Report: Giovani Bernard “Day-To-Day”

September 28th, 2021

News could be worse.

It looks like Giovani Bernard dodged a bullet.

The Bucs’ backup running back suffered what appeared to be an ugly injury in the loss to the Rams Sunday night. And while it looked awful, apparently it looked worse than what it is.

Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, if Bernard misses any time, it will be short. In fact, Pelissero believes there is a shot Bernard could play Sunday night against the Belicheats.

The way Playoff Lenny had such an awful Sunday, and Ronald Jones was equally bad — two yards per carry! — Joe wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Bernard get a few spins at running the ball.

Two yards per carry is shameful for an NFL running back. The way the Bucs block up front, a guy should be able to trip over his own feet, fall forward and pick up two yards.

Hell, Chris Godwin had a two-yard run for crying out loud (and scored a touchdown). To Joe, that was a big red flag.

Sit him & gronk. we need healthy guys. Bucs beat pats no prob

  2. PassingThru Says:

Too bad, I’d love to see Gio get more playing time. Injury means less time to develop chemistry with Brady, and less time to earn the trust of Arians and Leftiwich who keep him welded to the bench.

  3. Steven007 Says:

Gio show that he still has explosiveness on Sunday. Aside from Brady he was probably the MVP of the offense.

  4. SB Says:

    I wanna see Sneak!

  5. WalkdaPlank Says:

Scotty Miller headed to IR as well

  6. August 1976 Buc Says:

On a meaningless TD, why was Brady even in there, and why was Gio in there, he is the Free agent 3rd down back. Should have been Gabbert to Vaughn on the play Gio was stoned in the legs.

Drag Brady off the field. Do not throw a possible Super Bowl out the door.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  7. unbelievable Says:

    BREAKING: Scotty Miller out indefinitely

At least we’ve got WR depth…

  8. Medicated Pete Says:

Scott Miller’s act is up. Does he even play special teams as a 5th string WR?

  9. Buxszntkt Says:

Scotty Miller is a one trick pony who was bound to get injured being used in the slot and non go routes. Too much dancing as well, seems we have a bunch of dancers, him, RoJo, Darden.
At least Scotty has that hot chick at home to nurse him while recovering.

  10. August 1976 Buc Says:

Scotty Miller’s “One Trick” was the difference in the score to win the NFC Championship and play in the Super Bowl.
Like him or not, that play is one of the biggest plays in the History of the Tampa Bay franchise. It fits right in there with Barber intercepting Mc Nabb and Icing the NFC Championship against the Eagles.

Is Scotty a great player no, but he showed his value in the biggest game he had ever played at the time in GB. He showed up!!
It would be nice if some high priced players would SHOW UP right now for this Bucs team on the defense.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Rams game was a very physical game, and the Bucs came out on the short end in more ways than just the 34-24 final score. Several guys got dinged up pretty good, but it sounds like Dean & Miller got the worst of it (although Gronk & Gio were probably very sore come Monday morning).

Fortunately we’ve got some decent WR depth to make up for losing Scotty, but if we lose Jamel for any period of time that’ll hurt. Bucs are down to 4 CBs right now including Dean (Davis, Cockrell, Delaney & Dean), but we do have 2 CBs on our Practice Squad (Pierre Desir & Rashard Robinson). Wouldn’t be surprised to see one of them get called up for the Pats game.

  12. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Even on the early downs, Giovani Bernard should be playing more. So far this season, he is the best RB on the team.

  13. SB~LV Says:

    Agree with Medicated Pete

  14. Jim Says:

I like Giovanni, I like Scotty. And I like what August said…

  15. rrsrq Says:

Sony Michel had 67 yards on 20 touches, give our RBs 20 touches and just see what happens, I’m pretty sure they would average more than 2 yards per carry, RBs need touches unless you are a James White type

  16. SlyPirate Says:

    Medicated Pete … totally right.

The next four opponents have losing records. The Bucs can win simply by outscoring.

    Let’s get right for 10/31.

  17. Brandon Says:

Rojo and Lenny can’t get going if they don’t actually get the ball. The offensive line can’t be blamed for poor pass protection when we are going back to throw 50 times a game. Playcalling is a huge issue on offense and it has been since week one. As for this Benard BS… NO! The dude is barely a RB… when Cincy was averaging FOUR yards per carry with all other RBs, Gio was averaging 3.4. He’s not a good runner. Quit lining up in empty so much, run and throw out of 11 and 12 sets, start setting up play-action and keep the D off the field.

  18. Bojim Says:

    Play Vaughn.
