“I’ve Toyed With Actually Giving Him The Ball On The Goal Line”

Vita Vea

Vita! Vita! Vita!

Damn, Joe is ready for tonight.

A healthy Vita Vea is always great to watch, and perhaps Bucs fans might see a return of Vea on offense, per Bucco Bruce Arians’ words to SiriusXM NFL Radio tonight.

“To see his quickness with his strength, it’s just amazing to watch him,” Arians said of Vea.

“Because, you know, I’ve even toyed with actually giving him the ball on the goal line because he’s still got those running back feet. He’s an amazing athlete for that size. He’s trimmed down to the 350s. I think he’s going to have a heck of a year as a pass rusher.”

Hmmm,” trimmed down to the 350s.” Was Vea pushing 375 entering training camp?

Arians seemed to imply that he was in that ballpark, noting the two of them talked about a weight-loss challenge this summer; Arians himself dropped around 20 pounds.

Joe is eager to see Vea mauling and balling. As good as he was returning late in last season’s playoff run, Vea wasn’t 100 percent, but he should be now.

Vea is a stud. I’ll never forget all the crybaby FSU fans on this site that whined because he didn’t take Derwin James instead. LOL.

The key is if Vea can stay healthy and not have a big lineman roll over on his leg or something like last season.

  2. Jmarkbuc Says:

Gotta figure that with more players nag time, especially in the first month, Vita will round into good shape.

And I’d hate to be the OL he slams into on the goal line. Friendly 🔥 , indeed.

  3. gp Says:

I’ve been calling for the goal line play since I heard he used to play running back. 350 lbs with a little head start makes me think of bowling pins!
I would truly love to see this!

  4. PassingThru Says:

I love putting in Vita Vea as FB on those short yardage plays near the goal line. I’m pretty sure that if Vea was given the ball instead of RoJo on those 3rd and goal and 4th and goal plays during the Super Bowl he would have scored.

  5. Espo Says:

I’ve been waiting to see that since we drafted him.

  6. August 1976 Buc Says:

Anyone remember BUD BOWL with the Quart bottle/ the Fridge lol

BUD BOWL #3 Vita slams over for TD …

Fridge step aside, its Vita’s time lol

On youtube you can see Vita, “the runaway Rhino” blasting through his opponents with actual speed in his High School days. A Man among boys lol lol

    GO BUCS!!!!

  7. Drunkinybor Says:

I wanted Vita badly, he just amazed me with his power. I was praying Bucs would talked Vita over James. However if…yes if and I know ” if if and buts were candy and nuts everyday would be Christmas.” But you can’t sent if James stayed healthy he looked like a all pro year in and out. So I can understand some of us really rely upset we did not select him.

  8. Redsox/Bucs1 Says:

How could anyone be upset about not picking James. About the only thing he has shown in the NFL is he can’t handle it physically. Talk to me when he plays more than one out of every three seasons.

  9. Medicated Pete Says:

Vita needs to help Donovan Smith block on the left side

  10. Rod Munch Says:

Shouldn’t the idea be that you say of course Vita is going to get the ball – even if you never give it to him? You know, keep the other team off guard.

Unlike with Sapp, when the Bucs offense needed any gimmick they could get, I don’t really see the need of risking an oft injured player when they’re literally not needed.

I don’t know, just give it to Brady to sneak, or throw it to one of your many receiving options, or let Rojo or Fournette run it in. There’s so many options on this team that I don’t know the real upside of this.

  11. DaBux Says:

I love it when I read a coach say one of the big boys “trimmed down to the 350’s” because that is such an awesome comment. If Vea can stay healthy, he’s going to be an automatic All-Pro this season.

  12. Hodad Says:

I’d love to see Vea line up as the fullback, and run spider Y banana.

  13. SB~LV Says:

Don’t get past the notion of giving him the ball on the goal line, TOO many deserving offensive players that busted their collective asses to get there!!!
Don’t do to Walter Payton what Ditka did

  14. August 1976 Buc Says:

Vita has been there and done that, lol in a game on the road against Atlanta in 2019.

BA got the ball to VV before, so look for it again.

347-pound Tampa Bay DT Vita Vea is now the heaviest player in NFL history to catch a touchdown, surpassing Jon Ogden (345). William Perry (“listed” at 335 in 1985) and Andrew Whitworth (330) are the others at 330+.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  15. Sumosam Says:

VV is my favorite NFL player. I’ll Be Waring his shirt at the game tonight. He’s unblockable and a real pleasure to watch.

  16. JWBucsfan Says:

Did Vita Vea ever get that hug from Tom Brady?!?!?!

  17. SlyPirate Says:

Don’t forget this is a CONTRACT YEAR for Vea.

Dak and Zeke should be terrified.

  18. PoundTheRock Says:

    Vita Vea is a beast!

The old Rodster Munch thinks Vea is just a 2 down run stuffer…not that valuable. He has zero understanding of how important Vea is to Bucs D.

  19. M. Steelman Says:

We shall call him The Freezer!

  20. 2021 Year of the GOAT Says:

    V- TRAIN

  21. Ddogg Says:

Best or goal line makes me think, fridge perry mixed with the original bus Jerome bettis. It’s a why not, will work as both a legit play and decoy

  22. orlbucfan Says:

Yeah, I remember refrigerator Perry and da Bears back in the Dark Ages. Whoopee. If VV wants to be inserted into the O for a trick play, whatever. Otherwise, just let him play his natural position on the DL. Come on Bucs, please win the division this year!
