Bruce Arians: Pre-Snap Penalties Simply Concentration

October 6th, 2021

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

Bruce Arians was talking today and aside from answering questions about injuries and cornerbacks — there were many — he talked about his team using its head, specifically on offense.

The Bucs cut down on pre-snap penalties Sunday night and Arians hopes, like he did after the Chicago game last year where Bucs beat Bucs in a flag-filled contest, the pre-snap penalty habit is behind them.

Arians said it’s a matter of a player using his head.

“We had one that was really not a penalty,” Arians deadpanned this morning. “That was a major emphasis last week: Protect the football and take it away.

“Eliminate mental errors. … Pre-snap penalties is just concentration. It’s an effort by the players to eliminatre it because coaches talk about it all the time.”

Bingo. Illegal procedure or illegal motion or too many men on the field is just playing with your head up your tailpipe.

Joe thinks Arians term of “Bucs beating Bucs” is perfect for pre-snap, headcase penalties.
