Tom Brady Lectures On Sustained NFL Success

September 7th, 2021

When Tom Brady is the one talking about what it takes to win, it’s a good idea to shutup, listen and take notes.

That’s what Joe was doing yesterday as Brady spoke the gospel on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio.

Brady opened up and shared a glimpse into his philosophy on maintaining greatness and what he focuses on with teammates.

“I think if you let some of your processes slip, you fall to a really mediocre team,” Brady said. ”I think you actually have to put your foot on the pedal [after winning a Super Bowl].”

“Anybody can be disciplined for a week or a month,” Brady noted with great passion, as he spoke of the key to greatness being sustaining your process, discipline and never cutting corners.

He added that anybody can be a one-year wonder or a “three-year wonder,” and he believes emotion is a critical component to success.

Brady thinks better communication and familiarity in the system will be keys for the Bucs as they must overcome being the measuring stick for other teams and fans in the stands bringing a different challenge to road games.

“I’ve tried to really talk to the guys, you know, just to say, ‘Look, everything’s going to be different and the expectations are obviously different now.’” Brady said. “You know, Not that we were sneaking up on anybody last year. I think there were high expectations for us last year, too.”

One thing on Brady’s mind are “the trappings of success,” which he called “very difficult.” The fame and opportunity that come with being a champ will take its toll, he says, “”When you start to engage in those things, it takes away from football.”

From what I’m reading, some of the Bucs seem to be drunk on the wine of ego and pseudo-greatness. Fact is, the season hasn’t started, they have won no games, it’s a long season and they will face every team’s best effort to dethrone the Kings of the Hill. It might be better to stop the talk that “I’m the best (defensive back, or whatever other position)” and just go win a game, then another, and another. Their play will talk louder than their words.

I think we have enough vets that we’ll stay focused……JPP, Brady, Gronk, Suh….these guys have all been there multiple times, they are writing the final chapters to their Hall Of Fame careers. I don’t think the fame will be an issue for either unit.

Yes, and yes ^^^ …. we have to earn it and be hungry… NFL stands for NOT FOR LONG …. they have to forget about last year and start a Zero

We have guys like Suh who toiled on some bad teams during his career. Now that he’s reached the top, and knows his playing days are numbered, he’s going to ball out to do it again. All of them are, and Tom will be leading the band. I’m glad they feel like they got more to prove.

Thank You coach BA you came here and cleaned out the stench of losers!

The 24 year olds may not realize it right now, but in the end they will be happy that as long as he plays, daddy is in the house. Big difference between a 24 year old with a lot of gold chain and a 44 year old with 7 rings.

I think TB12 inspires Suh and JPP to see that they can also play for years to come, if they maintain their bodies. Suh is better than ever because he has the experience and wisdom that he lacked when he was younger. Same with JPP. This could literally go on for a number of years if the players desire to stay together and stay within the finances the cap affords. This defense literally retired Drew Brees in the playoffs. He was beat, battered and totally defeated. It was the first time in his career with the Saints that he hung his head in defeat as he sat on the bench. He always charged his team to comeback and fire them up late in games, but not that game, he was done done done. Says a lot about Bowles and this defense.

Sustain success can’t be tied to one player!! Let’s see what happens once he’s gone!! Then and only then will we see a culture change. I want to see if they develop Trask then yall can talk about sustain success!!
