Chad Johnson: Use Antonio Brown

August 13th, 2021

Strong tip for Bruce Arians.

Flamboyant former Bengals and Belicheats receiver Chad Johnson believes he has the secret sauce for the Bucs to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Johnson took to Twitter to give a hint to Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians he knows what will grease the wheels for Tampa Bay to repeat as the rulers of the NFL.

That is, throw more to Antonio Brown.

Johnson said it’ll happen if the Bucs use Brown “more offensively,” Joe isn’t really clear what Johnson means by that. Look, the Bucs won it all last year. Isn’t that effective enough? And Brown caught a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl, too.

(It’s is still wild to Joe that every person who scored a point or threw a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl for the Bucs was not with the team in 2019. So much for continuity.)

If a team wins it all, how is that a team’s weapons were not used effectively?

But Joe sort of understands Johnson’s point. Brown is healthy and knows the offense now. And Joe is a huge believer that this team’s strength is the passing game downfield. In fact, that’s an elite strength.

So Joe certainly would throw a helluva lot more passes downfield (which includes targeting Brown) than dinking-and-dunking to running backs in the flat.

Tells me AB & Chad had lunch today

  2. Rod Munch Says:

That beats the tips I used to give to the guy at Gumby’s Pizza in Tampa. For him, I’d take a porn mag off my roomates pile and say “here’s your tip”. In the pre-internet days, when you couldn’t find anything you wanted to on your phone, that was a lot more of a big deal.

Joe get them eyes checked, it says “offensively” not “efficiently”

Hope people realize Ocho Cinco tipped Julio 500 Bucs! Pretty nice right there if you ask me.

Well he’s not completely wrong, there were 10 games in which they couldn’t use him properly which now they can for 14 more. AB can be that catalyst that helps the Bucs go undefeated because Brady trusts him more than anybody.

Had to do a doubletake and stare at it. You are right. Johnson’s “o” looks like an “e” at first glance.

  6. Biff Barker Says:

Maybe AB’s biggest contribution this year is depth. It’s a luxury to have 3 #1 WR’s. 17 games is a long season.
The NFL needs to rethink this and let all 53 players be active.

  7. SB Says:

Biff I think they should have added at least 7 players to the roster for a 17th game. JMO tho.

  8. Listnfrmafar Says:

I agree Ocho. FYI last team Johnson played on was Patriots.

  9. Rod Munch Says:

I thought all teams were allowed to play in front of fans this season? I’m turning on the Falcons game and the stadium is nearly completely empty. Is that really just lack of people showing up, or do they have new regulations in place, or is it a really really late showing up crowd? At least in pregame, it’s like 99.7% empty.

  10. Rod Munch Says:

Nevermind, they showed it again and it’s only like 93% empty. Maybe the pregame footage was pre-recorded.

  11. Rod Munch Says:

2nd team Titans offense starts the game, is moving with ease down the field vs the Falcons.

  12. Buczilla Says:

Holy hell, can you imagine if Antonio gets even real close to his prime form this year?!? Our offense will be like “I’m the Juggernaut B!tch!”.

  13. Rod Munch Says:

Said it all offseason, but I think Brown will be the teams leading receiver, in terms of catches anyways. I think Evans will get more yards and TDs, but I think they’ll feature AB more in the short game – he will still get deep balls too, but getting him in areas where he can use his quickness, he should eat up yards.

  14. SB~LV Says:

lol.. you get what you pay for… nothing!

  15. SB~LV Says:

^^^ wrong thread , meant for this to post on the super cheap preseason tickets

  16. Rod Munch Says:

This Falcons-Titans game is truly awful. Neither team is playing any starters and they’re throwing flags every other play. What trash.

How are the Falcons so precious that they think they don’t need to play their starters? They’re a trash team, with new coaches, a new scheme, they spent a #4 overall pick on a TE, and they’re afraid to play him. I get not playing Ryan, but not playing anyone else? Not your new RB, your new TE, no they need to stay fresh for your playoff run. LOL!

  17. Mike Says:

Finding those developmental bottom of the roster types is important, so I don’t blame the Falcons if that’s what they’re doing.

  18. Joe Says:

    Rod:

Just today Falcons announced all fans had to mask up. Would you wear a mask for 3+ hours to watch preseason trash?

  19. Bojim Says:

I’m sure Brown will get more targets but he won’t dominant our passing game. No way.

  20. Rod Munch Says:

Joe – well I got a super huge oversized mask that is basically doing nothing, it doesn’t really interfere with airflow much, so indoors I don’t notice it much. But since I got the vax, I’m not complying with any of these rules. But if you are in a situation where you must comply with this stuff, I highly suggest you custom order the biggest, loosest mask you can find, it really does greatly increase comfort – and don’t forgot the metal nose piece that goes in the mask that keeps it off your face a bit, that gives you even more air. You will look stupid, but who cares, you’re behind a mask anyways.

But anyways if the Falcon’s open their sphincter style roof, isn’t it considered open air and outdoors? In that situation when the most radical left cities shouldn’t be harassing people.

  21. Joe Says:

But anyways if the Falcon’s open their sphincter style roof, isn’t it considered open air and outdoors? In that situation when the most radical left cities shouldn’t be harassing people.

Only relaying what Joe read from Dixie Chicks reporters on Twitter. The order went out today: Going the a Dixie Chicks game? Gotta mask up or stay outside the stadium. 🤷

  22. Beeej Says:

Which is why I’ll likely never attend another game, never fly again, never go on a cruise again

  23. Razor Ramone Says:

Good luck with that. The Falcon fans are front runners anyway. That place will be empty.

  24. webster Says:

This is the problem right here. You have people blaming the “radical left” for wearing mask. Hey einstien, THE DOCTORS say mask up. So the responsible people are just reiterating what THE DOCTORS say. But i guess DOCTORS are “radical left”. Nope thats right, my very own DOCTOR is a conservative republican and he told me to mask up and get the vaccine. Notice i said conservative and not far right.

  25. Darin Says:

Tip for poncho. Brady will throw it to whoever he wants. If it’s more AB then so be it. AB better get his bonuses this season it could be his last.
