O.J. Howard Opts For Caveman Workout

July 6th, 2021

All that appeared missing was a plate full of raw brontosaurus on a bone.

O.J. Howard may not be old school/country strong like Buccaneers savior linebacker Devin White, who puts in a full morning working his Louisiana stable before grinding through traditional football training. But Howard has been taking on throwback workouts lately.

The Bucs’ fifth-year tight end accompanied his All-Pro buddy Derrick Henry to Mexico recently for a visit to Tulum Jungle Gym, which features an outdoor beach gym with equipment made from stone, wood and bamboo.

Not this isn’t exactly roughing it, the gym is accessed through the fancy Ahau hotel resort alongside the Mayan Jungle. But NFL fans know Henry is a true workout freak and training with him is no joke.

Joe’s glad to see Howard pushing hard through his vacation to return to the Bucs ready to hit the ground running.

He blew out his Achilles in Week 4 last season and the Bucs went on to prove they didn’t need him to win a Super Bowl.

They may not need him this year, either, but they’re certainly a more dangerous offense with Howard healthy.

Hope with all that, Kinley makes the team….will be difficult, though.

As for the Cave Man workout…..it wouldn’t be complete without Vita Vea there.

Gotta say, the OJ looks good and fresh.

Unbelievable that he is on this roster with all the other studs. This is a great sign!!!

  3. SlyPirate Says:

Not gonna lie … In previous years OJ has looked in better shape.

I have zero expectations for him in 2021. Any contribution will be positive.

  4. DoooshLaRue Says:

He’s probably just there for the photo ops.
It’ll look great on his social media.

  5. Bucsfanman Says:

Any production from OJ is a plus. He’s got to stay healthy.

That didn’t look like OJ to me and aren’t those BYU shorts? Why would he be wearing those? Who is that?

  7. Recardo Says:

Jungle gym? Somebody will certainly find that racist.

He’s got so much upside and potential.

Where have I heard that before?

We proved we don’t need him last year.

Make it through a whole season, and I’ll believe. I hope wood, and bamboo helps him, lol.

dmatt says-make it outta the game injury free n I’ll try to believe. I hope the ancient/isometric work out toughens his body.

dmatt says- In my heart, OJ knows this is a break up with Gronk/Brate in the first quarter of the season because so far he is a bust.

Such a great call. Too bad the cartoon wasn’t as good. I still watched it though!

  15. Eddie Marz Says:

I like Howard. He’ll fit right in to their offense. Thought he was a wideout when I first saw him. If he stays healthy, we have another beast in Tampa. GO BUCS!

  16. PassingThru Says:

I was next door to Tulum, over at Playa del Carmen just a couple of weeks ago. I hope OJ is taking his workouts seriously. That gym looks a bit too “new Tulum” as Tulum has become a hangout for Instagram influncers and wannabes. I’m not impressed.

Wooden 44 lb dumbbells look about the same size as steel 140 lb dumbbells.
