Ronald Jones Or Leonard Fournette? Bruce Arians Says It Doesn’t Matter

August 19th, 2021
Bruce Arians

Unconcerned with RB1.

As Joe has said on the Ira Kaufman Podcast a few times since the Bucs won the Super Bowl,Β  Joe doesn’t care who is the No. 1 running back.

Joe figured it would be good competition between Ronald Jones and Playoff Lenny. And at the end of the preseason, their practices and their play will tell Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians who will start.

Asked yesterday for a status on who is leading the pack at running back, Arians basically said he’s not concerned.

“It really won’t matter who starts,” Arians said. “I’m very, very confident in both of them. β€˜Ro’ (Ronald Jones) is catching the ball really well, Leonard [Fournette]’s running really well, so whoever’s out there we’ve got a premier back going.

“It’s not a matter of who comes out of the tunnel, we’ll come out as an offense. Whoever gets the first series, the other guy might get the second, so it doesn’t really matter.”

Last year RoJo should have had 1,000 yards. But Joe’s not going to nitpick about that given how the season ended. πŸ™‚ And Playoff Lenny was damn strong in the postseason.

No, Joe’s not concerned about who takes the first running back snap against the Cowboys in three weeks. The Bucs’ running back stable is deep.

    Alternate Game Day Starters.

Carries and YAC matter. Catches matter.

Starts on a stat sheet don’t matter.

    Yards per Carry matter.

Fournette should start game 1. Rojo game 2. First series each.

    Starts don’t matter. STATS matter.

    Go Bucs!

    3 Pete!

    Bernard!!!

Assuming all of our backs stay healthy, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bernard had more offensive snaps than either RoJo or Fournette. Not necessarily more touches, but more total offensive snaps.

having 20 people who would start for other teams on the offense is a tough problem to have.

Arians has been consistent. He will play the hot hand. Whoever is putting up the best numbers will get the most snaps.

  6. Bucsfanman Says:

All of them will get plenty of playing time. It shouldn’t matter who “starts”.

You folks have to be slow slow to be questioning this after the 98yrd run Mr Jones is is that MAN. 🐐

the best player is fournette. ronald jones and gio bernard are average players that would not start on other teams. Its hilarious people still want to believe bernard and jones are good players. Fournette won them the super bowl. He is the clear cut starter. Arians is just being nice cause he likes to use a committee to keep fournette fresh.

If ROJO learns to catch he will be a pro bowl player

Shane bro you sound like a 13yr old jock strap sniffer!!! No doubt rojo and Bernard are good enough to be number 1 running backs on a NFL team. Your either blind or don’t know how to spot talent.
