Joe Tryon Impressing A Legend

August 21st, 2021

Respect from Rondé Barber.

Joe isn’t sure how many folks watched the Bucs’ second preseason game at a bar with no audio, didn’t watch the game at all, were at the game or maybe are out of town and didn’t have access to it.

But Bucs legend Rondé Barber already has a mancrush on Joe Tryon.

The rookie outside linebacker showed some insane quickness and recorded his first sack. Well, it should have been his second sack. Sane people understand he had a sack last week.

Tryon got to Matt Barkley in the Titans’ final drive of the first half that ended in a 57-yard field goal. (Joe thought it should have been an intentional grounding call as Barkley threw a pass after Tryon had him wrapped up).

Even as he walked off the field for halftime, Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians said Tryon was having a nice game. At least through 1 1/2 preseason games, Tryon is lethal when rushing from the outside but he seems to get lost in the wash when he runs inside stunts.

On the WFLA-TV Channel 8 broadcast, Barber just raved about Tryon and his many pass-rushing moves.

“Most rookies edge rushers come into the league with one move,” Barber said. Not Tryon.

Joe would like to see Tryon give a bit more effort on run plays. You cannot replace effort.

But two (unofficial) sacks in two games, that’s a nice start. Even if the guys he was facing are going to be former NFL players in a few days.

Very, very impressed with Tryon. He’s got Bowles for HC, and White and LVD as player coaches. If he can stay healthy………wow!

Tryon will be just fine on run stoppage. One of the first plays, he wrapped up and tackled the runner for a loss. He will also be fine on inside moves. But he’s not Wirfs and does not need to be. He can ride the pine until it’s time.

One of the few bright spots last night. Everyone else needs to step up.

  7. BucBrady Says:

    His name is Joe Tryon-Shoyinka.

  8. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

The NFL needs to outlaw hyphenated names.

  9. B4L Says:

He had his share of stupid mistakes. Bucs have one of the dumbest draft classes in the NFL this season.

    Props to Joe Tryon-Shoyinka.

when he did not play in 2020 he prepared by working out with Cliff Avril.

im surprised that everyone seems surprised that he has more than one move after being tutored/mentored one on one with an nfl def end.

i remember shaq barrett saying attending a rushing workshop organized by von miller before the 2018 season was the impetus of his success.

Sitting in the stands was giving me flashback to the lost decade with no QB 🙃 I’m gonna need more beer to wash this pain away

  12. Buczilla Says:

This kid has played well and literally ran a tackle over on one play. I am optimistic about em.

  13. Buc50 Says:

JTS is a one man jail-break. I can’t wait until he actually figures out what he’s doing. Halfway during the season, he should be just pouring on the sacks.

  14. Bbro Says:

The entire first string wasn’t playing not only Brady
