Searching For Motivation

July 1st, 2021

Devin White sounds off.

This concept always fascinates Joe.

Man, athletes sure try to invent crazy ways of self-motivation. Joe remembers former Bucs middle linebacker Kwon Alexander constantly creating strawmen on Twitter that the entire universe was anti-Bucs and anti-Kwon so he stewed on his leather couch while clubbing in Vegas, or poolside at his New Tampa condo while on his phone, building fury that humanity was cheering his downfall.

For Kwon, someone saying the alarm clock fonts of those Jameis Winston jerseys were ugly, Kwon took that as a personal attack and vowed to break the ribs of an opposing running back with a ferocious hit as retaliation.

Meanwhile, there was no such “hate” on social media against Kwon.

Well, it seems Kwon’s successor at inside linebacker and fellow LSU product Devin White is drumming up the same routine.

White took to Twitter this morning and vowed to show the world the Bucs will not tolerate this disrespect that is allegedly being thrown in their faces.

(The tweet has since been deleted. It read: The media be acting like the gang some scrubs are something… Shessh 😤 We Like That !”)

Joe has no idea who in the Fourth Estate that White is referring to. Perhaps it was some clown on BSPN (like this guy who claimed Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians should be fired for the way he treated Tom Brady).

Virtually every writer/reporter Joe has come across believes the Bucs are a Super Bowl contender (again) if not the favorite. The only guy Joe can think off that wrote dismissively of the Bucs still believes the Bucs will make the playoffs. That’s not exactly a slam.

But hey, whatever it takes to be successful and find motivation, Joe is all for it if that results in White crushing Matt Stafford when the Bucs visit the Rams in September.

Players who look for reasons to be pissed-off are keepers

  2. Architek Says:

    I’m sure he’s talking about PFF…

  3. SlyPirate Says:

He’s talking about the W-L predictions.

Most reporters have the Bucs losing ALL FOUR games they play against upper tier teams.

Seriously disrespectful. I felt the same way.

  4. August 1976 Buc Says:

The fact that the Bucs are not favored to win the Super Bowl and the Chiefs are, simply because they got a couple of lineman is a joke.
Seems like Devin does not like that.
That was a beatdown put on the KC, like Mahome Boy had never known.
What was that Mr Kelce? Would-a Could-a Shoud-a.
    NOT!!!!! lol
The better and deeper team won, period.

The Bucs will simply be better this year.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  5. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

It may very well be us vs Kansas City, in a repeat of the last super bowl.
I still like us in that game, but if Kansas City is able to protect their QB better, the score will be closer.
The Bucs will be better this year as well!

  6. ModHairKen Says:

Is there any reason why he cannot use proper grammar?

  7. Anonymous Says:

You guys should not forget the BEAUTY of these attacks.. When you ARE the Best there is then Every MUTT out there compares themselves to our team. I guess we’re not used to it. Right. But we should get used to it. If we weren’t FEARED then none of these LOSERS would be soooo Butt Hurt. BUT THEY ARE!

Just crys of Butt Hurt LOSERS!

    GO BUCS!

  8. Chris Boyd Says:

because tats the way he’s spoke his entire life. are you really upset that he doesn’t speak grammatically correct, while he’s out there making plays?

  9. Joe Says:

Not everyone can or does or wants to major in English. If you are getting triggered by this, you should never, ever be on social media. Ever. Even Northwestern grads write like that on social media.

(Not condoning or advocating players not use the King’s English properly, but it is sort of like having a problem with water pouring from Niagara Falls.)

  10. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

Best thing players can do is ignore the media’s empty talking heads and just ball 🤔

  11. Duane Says:

White has always been this way. Hes from a small town, and people from those places come with a huge chip on their shoulder because they want to be great. Normally I would be concerned with young players fretting over respect, but this is DWhite. Totally on brand on a Bruce Arians team. Remembering where you come from, and what effort it took to get where he is now is fuel in the tank from a SB champ that feels slighted. IF the Bucs have the DPOY this season, I am betting on 45.

  12. SufferingSince76 Says:

I always thought wanting to win each game you played was plenty of motivation.

  13. Brevard Buc Says:

The Champs should be favored in every game!
The Champs should be the favorite to repeat!

Are we not basing these predictions on recent history!? If that’s not disrespect…what is!

Hunt Great White! Lead them boys!
    Go Bucs!
