Did Jaelon Darden Arrive Tom Brady-Approved?

New Bucs scout?

Very interesting detail Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians revealed about Tom Brady’s involvement in player personnel behind the scenes at One Buc Palace.

Apparently, Brady is an unpaid scout who broke down tape of potential Bucs wide receiver draft picks this past spring.

That’s what Arians said of the park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback.

Appearing on “The Rich Eisen Show” seen on Peacock, Rich Eisen asked about the conversation Bucs brass had with Brady prior to the draft on drafting a quarterback.

As both Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht and Arians have stated, Brady was fully in the loop that the Bucs planned to draft a quarterback.

In the second round, the Bucs drafted Florida QB Kyle Trask.

Arians seemed to imply to Eisen that he asked Brady to watch tape of quarterbacks and provide feedback. Eisen followed with a question asking Arians if Brady actually broke down quarterbacks tape. No, Arians said, but Brady did study potential wide receiver prospects.

Bucco Bruce Arians (to Tom Brady): “Look at these receivers and see if there is something you like. And I will critique your ability to critique receivers.”

Rich Eisen: How did he do?

Arians: He did great (laughs). There are certain things he likes. He likes really good, big, fast receivers.

So this clearly invites the obvious questions, which were not asked. Did Brady break down tape of the Bucs’ fourth-round draft pick, wide receiver Jaelon Darden? And if so, did Brady give his stamp of approval?

Since the draft, Arians has gushed about Darden’s playmaking ability.

Joe can only sense how cool it would it be from Darden’s perspective. Being told by the Bucs, “Tom Brady wanted you so don’t let him down.”

Everything the all-time greats like Jordan/Brady do is calculated. We’re just seeing it happen more now w/ Tom since he has the freedom in Tampa

  2. Pine Hills Says:

Maybe we’re giving him too much control.
He’s starting to make me worry.

  3. Iamabuc Says:

When discussing Brady, please let’s not bring Jordan in the conversation because they are nothing alike. Jordan was a selfish, “me”-centered kinda goat. Totally opposite Brady, the Real Goat!

  4. Pine Hills Says:

It just seems like he’s believing too much of his own hype.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Tom Brady, “Unpaid Scout”

  6. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Few pro players can transition into coaching and be great…….Brady would be one of those players.

  7. adam from ny Says:

as a young gun i was told average and not so great ball players make good and great coaches…

while star pro athletes make terrible coaches later on down the line…

  8. Mitch Says:

Fascinating stuff. Especially since in January 2020 Bruce said that Tom wouldn’t be a good coach because he is a perfectionist. I wonder what is the difference in context that makes Brady a good “coach” now versus what BA was referring to early last year.

  9. Oneilbuc Says:

Man lol lol 😆😂 yall worship Brady lol 😆😂. When Brady leaves I think a lot of yall going to cry 😢 !! Lol 😆🤣😂 yall give him the credit for everything that happens good with the team. And blame everyone else but Brady when things are going bad . Lol 😆🤣

Joe, I always skip your adjective paragraph. Most of the time I skip reading the rest of the story as soon as I see “park-“. It doesn’t add to the story and quite literally no one finds it funny. I noticed you rarely use that dumb adjective list in your lead anymore and I’m guessing it’s because others were skipping the story as well.

TB12 IS the hype!! Go Bucs!!

    i agree…..I wonder how Joe would feel if we, when we post, referred to park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback.Tom Brady the same way:

I’m quite sure Joe reads our posts….

Pine Hill……I have no idea what there is to worry about. Rob Gronkowski and A. Brown are blowing you kisses.

It looks very safe to assume that Tom has a good deal of input when it comes to personal decisions, especially with offensive players. This is probably a big difference between how the Patriots and the Bucs run the team and is a big reason why we got Brady last year.

Theres not many teams that would not let ego get in the way and let a players input be valued the way Bruce and Licht have. It smells like Bruce is the mastermind behind this process and is a huge reason why he is such a great coach………..NFL or not it take a special leader to value the opinions of those under them…….Anybody thats ever had a boss can probably attest to this. This is a huge reason why this team plays such hard nosed football. When you have a coach you feel actually gives a crap about you those are the types of coaches you will lay in on the line for.

Coaches like this are rare. Dungy was one of those types. Andy Ried reminds me of the same type. I cant think of too many more. They are few and far between.

  14. Anonymous Says:

Lol… Wow he likes really good, big ,fast receivers..
What a scout. No one else looks for those traits.
Jaelon…I’m sorry you must not have been signed off on by Brady.
Really good, small, fast was not his assessment.

    D-Rome completely agree.

Please do! This may surprise you but Joe is going to guess he reads more stories that have published on this website than anyone. Daily.

