Another Hall Of Fame WR

October 20th, 2021

The best?

Bucs receiver Mike Evans is a Hall of Fame receiver. He may not make fantasy footballers drool but he does make NFL defensive coordinators lose sleep.

When you put up numbers and break a record held by Randy Moss, that’s Hall of Fame in Joe’s eyes. Heck, Evans already has a display in the Hall of Fame for his record of seven consecutive seasons of 1,000 or more receiving yards to start a career.

Now the way another Bucs receiver is playing may propel him back into surefire Hall of Fame status even though he tried to Pearl Harbor his own career.

That would be furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown.

He has played so well on a team totally loaded with some of the best pass catchers the NFL has ever seen. And Brown, types Cody Benjamin of CBS, may be the best of the Bucs receivers.

Currently, Brown trails Evans (420) by two yards receiving despite playing one less game. Brown is tied with foot-rubbing, car-littering, film guru tight end Rob Gronkowski and Evans with four touchdowns. He leads the Bucs at 14.4 yards per catch while Evans is second at 13.5.

Yeah, one could make a case that Brown is the Bucs’ best receiver. Joe can’t go that far but he’s right up there with Evans.

The cool thing about this is Brown’s career was considered dead after he quit on the Steelers, went mental on Chucky and the Raiders and got thrown off the Belicheats.

He was saved by the Bucs and salad-bar-hating, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

And in the process, Brown may have revived his quest to reach Canton.

Evans no chance of Hall of Fame. AB not going in either. Move along please…….

  2. zzbuc Says:

Medicated Pete, you wanna bet ME13 is going to the hall of fame?

  3. Jody Says:

    Pete,

You are clearly off your rocker.
Did your cheese fall off your cracker?
Are few beers short of a six pack?
You clearly aren’t the sharpest tool in the shed.

  4. adam from ny Says:

what about ABs little venting situation after every single catch…

where he carries on for about 10 seconds yelling and flexing at the world and everyone around him…

he does the same exact thing after every single reception…

it’s a little crazy but it works for him and it’s his thing…

personally i think it’s like a release for him, and since he does it on the field, it sorta keeps him from tossing bikes and chairs off the field…

    it’s a good thing…

Pete, not sure about Evan’s but Brown is a 7 time 1st string probowler with 2 SB’s under his belt. He is by far the best Bucs receiver on technique alone. A definite HOFer.

  6. Medicated Pete Says:

Mike Evans CAN’T EVEN make the Pro Bowl!!!!!!! Zero chance Hall of Fame.

  7. Hodad Says:

Zero chance Pete is on his meds this morning.

  8. adam from ny Says:

also TB loves AB because he like a master of knowing how to settle into space when routes are breaking down…

these 2 together are on a bit of a different level than brady/godwin and brady/evans…

they’re kind of on the brady/gronk level of being on the same page on the field…

AB, fantastic/bad a$$ player, love the guy. I hope he makes the HoF, well deserved.

  10. August 1976 Buc Says:

Joe AB displayed a level, another gear that Mike and Chris have not shown on that 80+ yard TD catch against Miami. That is on another level. AB is the best reciever on the Bucs. I mentioned in a previous post that I thought AB seemed to be back on track for the HOF. If he stays on this late career path I believe he gets in. Time will tell. I hope he can finish his career strong.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  11. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

Adam- I’ve thought the same thing. I’ve wondered if this is the one thing AB has in his life that he is extremely successful at. The way he goes after a catch, I would bet football is his everything. I love having him here. He is playing great. Go AB and Go Bucs!!

  12. Medicated Pete Says:

Evans barely averaging 60yds per game is NEVER getting him into Canton Ohio. Lol

  13. MattSpy05 Says:

Remember when everyone posted videos of themselves burning Mike Evans jersey? Good times….

  14. Mike C Says:

Pete…. 17 x 60 is a 1,000 yard season…. and at this rate 10+ TD not to mention the hidden PI yardage.

  15. Youngbucs Says:

Pete you talking pro bowls lol I can name plenty players that have a pro bowl it’s bull. Start with not America’s QB 3-4 alternate fake pro bowl and no way kyler over Brady last season it’s a joke.

  16. zzbuc Says:

@MattSpy05, I Keep on saying this…ME13 is one of the best Bucs ever…..I wish he will be a Buc forever……… And the ones who burned Evans jerseys should recieve the same medication as Pete….

  17. Medicated Pete Says:

Mike Evans will have less than 100 td’s & 10,000yds when he retires. Zero chance for Hall of Fame. Not even a nominee

  18. Mike C Says:

And with the other receiving threats on this team to throw to, if he wasn’t hall material, he would not get the ball at all.

  19. Mike C Says:

Haha not 10,000? He is almost at 9!

