Bruce Arians Not Sure About Jamel Dean

September 26th, 2021

Status.

It appears the severity of Jamel Dean’s injury won’t be known until further tests when Dean and the Bucs return to Tampa.

That’s the word from Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

Speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network after the game, Arians was asked about various Bucs injuries.

Rob Gronkowski was X-rayed for rib injuries and the X-ray was negative. He returned to the game.

Running back Giovani Bernard, the Buccaneers Radio Network claimed, had a knee injury on Tom Brady’s lone touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Arians said Bernard should be OK.

But Dean’s injury is the mystery.

“We will have to wait on Dean,” Arians said. “We don’t know for sure what’s going on with his patellar tendon.”

With the Bucs’ No. 2 corner out for who knows how long and the very real potential that the Bucs’ No. 3 corner might be in the same boat, Joe wonders when Richard Sherman first got a text today from Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht asking if Sherman had ever vacationed in Florida.

    Anymore questions about calling Sherman?

  2. LVMYBUCS Says:

Who cares he sucks he has always sucked he just got lucky a couple times

  3. 8l3bucboi Says:

Da Bucs were exposed! Outcoached! Dat microscope is coming out 4 U coaches!

  4. Jmarkbuc Says:

I would say the secondary blows… but then again, Stafford won’t even need a shower. 0 pass rush.

  5. Ash Says:

Calm down third string dbs out there settle down probably should make some calls though these injuries are brutal

  6. bucfanforever Says:

    Get well quickly.

  7. Anonymous Says:

    Need corners REAL bad.

  8. Mort Says:

    Need corners REAL bad.

  9. TommyWins1 Says:

Gump better get off his ass. Time to earn your paycheck son. The defense sucks like a porn star.

  10. DBS Says:

The secondary was exposed last year. They were just able to cover it a lot. Now they can’t. Even if SMB was here it would be no better. He get roasted just as bad as the backups today did.

  11. August 1976 Buc Says:

The Bucs have dominated the Defensive line of scrimmage for the last 2 years for the most part. From stopping the run and to getting sacks.
Well today the Rams were the more physical team.
And on the O line, they were handeled by the Rams D line.

So the Bucs were beat on the line of scrimmage both sides. It looked ugly…

Even with Ronnie Lott, or Richard Sherman in his prime, or Revis Island, it does not matter if your D line is getting physically beat.
Suh and Vita dominate the line of Scrimmage, but today why were they out so much???

  12. CostaRica John Says:

Time to start cross training this deep wide receiver group at cornerback. They can’t do any worse.

  13. heyitsadam Says:

The secondary is garbage. They looked YUNGRY tonight. Sherman will be a Buc by Tuesday.

  14. lambeau Says:

As Drew Brees just pointed out on NBC, the Bucs are back to the defensive scheme that didn’t work last year before they went to the scheme that beat the Saints, Packers, and Chiefs.

  15. PassingThru Says:

Well before Sherman is signed, I hope he is given a thorough workout. The Sherman I saw in SF would not have been a factor in this game. If he’s indeed quicker after losing weight, sure.

  16. firethecannons Says:

just as soon Dean is out for the season

  17. Low Says:

Sure would’ve been nice to draft a corner in the 2nd round instead of a qb that’s gonna hold a clip board for the next couple years eh

  18. NPRSageBoy Says:

I gotta ask: Is Sherman THE answer? Is there anyone else out there worthy of consideration?
I agree Bucs are in deep $hit in the Secondary, but whose fault is that?
Gotta think long and hard before jumping on another vet with potential legal issues being considered a “savior”
    Peace, out ….

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I really feel the missed (layup) interception from Dean could have changed the entire game……that drop was awful.

  20. Architek Says:

Man there are free agents out there that will give us more than Dean.

He’s not the only one though – these youngsters are looking like they’re reading their own press clippings…

  21. Joe in Michigan Says:

Low: Since you’re the draft guru, what CB should’ve the Bucs taken in the 2nd Round? I’m sure you won’t answer with a specific player, none of you draft gurus ever do.

  22. lambeau Says:

If Dean ruptured his patellar tendon he’s done for the year like Jimmy Graham and Victor Cruz were.

  23. Jodibrown74 Says:

He’s not good noway. If he makes that early pick its a different ballgame. He’s done nothing all year. Glad to see him out

  24. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I think Dean houses that ball if he catches it.

  25. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

    GRAVEDIGGERS!!!

  26. Bucamania Says:

Dean ain’t that guy. He’s not that guy.

  27. SteveM Says:

Dean should be replaced. Give Sherman a chance.
Is there any realistic hope, in getting Stephen Gilmore ?

  28. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

It’s ok guys played corner in highschool and 13 years in flag football,,I’m going to Tampa to try out,, definitely can’t do any worse,,there has to be CB’s out there somewhere,, please Jason go find em!!!!!

  29. Carl L Says:

Commenters saying opposing teams playing short pass against Bucs? QB for Rams averaged 7.1 yards per completion last year. Got 12.7 against Bucs. That number leads the league. Got 71 % completion. Leads the league. All QBs opposing Bucs so far are having high completion rates, high average completion yards. Reason? No pass rush, lax coverage, bad tackling. ABC defense. They did the same thing first half of season last year. Just hope they don’t get Brady hurt making him throw 50 times a game, like idiots.

  30. adam from ny Says:

i thought the guy we got from the jets was going to be activated…?

before a guy like dee delaney

  31. Buxszntkt Says:

If Sherman hasn’t signed with the 49ers or Seahawks yet it tells us the teams that knows him best feel he is washed up, or he is asking was to much for what skills he has left.
We are getting carried with all these Vets, the DB’s have to run an awful lot.

  32. Youngbucs Says:

How do you drop that pick?????

  33. Brandon Says:

We need to rush the passed more than we need to make drastic moves at CB.