  16. Pewter report Says:

He didn’t go scouting because I’m sure he didn’t go looking for small school Darden. It’s not scouting if somebody gives you a list of receivers to look at just to see what you think. It’s not like we need Brady to be a receiver scout. Bucs have had no issue drafting that position at all and have the best receiving core in the nfl. No need to be dramatic about every piece of Brady news

  17. Buczilla Says:

LOL, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson will “love” hearing this story.

  18. Hodad Says:

Why wouldn’t you ask the greatest QB in NFL history, with 20 years of playing time, what he sees in players you’re thinking of drafting? That’s why Tom wanted out of N.E.. He didn’t want to be told shut up, and play, we’ll pick the players. That’s why Rodgers wants to move on. What a slap in the face having your team move up in the first round for a QB when you never even hinted at retirement. The kicker being blindsided by it. Imagine if we moved up in this years draft for one of the top tier QB’s. Tom would be like WTF how does that help me get another ring? Certain players have earned that right.

  19. Redblud Says:

Darden is a extreme talent. He reminds me of Winfield, in that if he was 6’2” with the same exact talent, he would have been a first round pick easily.

Another comp for Darden is a guy some people around here may not like since he played for the Panthers, none other than Steve Smith Jr. I think people are going to be surprise how much playing time he sees on offense. He is already a more dangerous playmaker than any WR on our team not named Mike, Chris or Antonio.

Come on Joe, you gotta INCREASE the Brady MONIKER lol, you can’t let Peter King have the longest Moniker.

2021 MONIKER MANIA BABY!!!!! lol lol lol

    GO JBF…..GO WORLD CHAMPION BUCS!!!!!!

  21. Jerry R Jones Says:

Hey Joe, your guess is wrong.

And stop with the monikers. You are the only one laughing at your fart bubbles in the bathtub.

    I completely concur

  23. Cobraboy Says:

@Oneill: still butthurt? Brady brought a Super Bowl, and when he leaves he will be forever enshrined as The Greatest QB in Bucs history. Not one actual Bucs fan will feel a smidgen of animosity toward him. Hell, he might bring two SB’s. There is a chance.

On the other hand, your messiah, Jameis Christ, still threw more interceptions and fumbles than any QB since he entered the NFL…and he even rode the pine for an entire season.

Methinks you’re projecting your Jameis Christ worship. To actual Bucs fans, there is a difference between great appreciation for the Bucs transformation at One Buc Palace that Tom Brady brought and “worship.”

  24. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilbucs you post more laughing emoji than you do actual substance. We’re laughing at you you’re ridiculous.

  25. Youngbucs Says:

Can’t wait for the season to start!!!!! So I can can laugh at the same excuses for the soiled messiah.

  26. Soggy Says:

Oneilbucs or is it Ndog? Laughing at a bucs superbowl.. Wow what a idiot..

  27. Soggy Says:

Not only winning the SB but making kansas look pretty foolish while doing it.. That puts joy in any real Bucs fan.. Oh Ya…

  28. SOEbuc Says:

    Pine Hills

“It just seems like he’s believing too much of his own hype.”

That’s the brilliant part. It’s either people are gonna be haters, which he loves to add to his game. Or he’s like “I’m Tom Brady. Kiss the rings bitch.”

  29. Bucfan81 Says:

As long as we keep winning I don’t care how much control Tom has. However somewhere Russel Wilson and Aaron Rodgers are crying in a corner yelling they won’t listen to me lol

  30. MarkR Says:

TB doesn’t listen to any of the hype, good or bad. He refuses to even engage in any discussion about whether he’s the GOAT. He’ll admit only to the obvious, which is that he’s the most successful player in football, if not all of professional sports. He’s obsessively task-oriented, task-driven and narrowly focused on his compulsive need to succeed. Not necessarily the kind of guy you’d want as a BFF, but as a team leader you give him as much input as he wants. BA is smart enough to utilize that input, or not, effectively.
As an aside, I think Aaron Rodgers deserves the same privileges and has every right to feel totally disrespected. More so because the Packer organization has not even bothered to issue a formal apology for not consulting him on their QB pick of Jordan Love.

  31. TJ Says:

I just came here to laugh at the “moniker police”! Their whining is pure side-splitting entertainment!!! Great job, Joe!

  32. kaimaru Says:

@MarkR He literally posted a video on twitter of all the media hate about him being over the hill after winning the super bowl. He definitely listens to the bad.

  33. Oneilbuc Says:

Yall are mad because I don’t worship Brady like yall do ?? I’m a real bucs fan not a Brady fan like some of yall . I represent the bucs not 1 player. I will never believe that Brady made David a better player , because he’s been a baller . Yall want to make the superbowl about 1 guy and I just don’t and will never make it about 1 player. Superbowls are a team achievements not a quarterback achievement. I WILL ASK THIS QUESTION AGAIN NAME ONE BAD DEFENSE THAT BRADY PLAYED WITH IN HIS WHOLE CAREER ? OR NAME ME ONE YEAR WHEN THE OFFENSE COULDN’T RUN THE BALL WHEN THEY WANTED TO??
