Motivation-Killer Tom Brady

June 30th, 2021

Perhaps Tom Brady’s impact spreads wider and deeper than most people believe.

Retired cornerback Bryant McFadden has two Super Bowl rings with the Steelers, and he’s spent time around Bucco Bruce Arians. McFadden jumped right into media when he left the game, and he’s on Joe’s list of highly underrated NFL analysts. So Joe pays attention when he’s talking, like he did on CBS Sports Radio yesterday.

McFadden laid out a great case that Aaron Rodgers, not Tom Brady, is the quarterback with nothing left to prove/achieve.

Interesting take.

McFadden’s believes Rodgers may sit out the entire 2021 season, in part because he’s already taken a step to make football a secondary priority in his life. And a reason for that, per McFadden, is because Rodgers knows after losing last year to the Bucs that “he’s not going to catch Tom Brady” when it comes to the discussion of the greatest quarterback of all-time.

Add to that Rodgers already having a Hall of Fame resumé, and possessing arguably the greatest all-around QB skill set in history, the 37-year-old Rodgers has little to play for — other than teammates he seemingly wants to leave.

Joe’s interest is in Rodgers sitting out 2021, or reporting midway through the season after he torpedoes the Packers’ playoff hopes.

Damn, imagine if it’s actually a different kind of Tom Brady Effect that helped knock out perhaps the Bucs’ biggest obstacle to another Super Bowl — before the season even starts.

Unusual line of thinking. Rodgers was never in the conversation of greatest ever anyway.

  2. sgrd0q Says:

It goes a little beyond that. Credit the Bucs organization for giving the QB more say in how things are run. Roger sees that and is upset he is not given that leeway.

  3. D-Rome Says:

That’s a really fascinating take. He’s a first ballot Hall of Famer no matter what he does for the rest of his career. Perhaps he doesn’t love playing football anymore.

  4. QB whisperer Says:

He’s got the love of his life in Shalene Woolley and Allstate commercials to keep him financially secure. You don’t need football if all your “needs” are met.

  5. Bird Says:

Rodgers is a very selfish individual

He turned his back on his family over his first hollywood actress crush. Now he is married to another after dating a few months. Yah. That will last
But he turned his back on his own mom and dad Parents even admitted being blocked out and had no real relationship with their own son.

You dont think he wont stick the knife in the packers face and keep turning it. Over and over again. And he really seems interested in that jeopardy gig.
Dude is a tool. Fun to watch. But what a self righteous baby

  6. Buc50 Says:

I think sgr hit the nail on the head. Brady is making QBs realize that they hold a lot of cards. It’s just that some are holding a King with a couple of middling cards and Brady is holding a Royal Flush.

  7. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I always considered Aaron Rodgers as a spoiled brat.
Don’t be too sure he has the Allstate Commercials very long if he retires, or sits the year out.

  8. Medicated Pete Says:

I’m filled w/ rapture after reading this. Haunted by wonderful thoughts of Rodgers outta the NFL

  9. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

During the “In The Current” series, Rogers admits he “got beat up a little bit” when Brady asked him if he was alright post game of the 38-10 beat down. Loved it! I don’t believe Rogers has the passion to continue playing unless fully “supported” by his Team and given what he wants/needs. He might be done.

    😂😂😂😂🤯

Haha. That’s funny because Suh has totally abandoned tackling QBs and prefers to give them a King Kong push into the turf.

That will shake any man up.

  12. SlyPirate Says:

Health is also motivator. Favre, his predecessor, has brain damage and chronic pain.

If you have the money, ring, MVPs, stats, and you can walk away without a permanent limp … why not exit and enjoy the rest of your life?

  13. Robert Says:

    Rodgers… HOF…nothing left to prove????

He plays for GB and tutored under Favre.

That’s like being a sales rep for GE and tutoring under Jack Welch.

He was handed the keys to SB and legacy. He’s good, but he’s a whiner and not as good as they say IMO. One thing this guys is right about. He’ll never be at TB’s level.

