“He Always Talks From The Quarterback’s Point Of View”

Offensive coordinator Bryon Leftwich

So what’s it like to be a player under offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich?

Mike Evans shed some light on that yesterday. It seems Leftwich is all about coaching, preaching and presenting as if he’s the guy under center.

“Every time we’re watching film, he’s talks from a quarterback’s perspective every time,” Evans said of Leftwich. “He’s like, “Alright, you gotta get separation, you gotta come on the outcut, you gotta shade the back down so I can see some of your jersey so I can throw it. If I see the defender’s jersey, I won’t be able to throw it there.’ “So he always talks from a quarterback’s point of view.

“It’s funny. He’s acting like he’s the quarterback, particularly how the routes are being ran and how the quarterback sees it. I think that helps him being an offensive coordinator because he knows what the receivers are supposed to do, tight ends and the O-line and the running backs.”

Evans went on to say Leftwich’s quarterback approach “absolutely” helps him, especially understanding where to be and why.

The greatest receiver in Bucs history also added that Leftwich was brilliant in the playoffs last season and he also referenced a bye-week meeting with Leftwich and other players where a new offensive path was forged to finish the season.

Joe’s just grateful that the Bucs offense kept humming on opening night. Nasty fumbles and the turnover on Leonard Fournette’s juggled screen pass certainly aren’t on Leftwich. But still the offense rolled up 31 points despite those three ugly turnovers.

#1 –> Mike can’t get separation, can’t take it to the house, drops balls, can’t run back shoulder fade or slants, uses wrong cleats on wet fields, came into camp in shape finally after 8 years. Can’t focus for 60min, let’s DB’s get into his head

Look who’s off his meds again. Without freedom of speech, we wouldn’t know who the idiots are.

    @Leighroy

They block my really good posts. No freedom of speech here

  4. Beeej Says:

He was doubled the whole game, gotta take what they give you

  5. Vsyl Says:

It’s impressive that Mike always got 1000+ yards seasons, even being this bad as Medicated says, right… The best thing is that Tom brady praises Evans every time he talks about him, maybe Medicated knows more about football than TB

  6. TBSwarm Says:

Excluding the one hail-mary interception, I think without those interceptions/turnovers, we easly could have got over 40pts

Leftwich is a good clever OC. I got a couple plays that sets him apart. I think an OC should be scrutinized by the plays that are called in big situations. First .. the jet pitch to Godwin that got the game winning first down v. Packers. The other was the gronk -in motion short toss for first TD in SB v. Chiefs.

These plays were unique first time plays that worked almost like trick plays but were called at times that were HUGE. As in big pressure. Great plays, great calls . Great OC.

Compared to bradys old McDitz OC who sux.. it is great to see that type of play calling.

Pete,. Evans may do all those things sometimes…and still receives 1000+ yards every season and counting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He also gets double teamed most every play! Hall of Famer for sure!!!

    Leftwich and Trask vs

    Winston and Sean Payton?”

Pete, I see you are off your medication again. So you really think Evans holds the NFL record for most thousand yard seasons at the start of a career because he somehow doesn’t know how to play the position. Evans will be a Hall of Famer when his career is over. You, well hopefully by then you will be in a straight jacket locked up in an institution for the very very nervous, with drool running out of your mouth waiting for your next dose of psychotropic medication. Heavy on the Psycho

Evans is a beast. Constantly working to get better. I have a feeling CG and AB will get more attention this week and leave the door open for ME to have a monster game.

so folks can throw the “brady took over” BS out the window!!!!

    BL IS WORKING MAGIC!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  13. Hodad Says:

According to Joe BL is just a figurehead while Brady, and BA are the real coordinators. Seems me, and Mike Evans think differently.

Kobe Faker … QB for 12 years?

    Did You Know?
The longest tenured Bucs QB is 5 years (5 different QBs).
Only Brees and Manning were more than 10 years for the Saints.

  15. Mannyknowsit Says:

If you have Mike in Fantasy start him, he’s about to blow up. Also Bucs defense is going to be savage against Atlanta’s Online.

  16. TheShaz Says:

I’m sorry. But pictures of Byron at some angles makes him look like Gary Colman.

    Damn, Pete’s a hater.

  19. BA4President Says:

Medicated Pete… I would hate to know what your “good” posts are that get blocked.

I’ve seen a ton on this website that should have been blocked, but wasn’t. So for a post to actually be blocked, you gotta write something really, REALLY unnecessary
