More Ammo For Lavonte David

August 20th, 2021

Bucs ILB Lavonte David.

Lavonte David started this week by being named to the NFL Network’s Top 100 Players.

And now another NFL broadcast partner has intel that further backs up what a total stud David is.

Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports came up with these stats. it’s just unreal how good David has been, now entering his 10th season in the NFL.

Before last season, Joe was on a bit of a personal crusade to shame Pro Bowl voters about how they ignore David year after year.

But the numbers David has put up in his career, Joe is thinking he’s Hall of Fame material. Look at the other two players on this list. They are or will be Hall of Famers some day.

Why not David?

David’s stats were very similar to Luke Kuechly. And no one doubts he will be in the Hall of Fame.

Why not David?

Hey, David has something now that Kuechly doesn’t have.

A big, phat ol’ Super Bowl ring.

    Awesome video

Not a jersey guy. But i got his!

  2. Teflon Don Says:

If they win another one do we put him ahead of Brooks #55 as the best LB to ever play for the Bucs?

  3. Bbro Says:

And by the look of the second day practice Lavonte showed why he’s in the top 100 elite by making adjustments with the defense and stopping the Titans run offense and dominating the second scrimmage along with a few pickoffs as if it was the second half of a game and they made their adjustments Brady and the offense wasn’t looking too bad either.

  4. Eddie Marz Says:

All it takes is playing for a WINNING team and guys will get their recognition. That’s why I was so glad they stayed together. They have a chance to be one of the greatest teams ever. GO BUCS!

  5. Eddie Marz Says:

PS Don’t you live Antonio Brown. Mixing it up in a practice squad game. He just keeps on bringing it.👍

  6. Miller5252 Says:

Keep pushing it Joe. The thing that will hurt him is pro bowl and all pro. He deserves the hall hands down, but he still needs that help getting known outside Tampa.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Unfortunately, he’s not making many pro bowls….and he will be overshadowed by Devin White in the later part of his career….

  8. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Brooks: 1,148 combined tackles, 7.5 sacks, 19 INTs

  9. Bob in valrico Says:

Great job pointing out how special a player LVD is. The video and stats highlight
what a well rounded LB he is. As good as Devin White is, he brings a different skillset to than LVD. IMO, LVD’s ability to create turnovers ala forced fumbles and
Int’s sets him apart from Devin White in these areas. The video shows his ability to take some of the absolute best TE’s out of the game. This guy deserves to retire a Buc,IMO.

  10. SOEbuc Says:

Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaase stop making references to that NFL top 100 list. Wirfs might be best OT (no doubt top three) at 89 and Shaq has the most sacks in two years and he’s at 88. The network needs room for players on teams that unlike the Bucs get huge ratings. Wouldn’t be surprised if Dak Prescott was numero uno.

  11. Patrianakos Says:

Teflon: Get real. Nobody in pewter has been greater than #55. Ever. (Except maybe #63.)
That said, I think, a second ring would sure help Lavonte get famous enough for Canton. Right now, I think JPP has a better chance, although Lavonte has been a little better player.

  12. Aceofaerospace Says:

He may or may not be the leader Brooks was, but in my opinion, he’s already the better player, regardless if he wins another super bowl.

  13. Mike C Says:

Trust me, it hurts to say this but, 99 was a different cat, not sure what 55 looks like without him.

  14. Tackleblockwin Says:

    Also:

Lavonte David has 24 forced fumbles. Wagner has 5, and Lewis in his entire career had 19.

  15. ocala Says:

Brooks is arguably the best inside linebacker that has ever played in the NFL. I am a big fan of Lavonte, but he is not at Brooks level.

  16. PSL Bob Says:

I love that he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves. Regardless of the Who’s Better, Books or David debate, David will be in the HOF. A second SB championship will cement his place in NFL history.

  17. Tackleblockwin Says:

Guys just stop it. I love D Brooks and L David. Their numbers are pretty similar after 9 seasons. David is just as good as Brooks was, period. We as Bucs fans have been blessed to have them.

    Brooks: Tackles 1198, Sacks 7.5, FF 17, Int 19, Def TDS 6

    David: Tackles 1125, Sacks 24, FF 24, Int 12, Def TDS 3

  18. MDFree Says:

And that’s not even including all the forced fumbles and fumble recoveries that he has a knack for. Would be willing to bet he leads that category of the bunch.

  19. SOEbuc Says:

    Tackleblockwin

    And 16 FR! 👀

    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

David’s numbers beat Brooks’ already in every category

  21. SB Says:

Except tackles that is. He averages Over a hundred a year so he will pass Brooks this season

  22. unbelievable Says:

I’ve been making this argument for years.

Most underrated LB in the league.

His stats speak for themselves. And now he has a fat, shiny SB ring!

  23. alaskabuc Says:

It’s criminal the lack of respect LVD has received over the years. His numbers don’t lie, he should be in the Hall one day after he retires. Maybe now that the Bucs are in the spotlight he will start getting that long overdue love.

  24. Buczilla Says:

I think that it would take a small miracle for David to make the hof even though he is more worthy of it than Wagner and Kuechly. He simply doesn’t have enough awards due to the horrible pro bowl/all pro process. He has played on mostly horrid teams and the mostly not all sketchy at best hof voters do not deserve their privilege to vote. Perfect example is Dawkins and Atwater getting in before Barber and Lynch. It’s a highly flawed process that should be burnt to the ground and rebuilt with folks that have integrity oozing out of their pores such as Ira and Dungy.

  25. Rod Munch Says:

The Pro Bowl is fake news, anyone that takes it seriously after they didn’t put him on the team in 2013, come on.

Now, a real measure of success is the ALL-PRO team, that is a much harder team to make (less than half the spots of the pro-bowl team) and is voted on by people who aren’t tarded. To be a multiple time ALL-PRO is a very big deal, and David is that.

But the pro-bowl? LOL! The Bucs had one player last year, JPP, who made the pro-bowl? It’s a stupid event that lets idiot fans vote for it online, it’s as legit as the 2020 election.

  26. Anonymous Says:

LVD plays a different LB position from DB. He is every bit as good as Brooks. I am beyond thrilled that he has a SB ring, and plays on a Bucs team who has made POSITIVE NFL history. Karma? Who knows? He is and has always been a class act both on and off the field. Got the usual stupes on here.

  27. orlbucfan Says:

LVD plays a different LB position from DB. He is as good as Brooks, and anyone with half a football brain knows it. I am beyond thrilled that he won a SB ring. And, he did it on a Bucs team that made POSITIVE NFL history. What a delightful change from the Dark Ages. Karma? Mebbe. We’ve got the usual gang of stupid on here.

  28. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

We are really having to say out loud now that 45 is on par with 55. Truly one of our very select legends.
