Cowboys’ All-Pro Guard Zach Martin Out

September 5th, 2021

“What was that?”

Bad enough for handsy Jerry Jones and his Cowboys that quarterback Dak Prescott, who wrecked his ankle last year to end his 2020 season, will play his first game against the same defense that choked out Pat Mahomes when it last played.

Now, Prescott will miss a key cog to his protection.

Cowboys All-Pro right guard Zach Martin is out.

It appears, by way of Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, that Martin is out due to The Sickness.

Remember the last time a team lost a starting offensive lineman and tried to shut down the Bucs’ pass rush? Yup, the Super Bowl. How’d that work out?

If Joe was Todd Bowles, he’d be playing Joe Tryon-Shoyinka a lot on the outside and have Jason Pierre-Paul and Vita Vea expose Martin’s absence on passing downs.

    Massive bombshell! Boom, #FireTheCannons 💥💥💥💥

  2. Rayjay1122 Says:

Does anyone really envision Dak finishing this game? I do not wish injury of course but the defense is going to be all over him.

  3. Ben green Says:

I cannot wait to see America’s team get violated on national television. The crypt keeper (Jerry Jones), will need a half gallon of JW blue and several hookers to soothe the pain. Ben has great distain for the cowboys, and relishes watching them implode

  4. JeffreyLane77 Says:

Oh boy. Here come the Cowboys fans excuses for thier loss.

  5. Ben green Says:

The Qb has a pitching injury, lol. He’s probably religated to Chad Pennington status for the rest of his short career

  6. Ben green Says:

Smart business man though, he took JJ to the cleaners

  7. Joe Says:

    🙂

I hope all you chicken counters aren’t jinxing us. It’s the NFL. We lost the the Bears last year, almost lost to the Giants. WTF gave us everything we could handle in the wild card game. The Chiefs game was one game, the other three playoff games were in doubt until the ends. And need we forget the first half of week 14 against Atlanta? Or letting Atlanta back into it week 17?

I’ll be happy to squeak out a one point win. Let’s refrain from insisting it’s gonna be a blowout.

  9. PassingThru Says:

If they lose La’el Collins too, the spread should run to 9. And that’s being conservative.

  10. Bucs&Bolts Says:

I really wana Great White eating Zeke alive all game !

  11. BerrickDrooks Says:

    DOMINATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  12. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

I believe Prescott will wake up with a scratchy throat on Thursday and bow out.

  13. Medicated Pete Says:

Zack Martin is un-vaxx’ed or else he would’ve had a chance to play if he tested negative 2 days in a row prior to the game.

  14. Stanglassman Says:

I wouldn’t celebrate too much on their misfortune because it’s going to happen to the Bucs too. This year is going to much more difficult to get through than last. Everyone can act like this is over but the sickness don’t care. FL wave came early so it will be most difficult the first 1/4-1/2 of the year for us. I believe most other teams will be dealing with it mostly in the 2nd half of the season.

If you don’t want to listen to me then read Brady’s recent interview in the Guardian. He thinks the same thing.

  15. Cobraboy Says:

    Unfortunate.

A proper curb-stomping is best delivered full-strength to the recipient, lest Chief-esque whining and moaning and excuses will ensue…

  16. Stanglassman Says:

It’s unclear whether Martin is vaccinated. If he’s not, he will miss 10 days, minimum. If he is, he’ll be eligible to return after generating a pair of negative tests more than 24 hours apart.

Per Hill, guard Brandon Knight also has entered the protocol because he was identified as a close contact with Martin. This means that Knight is not vaccinated. Vaccinated players are not eliminated for close contacts; unvaccinated players are wiped out for five days.

Most clear article I could find on it. 🖕
Sounds like Martin was either not vax or not fully Vax’d.

  17. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

    Muah ha ha ha.

  18. Joe Says:

Zack Martin is un-vaxx’ed or else he would’ve had a chance to play if he tested negative 2 days in a row prior to the game.

Martin is vaxed and tested positive.

  19. PSL Bob Says:

Ruh Roh! Not good news for Dak. But just keep in mind, karma’s a bitch. Covid could hit one of our players just as easily. Hopefully BA has sufficient disincentives in place so our players are extra cautious.

  20. Leighroy Says:

Yeah Pete, that’s not right. If this were a Sunday game, yes but not for a Thursday game. A fully vaccinated player can return to play in five days if he does not have symptoms following two negative tests separated by 24 hours – per the 4-letter

  21. Medicated Pete Says:

@Leighroy that’s right. Pete was wrong

  22. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Dak still has a good pair of WR’s and Zeke in the backfield. Yeah, I hope it’s a blowout, but as Al Davis famously said, “just win baby!”

