose. Why worry about then when they literally were one play away from taking the lead.

Home field advantage dont come into play for an extra point try where you still need 4 different things to still happen to go to a 50% coinflip……..The 2pt acually gives then many many more ways to pull off a win.

  52. HC Grover Says:

Bucs could of scored at the end but took the knee.

  53. Ed Says:

A tale of 2 halves. Dominated first half. Bucs shut themselves down offensively in the second half. Worst playcalling in second half. They cruised to the win. Perhaps with 21-7 lead they dialed back the playcalling and used the second half to run out the clock.

Brady was getting hit more than usual, Alex Cappa had a bad night. BL shut down the offense and left Philly with no major injuries to any of the offensive weapons.

The Bucs are running 2 very expensive decoys out there in Evans and Godwin.
