Ugly Injury For Sean Murphy-Bunting

September 9th, 2021

Cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting injured his right elbow in the second quarter tonight against Dallas.

So just from the looks of it, the Bucs might be without starting corner Sean Murphy-Bunting for a while.

Late in the first quarter Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott hit CeeDee Lamb along the left sideline after Lamb got a step on SMB. Antoine Winfield came flying in to hit Lamb at the goal line but as he did so, SMB’s right arm got caught in the friendly fire and Joe’s initial reaction was, well, Joe feared the worst.

An officials timeout was called and for a period of time Joe saw through binoculars that SMB was flat on his back in the end zone and trainers had SMB’s right arm crossed over his chest.

You know, like a guy with a busted up shoulder and/or arm.

Photos and video of SMB’s injury are gnarly. It is very premature, of course, to guess how bad it is and the Bucs likely will not release any info until after SMB has an MRI. But it sure looks like SMB might miss some time.

During the Bucs’ touchdown drive to take a 14-7 lead, it was announced in the press box SMB was out for the game with “an elbow injury.”

If its a dislocation he may miss the season, or most of it.

  2. Bertorican Says:

It doesn’t look good. I hope they gave him the good painkillers.

  3. Bird Says:

    Looked bad

Jason licht should call richard sherman agent at half

  4. Medicated Pete Says:

Thats how Pete cracks his chicken wing bones. Bucs should’ve drafted a DB instead of an inactive QB.

  5. Ben green Says:

    Amen Pete

  6. webster Says:

And thats why you draft a cb in the 2nd round when u are going for two. The very 1st game that prophecy comes to fruition

  7. Medicated Pete Says:

Did Ira predict that his boy, Ronald Jones would get benched in 2021 after less than 2 quarters of football???????????

  8. mg Says:

    Well done SB

  9. FortMyersDave Says:

Ouch. Hence the importance of depth.

  10. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Man, he was playing the SMB of old before his injury, far from playoff SMB.

    ….
Maybe he was hoping to get some of the defenders to go with him? Otherwise I have no clue

  13. Aceofaerospace Says:

My son had “what looks like it may be similar” a dislocated elbow. He wore a brace the next game. I’m only speculating, of course.

  14. richbucsfan Says:

wow, the DB’s look exposed…no pass rush, wasting pass defenders who are getting stopped on blitzes nearly every time. The defense couldn’t get off the field. This does not look good.

  15. Medicated Pete Says:

    @DrunkinYbor

The guy who can out jump everyone takes himself outta the play

  16. Oneilbuc Says:

This is not Brady fault even those picks wasn’t Brady fault. This defense has to play better. Where is the running game ?? Run the ball please!! But at the same time it’s just 1 game!!

  17. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Oneil. It’s not Brady’s fault. Really? He threw a Hail Mary Pick and Lenny caused the other pic. Brady has thrown 4 TDs! I’d say he’s just fine!

  18. King C Says:

Now the turnover difference is only minus 1 if you ignore the hail Mary. Win now much more likely

  19. bucnut2 Says:

Joe- when does the curb-stomping begin??? did I miss it. Perhaps you meant Dallas was going to curb stomp our defense?

  20. Oneilbuc Says:

Alvin. You saying the same thing I’m saying bro !! I call it like I see it . We need to run the ball !!

  21. Medicated Pete Says:

    TRADE MIKE EVANS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Surfslowson Says:

Dean was destroyed replacing SMB, glad we got the win. Go BUCS! Hope we get SMB back, and it just looked worst then it is.

  23. unbelievable Says:

Dean was getting picked on a lot afterwards

  24. ModHairKen Says:

    Trade Medicated Pete Now

  25. Coburn Says:

Yeah not sure why announcers kept trashing Cockrell. He played well enough last year. Don’t know many #4 corners that play better
