Mike Tannenbaum: O.J. Howard Will Make Bucs Offense Better

August 9th, 2021

Potential.

For a guy known more for teasing flashes, tight end O.J. Howard sure is getting a lot of run as the newest spark plug of a potent Bucs offense.

Former Jets and Dolphins shot-caller Mike Tannenbaum took the airwaves of BSPN recently in a broadcast of “Stay in Bed” to say the loaded Bucs offense is due to improve this fall because of Howard.

“When you think about those great Patriot offenses, the Gronkowskis, the Hernadezes of the world, O.J. Howard has as much ability as any of them,” Tannenbaum said. “And if he is healthy, you are going to take a team with all of these outside threats with [Chris] Godwin and [Mike] Evans and Antonio Brown, and if O.J. Howard is healthy, it’s going to make this Buccaneer offense even better.”

On paper, Joe thinks Tannenbaum is onto something. The Bucs can use Gronk to block, which would free up Howard to run routes over the middle.

Joe likes Howard and of course he’s talented. But now in the final year of his rookie contract, Joe thinks it is time for Howard to live up to all the over-the-top hype he got coming out of Alabama.

And with a loaded Bucs offense and the greatest quarterback, Howard has no more excuses to not shine.

Howard has a highlight reel of super, teasing plays. He’s also had nearly as many lowlights (remember the time he tried to pull off a Magic Johnson behind-the-back dribble?).

Right now, Howard is best-known for making a play in a different Tampa Bay stadium located on the other side of the Bay.

If Howard can live up to the hype, he could seriously do damage to defenses and it would be awesome to watch.

If not? Well, then it’s a good bet Howard won’t be wearing a Bucs uniform in 2022. Remember, the Bucs were able to win a Super Bowl without him.

How does Tannenbaum get tv gigs? He’s a snake oil salesman. Oh wait, that’s what they’re looking for……

  2. Bojim Says:

    Last chance.

  3. Capt.Tim Says:

(Yawn) oh yeah. Howard is fabulous. I read about how great he is, all the time.

  4. crazyBucs_CL Says:

//anything that is NOT good for Bucs, Mike Tannenbaum promotes… i don’t think he likes any Bucs success….

  5. Casual Observer Says:

Time to live up the hype is right. Stay healthy and make plays.

  6. Capt.Tim Says:

Howard should play for the Cowboys.
    Both are fantastic!
You have to read about it, ‘cause they never show it.
    But on paper- Fantastic!

  7. Bobby M. Says:

Gronk is a far more superior mismatch on the field then Howard…..its not even close. Howard is just fast for his size. Gronk is physically dominant vs whomever guards him, he’s exceptional in blocking and he has amazing chemistry with Brady to the point they have non-verbal ways of communicating. On top of all that, Gronk plays focused every single play. If you dont get Howard involved, his focus drops off, his blocking effort becomes “meh” and overall impact on the game becomes ordinary.

  8. allbuccedup Says:

Howard is rated 23rd tight end in the NFL nothing to get excited about healthy or not.

  9. Robert Says:

mr invisible as I call him

  10. Beeej Says:

    Yup

  11. Marine Buc Says:

If he stays healthy long enough. He has played 42 games and has missed 26 games in 4 seasons. Not good enough.

  12. Robert Says:

    played 42??????

I can only remember him being relevant a few plays when Fitz was qb.

they guy with the comboys comment was right on

Poor T Bozo.. are those lips red from kissing Falcon. Saints, or Panther A?

  14. mark2001 Says:

Brady had a very high estimation of him, before he got hurt. So that should tell us all something. And as has been said…we can’t win the same way we did last year. So maybe he is one of the pieces that will help us win our second SB in a row.

  15. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

His real first name is O’Terrius, Lol, sounds like someone’s Yorkshire Terrier.
I did not want us to take him, in the draft.
And, unless he really really balls out this year, this will be his last year in Tampa.
Of course, I want him to do good and help the team, but so far he has been one big bust.

  17. Show Me the TDs Says:

Bozo, if OJ were white would it be rascist?

  18. Tkras red Bozo lips Says:

@ Show Me The TD’s……would Chris hang a white man? You Bozo, stupid question

  19. Joe in Michigan Says:

Some Bucs fans: OJ has never done anything.

Same Bucs fans: Tanner Hudson is just as good (overlooking the fact that OJ has done more in one game that Hudson has done in his entire career).

  20. Joe in Michigan Says:

    *Than Hudson has done

  21. Pete I Says:

If he can stay healthy then perhaps he can.

  22. Show Me the TDs Says:

@Bozo. I have no idea. Do you? If you want to know what a racists looks like, look in your own heart and in the mirror. MJ.

  23. Mike C Says:

Unless Chris is African American, because it is an impossibility for any African American to be racist.