  20. Medicated Pete Says:

    @Mike C

    1000 catches….Pete meant

  21. Lamarcus Says:

Idk about ME13 but he’s still early in his career. Ab is a HOF

  22. Vsyl Says:

Breaking Moss record, and some superbowls is more than enough reason for HoF. Only a crazy would disagree

  23. August 1976 Buc Says:

Unless you are on the HOF selection committee in year 5 after Mike retires, you cannot say with real assurance that he will get in or not get in. Some get in and some do not for various reasons. You never know what these voters are thinking. It took John Lynch way longer than I thought. I said to John in 2003 in front of 1 Buc Place, (the Woodshed) that he would be going to the hall 1 day. Well that day took way to long BUT… He got in. So time will tell with Mike.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  24. Listnfrmafar Says:

Not dissing Evan’s or Godwin, fantastic receivers but AB is next level. In Eagles game when Brady rolled out twice AB knew exactly where to go and the reception behind him covered like a blanket, top notch.

  25. Neal Says:

Y’all realize Pete just says this stuff because no one will talk to him otherwise right?

  26. Sparky Says:

AB has better chemistry with TB12, that doesn’t make him a better WR. He’s also a bit faster than Evans. But Evans has a good 7″ inches height on him. How quickly some of you seem to have forgotten everything ME has done for this team over the years. They are different, and they are both ours, so I don’t see any value in ranking them really.
And yes if Mike’s career keeps going the way it has, he SHOULD be in the HoF. AB also, assuming his off the field stuff doesn’t ruin his chances.

Hasn’t everyone learned yet to just ignore the drugged up Pete guy thats yanking your chains for fun?

While I agree with you that TB12 likes AB because he likes a master when a route breaks down. That is the same reason that Tom threw his last Int. But that also is just me nit-picking lol.

  28. Listnfrmafar Says:

Some are you are taking this personal. No one is saying Evan’s and or Godwin are elite receivers but anyone that knows football can see the difference of how AB catches the ball then his movement after. Brady doesn’t go to him because he’s his buddy, he goes to him because he is reliable. He played one game for Patriots and had 5 catches & a TD. There is a reason Brady pleaded to BA for him.

  29. Kentucky Buc Says:

I just know what my eyes tell me. That triple move to the back shoulder throw that AB does is unguardable. Never seen it done that fast by anyone.

  30. crazyBucs_CL Says:

AB is number one in our roster. I would say then CG is closer to AB level, than ME is.
CG is getting better, ME is just staying the same, with the same rate of success/failure he always is been. I too much anger inside ME, and sometime he can’t control it, hurting the play/game.
IMO ME is not HoF material, CG could be, AB definitely already is.

  31. adam from ny Says:

the situation with ME13 that isn’t really talked about is his “go up and get it” ability…

with jameis, mike was asked often to go up and get balls …

with tom, it just doesn’t seem to be that way…

if someone is going up to get it for tom, it will generally be gronk…

maybe tom doesn’t want to dirty up his stats with potential ints since he and mike aren’t always on the same page…

for instance, inside say the 15 yard line, jameis would do those high by the goal post throws to mike or even cam brate…you do not see that really in the playbook with tom…

i’m scrutinizing nothing here…just pointing out that the go up and get it plays to mike in the end zone and by the sidelines were sorta tossed out of the playbook with the departure of jameis…

one thing for sure is mike has made some wildly incredible high sideline grabs over the years…

maybe they are just keeping these plays in their back pocket for now…who knows

  32. Darin Says:

Pete takes too much estrogen. And lets not get goo goo over Brown just yet. He’s been a good boy so far but only takes him once more before it all goes away.

  33. Listnfrmafar Says:

Adam, you answered your own question. TB12 isn’t going to risk it. He made that mistake in the Seattle SB and AFC Championship game against KC. Corner routes less traffic equals less chance for the int. Hence Winston’s turnover rate.

  34. Buczilla Says:

Mike has a unique record and even the (mostly) unethical, brain dead, folks that comprise the hof “good ole boy network” voters are drawn to things that have never been done before in the 101 year history of the league. Barring injury and if he keeps up his brilliance, Mike is a lock even with that (mostly) sorry lot doing the voting.

Mike is one of my favorite Bucs of all time, but Brown in his prime is better than Mike in his prime. No shame in coming in second to Brown as the best two receivers of their generation.

  35. E.V. Says:

How long did Evans play with Winston Churchill???? Winston missed Evans on at least 30 touchdowns. Evans used to be so wide open with Winston and easily could of had 1500 yards plus 10 plus touchdowns a game and for some reason Brady overthrows him alot. Especially when he’s wide open on the deep ball. Just don’t get why…

  36. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

To me, Pro Bowls should count for nothing. The Hall of Fame is about elite play…and the Pro Bowl is about Elite popularity.

The Pro Bowl SHOULD be about quality, but it isn’t. And it hasn’t been since the fans were given the right to vote…as many times as they want.

Hall of Fame should remain clean…put people in when they deserve it. Including pro bowl appearances turns it into a popularity thing.

  37. lambchop Says:

Saying that M1k3 and AB aren’t HOFers makes me wonder how that moron commenting drives, with such poor judgment.
