Strong First Preseason Game For Ke’Shawn Vaughn

August 14th, 2021

Strong preseason game.

It’s easy to forget. When Rondé Barber said early in the broadcast of Saturday’s Bengals-Bucs preseason game that it was his first time in the booth since 2019, it caught Joe off-guard.

Who called the Bucs’ preseason games if not Barber? Oh, that’s right. There were no preseason games (thankfully).

So Saturday night was the first preseason game for Ke’Shawn Vaughn.

Last year Joe gave Vaughn a pass. He started out with no preseason games, had a close-contact virus scare right away in training camp, and then got hurt. He had one play for a touchdown against the Chargers where he looked so smooth.

Eh, a waste of a rookie year, Joe thought. Joe looked forward to this year.

But in training camp, Vaughn has been mostly a no-show. Oh, sure he has had a nice run here or there. He should. About half of the practices have been either underwear football or no-hitting allowed. Who couldn’t run in those conditions?

Overall, Vaughn hasn’t shown Joe really anything special in training camp this summer (and Joe has been to every practice).

But Saturday, Vaughn showed Joe a lot. He had very good runs. Some tough squirms out of mosh pits and nice gains. And he had a touchdown.

Joe is pretty confident in saying that Vaughn’s game Saturday night was better than any practice Joe has seen of him. That’s what you want in a player. A guy who shows up when the lights are on.

    He’s a JAG

  2. Rod Munch Says:

It doesn’t matter what Vaughn did, we just lost our perfect season.

  3. Jerry R Jones Says:

Loved just about everything from Vaughn. Wish they would’ve pulled him earlier from return duties though.

    We’re set at RB…..

Glad Dave Moore finally got a ring. Do the employee rings still have real diamonds

Our Mr. Irrelevant looks like a turd

  7. Brandon Says:

Vaughn looks good everywhere except as a KR. Very hesitant and doesn’t run hard. Patience can be very good as a RB but not so much as a KR. It served him well when he caught screens but he’s not a kick returner.

The best part of this game was rod munch

Oh. There is gonna be some poster that comments on this going wrong
    Or trask not stepping up
    Or saying jameis nAme
Or freaking out over the game

Rod gets bunched up when a rod is a good night

Admittedly I could not catch the game as I was working, but I don’t get the keshawn Vaughn hype. 27 yards on 11 carries is atrocious

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

Not overly “impressive”, IMO. It’ll be difficult to get carries with Rojo, Lenny, and Gio in the backfield. Vaughn really needs to shine, stand out.

    It’s a hard ‘NO’ as a returner.

  11. PSL Bob Says:

Would like to see that TD again in slo mo. Not sure if it was Vaughn’s power that pushed through the pack or if the Buc’s o-line road graded Cinci’s d-line backward. Whatever, it looked like a tidal wave rolling over the goal line.

  12. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Other than that TD, I did not think Vaughn looked all that impressive. Kick Returns are not his strong point, that’s for sure.

  13. Marine Buc Says:

He dropped a pass that bounced off his hands. Other than that he played pretty well.

You can’t drop passes or fumble if your going to play in this offense.
