Bruce Arians: No Carries Forthcoming For Ke’Shawn Vaughn

September 27th, 2021

Buried RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn

Today Bucco Bruce Arians was talking about the Bucs not running a lot against the Rams and he said the reason was simple.

Running backs averaging two yards a carry isn’t going to cut it, Arians said. And that’s what Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette were delivering, as they combined for nine carries for 19 yards.

So you got to what’s working in the passing game, Arians continued.

That prompted Joe to ask the natural follow-up quesiton. “Does this mean you’re considering giving second-year running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn carries, like he got last year?

Arians was firm: It’s not time for Vaughn to take a handoff and Arians remains confident in Fournette and Jones.

The head coach went on to say he likes Vaughn, who could see action on passing downs if Giovani Bernard is injured. Bernard was tackled hard on the Bucs’ final touchdown yesterday late in the fourth quarter. He was slow to get off the turf.

This is the definition of insanity, right?

Do the same thing and expect different results.

    Running Rojo is insane.

  2. Ash Says:

Why would you even ask about keshawn who fumbles in limited opportunities he gets we don’t need more turnovers play gio more

  3. tampabuscsbro Says:

I really hope this is coach speak………………..

I’ll say again, Keyshawn Vaughn will try out there. I cannot say the same for Rojo.

Last two weeks it has looked like he wasn’t even trying.

  4. SB Says:

Vaughn was a good RB in College!
No Name RBs make it all the time. Getting frustrated with the lack of Vaughn.

  5. Buc50 Says:

It’s funny to see all the upset people wanting a 4th string back to start. Don’t you think they’ve seen all his practice and game film and understand what he brings to the table?

  6. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

    Wasted pick.

  7. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Buc50 it literally can’t be worse then how Rojo has been doing.

  8. SB Says:

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

  9. SB Says:

I mean forget about the fumbles and the inability to catch Buc50
What about the lack of production.
Do you really think ‘Sneak’ can be worse than ROjo?

  10. Chris l Says:

Joe what are your thoughts on that final couple drives? Why were our starters out there and risking injury . We lost Bernard and his knee for absolutely nothing. Terrible move by arians. This game was out of hand midway through the third quarter

  11. Ash Says:

Yes I do think he can be worse if he had shown the coaches something different he would be in there already

  12. don g Says:

What the hec ? Rojo is damn good You people are idiots

  13. don g Says:

What the hec/ You people are not bright Rojo is very good

  14. jiminPH Says:

The problem with the running game is ‘running it up the gut’ on first down. This sets up 2nd & 9 to go. Then they are forced to pass. Ya think opponents are going to rush the passer?

  15. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

So the problem was not the Rams great defense and doing a good job vs the run, it was that Rojo and Playoff Lenny (who averaged 4.5ypc last year) simply suck and we should go to our #4 running back Vaughn bc he will kick ass? Seriously people…

  16. Buczilla Says:

Thank you Joe’s for asking the question. Man, Vaughn must look downright putrid in practice to not even get a carry or two.

  17. BuxStopHHere Says:

Like a lot of young players Vaughn dropped a few. If the coach don’t want to play him he should trade him a let him have another hot somehwere else. Lots of players step it up in game time and not practice. Vaughn has 4.4 speed and given the chance I would bet he will hold onto the ball. How many times do you give it to the same players and lose?
