Tom Brady: “I Really Want To See How Committed We Are”

July 21st, 2021

Tom Brady at the White House yesterday

For July at least, JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman will not be the most interesting Bucs-related interview on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio.

That honor will go to Tom Brady.

Brady has a scheduled interview on the station with his longtime media friend Jim Grey tonight, primarily answering pre-screened fan questions that surely will have plenty to do with things that aren’t about the Bucs.

Boston Herald writer Karen Guregian got an advance listen to at least some of the interview and published a couple of snippets.

Yeah, Brady talked — but really said nothing — about facing the Patriots in October and how he finds motivation in the unnamed team that dropped out of the bidding for him in March. (Perhaps Brady’s agent BS’d his client to fire Brady up and stir the market? Hey, after all, Brady says he often isn’t honest with media.)

But one nugget caught Joe’s interest: Brady looking for signs of greatness in the 2021 Bucs.

“Our team at the Bucs has done some really cool things over the course of last season, that I really want to see, how committed we are to improving those processes. I thought we got really good toward the latter end of the season, and I thought we were still an ascending football team,” Brady said.

Indeed, Mr. Seven Rings. How committed are the Bucs to improving?

Joe liked Brady framing the answer into getting better, not maintaining the status quo of last season’s final eight games. And Joe is fired up to have Brady in the locker room firmly letting everyone know that a championship mentality starts on Day 1 of training camp, not Day 12.

We will have to get better to win again. There is no one formula to winning in the NFL. One thing though we see, is that everyone spends the off season trying to stop the team that won the whole thing.

There will be bumps. We will not score 30 plus every game – so cue the BL, TB and AB haters. But with this coaching staff, players and especially Brady, I see a great chance for us ascending to the top again.

2 years ago and this quote would have made me gulp. But the goat and the millennial whisperer changed the culture

I sometimes wonder how life is for the jameis Lovers who were so indoctrinated in their love that they couldn’t enjoy the current team success. You know, there was the dog, the supposed realist, and the one who’s handle rhymed with g facts, all of whom loved their beloved quarterback more than the team which has been proven by their absence in these new glory days. I personally couldn’t imagine loving one player more than the team. Glad most of us chose team first. And so glad the current leader is also a team first guy.

You hit the nail on the head Steven. Brady learned early that what it takes to be truly great is being ‘a team first guy’. That quality certainly appears to have rubbed off on the rest of our team also. 2021 promises to be a very good year for them AND for us Bucs’ fans.

A really cool time in Bucs history….probably will be short lived but we’ll enjoy it while its here.

    Preach that gospel bro!!!!

There is absolutely no question that we were an ascending team……I trust Brady to maintain and improve on that. I’m not sure there is any other QB who commands that kind of respect from his teammates, coaches and himself.

I share the optimism, but am starting to get a little nervous that too much optimism rarely ends well for Buc’s fans. This should be one of, if not THE, greatest all-around teams in NFL history. This COULD be a a team that goes 17-0 in route to another Vince Lombardi trophy. Records COULD be set for the team and at many skill positions.

Let’s just hope that the euphoria that has permeated Buccaneer Nation since the last SB victory is still present come this time next year.

I’ve never been more excited to go through my day without seeing 95 !!!!!!!!!!!
in every post, si yes the Realist is gone.

    The realist was so annoying.

Tom Brady is beyond a goat.

He is a Prophet at this point. A demi-god like Alexander the Great.

JPP is a titan. Suh is a titan. Mike Evans is a titan. Godwin is an alien.

Jensen is a Scottish Lord. Ali Marpet is a Jewish Warrior-King.

Gronkowski is a divine clown yet a loving sage of simplicity.

    I could keep going.

Our team is full of legends and titans.

Hermes was the God of Athletics. Hermes truly blessed the Bucs.

I liveatreamed a decade of losing from 2009-2019 while teaching abroad. My Moroccan wife would laugh at me every Sunday.

I deserve this. Loyal fans deserve this.

It’ll be easy to keep guys on track who have always been on track. Suh, David, JPP, White. Tom has no worries, but I like the Jedi mind trick he’s using here.