  23. Ben green Says:

They need to put them to bed quickly, I’m talking mid second quarter. If you let them hang around, the pass rushers may be spent by the 4th. That’s the only thing I worry about in this game, or any. These guys have played a lot of extra games. The only way you overcome that is with superior conditioning

  24. Brandon Says:

That’s unfortunate… vaxed or not, those capable of critical thinking realize that people will continue to test positive and occasionally be hospitalized either way. Oscar Delahoya was vexed and then hospitalized. Joe Rogan was unvaxxed and beat it in a few days. My entire family was unvaccinated, including my 70-something year old mom beat it in a few days. Some of you are so happy to parrot your thoughts based on what the Empire tells you. Try thinking for yourselves.

  25. Buxszntkt Says:

Always this extra games talk. Win the super bowl you still have 7 months to get into game shape. It’s one thing as with any player, if you have an injury that needs surgery, but just being banged up should recover over 12 weeks then you still have 16 to condition and get in shape.
@ Ben Green, perhaps Jerry can call Bob up in NE if he needs hookers .

  26. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The sickness is going to have an impact on all teams this year……it is really contagious at this stage…..
Keep your fingers crossed for Bucs the next 4 days….

As for Martin….the Cowboys can ill afford any losses to their Oline with our marauders.

  27. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Vaccinated or unvaccinated, this Delta Strain is affected both groups the same. In Israel and in the UK, the Vaccinated are catching it at a higher rate and the Bucs are 100% vaccinated. This is going to be a tough year for all players and coaches. Stay healthy guys.

  28. mark2001 Says:

Dak will be having nightmares for the next few evenings.

  29. Joe in Michigan Says:

mark2001: It’d be better if Dak starts having said nightmares shortly after 20:20 (military time) on Thursday night.

  30. IDROOLPEWTER&RED Says:

If I were Dak, I would plan on wearing track shoes instead of cleats.

  31. Buxszntkt Says:

Alabama buc, look at NFL stats, vaccinated are not getting it at same number as unvaxxed.
Since Israelis are more cooperative on national goals like safety and vaccination we would expect higher numbers because more are vaxxed

  32. Buxszntkt Says:

Apparently second cowboy on right side is compromised as well !!!! This line is looking like a setup for Dak, lol

  33. BradyBucs Says:

    Laying $3,000 -7.5 now.

  34. Stevek Says:

Big Sexy aka Vita Vea is going to be a wrecking ball. He will wreak havoc, collapse pockets, and just flat out bully other interior lineman. Vea is going to show America’s Team and the nation how to get after the QB and will open the floodgates for our whole pass rush. Everything on D starts up front, and Vea is will either command two interior lineman on every play, or he will rip through single coverage. Either way, dude creates opportunities for the whole defense to eat.

  35. DaBux Says:

    Suh and Vea gonna FEAST.

  36. DaBux Says:

Tease it to -9.5 and see if you can get 3:2 or 4:3.:)

  37. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Totally unfair. Need to give the Cowboys a 2 touchdown handicaps before the game starts.

  38. Jbeachbuc Says:

    Brandon…
    Agreed.

  39. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

    Buxszntkt – Give it time.

  40. crazybucs_CL Says:

IMO vaccinated players testing positive should play, if not why people like Mr Magoo do propaganda pro vaccine!!!??
NFL should change the policy…. treat this as flu, no symptoms and/or light symptoms you play…..unless the the player himself don’t want to play….

  41. Capt.Tim Says:

Do the Cowboys have any uniforms with brown pants?

  42. David Says:

Not a bad idea Joe but Suh gets a lot of push-up the middle as well.
I’m sure Bowles I have a Lotta different set ups for the pass rush and D line

  43. Jmarkbuc Says:

Put JTS on their right side….

  44. Rod Munch Says:

Anyone celebrating this is an idiot.

Due to the stupid NFL rules, this will happen to us sooner or later.

Everyone is going to get this. Everyone. Yes, including you. Be it now or later, it’s never going away.

  45. Joe Says:

Anyone celebrating this is an idiot.

So you are suggesting because Zach Martin caught The Sickness, Vita Vea should have to sit out???

Or are you saying a player who tests positive should be allowed to infect an entire locker room so that all his teammates can go home and infect all their families and their kids can go to school and infect their full classrooms and teachers and their wives can go to work and infect all of her co-workers and then they can… what, do you sell animal anti-worming medicine or something?

  46. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

    @AlabamaBucs

OMG stop with your false Facebook disinformation. Do actual research for your facts people , Facebook is China media central.

“Pfizer vaccine now completely worthless in Israel as >80% of all COVID-19 patients were previously vaccinated,” read one viral Facebook post.

The post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook.)

The post misleads by saying the vaccine is “completely worthless” in Israel, where cases are a fraction of the peak number in January and vaccines have been shown to protect against hospitalization and severe illness. And the claim that more than 80% of COVID-19 patients were previously vaccinated is not supported by published reports that include information from Israel’s Ministry of Health.

The post is an image of a tweet from a group called COVID-19 Evidence Based Clinical Response Panel, whose Twitter account has been suspended for violating Twitter’s rules.

  47. SlyPirate Says:

Martin was the key to their game plan. They won’t be able run without him. As soon as the Bucs get up 1-2 scores, Dallas will become 1-dimensional. Then the
Game will turn into a rout.
