Cynthia Frelund Predicts…

August 5th, 2021

NFL Network’s Excel queen.

Joe is almost scared to type this. But duty calls!

We all remember how last year Cynthia Frelund, NFL Network’s resident stat geek (she doesn’t look like a stat geek) stated with conviction and authority that the Bucs had the worst secondary in the NFL.

Whoops. Let’s just say the Gravediggers had the final say.

It wasn’t the first time that Frelund missed like a Kyle Brindza kick.

So here we are again, a summer before a new season, and Frelund has another ranking/prediction for the upcoming season.

Frelund believes park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting Bucs Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady will lead the NFL in touchdowns with 38.

Now Joe is cool with this. Brady, so long as he is healthy, should do better than last year given all the things we know about him now. You know, playbook, receivers, surgically-repaired knee, etc.

The only thing Joe finds odd about this is that Brady was second in the NFL last year with 40 touchdowns. So Brady will lead the league this year with fewer touchdowns? That’s interesting to Joe.

The thing that spooks Joe about this is Frelund’s accuracy. Her predicting Brady to have a dynamite season is just about the kiss of death, yes?

  1. David Says:

Predicting Brady to lead the NFL in TD’s, yes.
    38, no.
    More like 50

  2. Godlovesbucs Says:

I have a hard time believing the league record will be 2 less with 1 extra game…

  3. Medicated Pete Says:

Pete wants us to rest starters when up big in 4th qtr. But if Brady plays all snaps, the td total is over

  4. Patrianakos Says:

    Actually, I don’t agree.
I expect us to do a whole lot of Running Out the Clock next year, much more than last.

  5. Tfmaz Says:

Less touchdowns in a better offense after a whole full year on a better knee? Stupid.

  6. Pine Hills Says:

With the exception of the Detroit game we never really shut it down till the game was about over.
    I’m thinking 50 touchdowns.

  7. Bruce Blahak Says:

TV jibberish for the truly bored…she knows nothing.

  8. Joe in Michigan Says:

Didn’t she “predict” that the Super Bowl winning Bucs wouldn’t make the playoffs? What do you have to do to lose your prognostication card?

  9. ModHairKen Says:

Bruce Blahak: “TV jibberish for the truly bored…she knows nothing.”

Spot on. It’s pathetic with all the available video, access to interviews and money involved that this is the coverage we get. It’s useless pablum. The obsession with ensuring the makeup of on air talent covers all demographics to the exclusion of talent is also pathetic.

  10. Mike Says:

I suspect her IQ after this prediction. When was the last time the leading QB with <41 TD?

  11. Bird Says:

She does those higher and lower games on nfl network for “fantasy footballers”

Almost just throwing numbers at a dart board
Yah …with extra game …a few qbs could be closer to 45-50
So i will take the way over

  12. Bird Says:

    “But booty calls” IMO joe

    So i disagree there 😂

  13. Hodad Says:

    Butter face.

  14. SOEbuc Says:

38??? He had 40 last year without and offseason, during the sickness, and without a stand out third down RB in Gio. Not to mention a little torn MCL. I’m thinking like 45-50.

  15. gotbbucs Says:

    I’ll take the over

  16. Joe Says:

Less touchdowns in a better offense after a whole full year on a better knee? Stupid.

    *And* an extra game.

  17. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete Says:

    Joe,

The catch is, she’s NOT predicting that Brady will have a dynamite season.

38 TD? Lol. You think Brady would be happy with that decline in production when he’s more comfortable in the offense now etc????

Nope, it would be a disappointing season for Brady, personally, from a production standpoint.

So, this isn’t a kiss of death for success.
if anything, this prediction of decline will even further stoke Brady’s internal fire (as if he needs it) to drive us to our Undefeated Season that we’re about to have… GO BUCS

  18. Wild Bill Says:

Hey Joe. Please find a picture of her in a tiny bikini. Then I might pay attention to her predictions accurate or not.

  19. Listnfrmafar Says:

So Roger’s, Wilson and Mahomes are going to throw less than 38 tds? Please with Bucs wr core and AB full season if Brady doesn’t throw 50 it will be a disappointment. By the way the underneath dump off to Gio that he takes in the end zone is still a TD. Idiot but nice pooper.

  20. Mickman Says:

I think she forgot there are 17 games this year also.

  21. mark2001 Says:

Unless she thinks we will have about a dozen more running touchdowns as well, I don’t see it.

  22. rrsrq Says:

She ranked the Bucs RB room 24th, huh, seriously? Not saying we are top ten but at least middle of the road.