  14. Tim Says:

He lost my respect ever since he complained about our field a few years ago. Even though our field (turf) is considered one of the best year after year

  15. StAugBuc Says:

    Ummm….he doesn’t do Allstate commercials

  16. Miguel Says:

I still can’t unsee that disturbing little dance he did after his touchdown in the regular season game in our crib. Hated him ever since…

  17. Guzzie Says:

Don’t kid yourself he’s going back to the Packers this year probably get traded next year if they don’t win a championship

  18. Hodad Says:

I think to many times we mistake great QB’s with their arm talent. Rodgers might have one of the best arms ever to play in the NFL just like Marino, but that doesn’t make them the best to ever play. Would you trade their arm talent for Brady’s, and Montana’s rings? Didn’t think so. Some of the best arms to ever play the game is what I call them, but not the best QB’s of all time. It’s about championships. In that regard Rodgers only has one, Dan none. To me that’s not greatness.

  19. Duane Says:

Rodgers is one of the most skilled passers of all time- with no HEART. He is only fiery when he is frontrunning, then he becomes a flamethrower blaming everyone around him. He has been the one constant in GB for over a decade and how many championships to show for it? He is all about himself. We all know about his desire to win on 3rd and goal late in the 4th quarter of the last game he played in. Mentally weak, poor leadership skills, always the victim. At least Brees went out on his shield. Aaron may just take his ball and go home.

  20. Listnfrmafar Says:

Brady has made Roger’s, Wilson and Watson disgruntled. Bow like the others and kiss his ring(s). Roger’s plays for Roger’s, Brady plays to win, two different motivational philosophies.

  21. Winny Testaverde Says:

Has Rodgers already torpedoed the Pack’s chances in 2021? Maybe…just maybe. The Pack front office didn’t help a bit by trading up for Jordan Love…who looks good on paper but actually regressed at a second tiered school. Rodgers is a front runner…and The Bucs may have broken him twice in 2020. The glory continues…

  22. Ben green Says:

The Packers should be banned from the NFL for how they’ve done Rodgers. He is by far the more gifted player. Brady’s talents were fostered and exploted by the Patriots. If they switched teams, it’d be Rodgers with 7 rings. Maybe more. Remember Brady isn’t playing Rodgers, just the sucky Packers defense they trot out every year. Never in the history of pro sports has a players talent been so wasted and neglected. Besides they’re wired differently. Rodgers, I don’t think, is obsessed with football. Brady can’t invision life without it. One guy for one game… I pick Rodgers every time.

  23. sgrd0q Says:

Ben green – yours is an unpopular opinion on these boards and in general. Brady wins. No matter what, he wins. In Michigan, Boston or Tampa. He has the intangibles to make him a winner. No one is remotely close.

  24. Oneilbuc Says:

Hodad. Dan Marino is a all time great he never had the defenses that Brady played with. It’s only 2 superbowls where Brady was on the field to close out the games and 1 one of them he didn’t even throw 1 touchdown. And remember this is a new NFL we don’t know what kind of quarterback Brady would have been back then. But put Dan Marino in today’s football it took 22 years to pass his 5,000 yards passing. This is not boxing or Golf where winning a championship is on one guy . Superbowls are team accomplishments not quarterback lol 😂😆🤣 you people are a trip lol 😆😂.

  25. Colonel Angus Says:

Rodgers never had the killer instinct. Great skill set, no doubt. But he gets punched in the grill and pouts like a sissy. Hope he plays and we get to play them again in the playoffs. That way we can retire another future HOF QB.

  26. lambchop Says:

The difference with the Packers and Bucs in giving Brady a say, is that we sucked for so long. Like bottom of the barrel suck. So, why the hell not let the Goat do his thing? The Packers have been winners for a long time, maybe sometimes middling winners, but never at the bottom. So, there is just too much ego within the Packers organization to let Aaron dictate terms.

Although, Aaron with weapons, would only be better for the team. I’m not sure ego should have a place at this point in his career, if you want to win now. I don’t care how good Jordan Love is, he ain’t going to win anything substantial now and he’s unproven. I mean they were a dumb coach’s decision away from maybe beating us in the NFC Championship.

The second part you typed invalidates the first. You don’t win 7 rings in 10 Super Bowls without being obsessed with football.

  28. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

    Rodgers is a whiney 💩

  29. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilbucs get a grip your talk is old!!! It’s ok we understand Brady replaced your soiled messiah. The sooner you except that the Bucs %100 made the right decision will help what brains you have left.

  30. Youngbucs Says:

All this clown got left is what Super Bowls mean argument. He has to point at something to justify his hating and unhappiness smh.
