Richard Sherman Is Now A Bucs CB

September 29th, 2021

Bucs CB Richard Sherman.

UPDATED 9:10 a.m. – The former All-Pro corner Richard Sherman made it official this morning.

He is your new Bucs cornerback at 33 years old with a Super Bowl ring and five Pro Bowl trips on his resume.

Welcome to Tampa, Richard. Now go help the Bucs get you another ring!

When will Sherman be ready to play? Will he be willing to sit the bench if necessary?

Lots of answers coming on the field and via Bucco Bruce Arians at his Wednesday news conference later.

Shermans in the video below that the Bucs gave him “the best offer,” even though he had “a lot of love” for the 49ers, which he says were hotly pursuing him.

Sherman added that he wants “to show that these old legs still got some juice.” He also says any suggestion that he doesn’t fit Todd Bowles scheme is just silly “fan talk.”

much needed….Welcome, and hope you will be rise to the ocassion, and I will beg you left your ego on the west coast

  8. Steven007 Says:

Obviously hoping for the best with this signing. We will know soon enough. At worst we gain some depth and definitely a lot of football savvy. Hope he’s got a bit left in the tank.

  9. Posey99 Says:

    Boom! good job Jason…again.

  10. Bradinator Says:

I’m good with this. He’s had a little time off by now, and maybe all is well. May not have the jump he once had but likely better than Dee Delaney (at this time anyway).

  11. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Some backend punch to strengthen our D! Welcome. No egos allowed. Just win!

  12. Bucfan81 Says:

This should give us some depth as long as he stays healthy. Once we get Dean and SMB back along with Davis and Sherman that should help. I hope everyone is healthy by time the playoffs start.

  13. Knoxville Bucs Fan Says:

Always helps when the Goat calls you and yells LETS GOOOOO! He said he needs a week or two to get ready to go. Ok whatever it’s been how many months now since he last played? Now it’s going on the 4th week of the season. Drink lots and lots of water, take some water pills. Then when your good give them the test

  14. August 1976 Buc Says:

RS “You Mad Bro” No Brady is not Mad lol

Good news, especially after that Sh*t Show on Sun.
Instant confidence in the Secondary room during the week and game days.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  15. Alanbucsfan Says:

The “best offer” is the Bucs have Brady and 49ers have Jimmy G.
    Sherman wants a ring.

  16. Cobraboy Says:

He may not have his game legs for a month.

  17. Swampbuc Says:

    EXCELLENT

He will make an instant impact just by being in the DB room for film study, game plan install, etc. I’ve always thought we needed a veteran presence back there and Sherm is perfect. I love it. Brady likes him so that is also a plus.

    Way to go!

    Now bolster the pass rush.

  18. Devinwhiteshorse Says:

Welcome richard! Been a fan since he was with the seahawks. Go Bucs!

  19. Rico210 aka wutdaBucisthis Says:

Yes sir! Let’s go! Looking for the leadership role, ol wiley vet.
New phone @Joe. Lol don’t keep me on ice.
    Go Bucs

  20. Buc4evr Says:

This is exactly what the secondary needs, a smart experienced vet that can help the young guys learn to play. BTW the Bucs better be looking at Jamie Collins, he can be had cheap since his salary is already paid by Detroit. Hope Sherman gets reps in the NE game.

  21. Chuck T Says:

    Lets go Richard!!!!

  22. Flyin Dutchman Says:

hey it will take time but this is not a patch, it is an improvement for december football

  23. Anonymous Says:

DWH can you give White a ride to the game, I think he missed the last few.

  24. crazyBucs_CL Says:

..don’t care of his conditions, @ this point he ONLY can help. You can’t kill a dead horse, our D is DEAD, so lets hope he help to improve it.
    Welcome RSh.
..go for an other CB now….. help TB12.
..next Pass Rusher. Trade Barrett $72 million that includes $36 million fully guaranteed, to give a lesson to lazy/imposters, and show to your fans you still want to compete for SB.

  25. geno711 Says:

It is certainly a fit from a scheme standpoint. How much he ends up helping will have to wait.

Prefer he helps us right away. But it is the NFL and he is a cornerback so I expect him to get burned many times. There is a reason that QB’s other than Justin Field’s are completing passes at a 70 percent rate.

But the key for us is if he can be good during our playoff run.

  26. Tim R. Says:

Welcome to Tampa Bay Richard. We now need to establish a pass rush to help give the secondary some help. If the front four can put the pressure on the quarterback and when our defense is at full strength then we will be awesome.

  27. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

I’m slightly relieved. May not fix everything in the secondary, but should help.

  28. Bojim Says:

His veteran presence will help a lot.

  29. Listnfrmafar Says:

Now go show these pampered suburbanites how it’s done, kick some arse. If the 49ers were pursuing him he wasn’t done yet because they would know.

  30. Buc king Says:

Letssss for goooo….I called this move 6months ago …. just like I did with brady ..brown..gronk…superbowl lenny…

  31. View from 132 Says:

In related news, the Saints will sign Crabtree and Erin Andrews will be covering the game.

  32. Bucamania Says:

    LFG!!!!

  33. ModHairKen Says:

Thank you, Ali Marpet. And Ali Marpet says, “thank you, Richard Sherman.”

  34. Bobby M. Says:

He’s an experienced vet that should provide some leadership and accountability to the secondary. He’s won a SB, been a Pro Bowler….reminds me a bit of JPP. Not what he was but still capable if he can stay healthy.

  35. Mj Says:

Hope to see desir play I think he could be a good fit

  36. Buxszntkt Says:

How is Sherman doing his podcast from home today ? Didn’t he fly into Tampa last night ? If the is doing podcast from Tampa then he flew in with players jerseys to put on his hotel wall. Looks like a fancy chair as well. Maybe they set him up in 1 Buc to do his show.

  37. MRRR Says:

I’m still nervous. Corner was not our only problem. Pass rush has been awful this year. Even though this helps we still need the pass rush back from last year.

  38. Dbbuc711 Says:

I won’t be surprised if he gets in for a few plays on Sunday night.

  39. Ricky Woodward Says:

I an avid 49ers fan but jumping in to give well wishes on the addition of Richard Sherman..Great move Bucs obtaining great leadership…49ers already has Josh Norman already as a veteran leader so we both win…”Let’s Compete”‼️
