Bucs Got Stiffed?

June 16th, 2021

The tribe has spoken.

The PFF tribe has rattled its sabers. Are they on the warpath thinking the Bucs’ young stars aren’t really stars?

Joe maintains that among defending Super Bowl champions, an NFL fan would have to look long and hard to find a Super Bowl winner with a better foundational core of young players.

Sure Tampa Bay has excellent veterans. But if you think about the biggest plays the Bucs had in the playoffs last year, almost all were made by guys who can’t yet be elected to the U.S. Congress.

That didn’t stop Sam Monson, one of the high priests of the PFF tribe, from virtually ignoring all of them when he decided to cobble together his best players under 25.

Well, Monson did include one Bucs player under 25. And he would have looked like a flat moron if he didn’t. That was right tackle Tristan Wirfs.

10. T TRISTAN WIRFS, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Rookie offensive linemen typically struggle in Year 1, but Wirfs was thrown to the wolves and did nothing but thrive. The Iowa product allowed just 24 total pressures across 20 games on his way to a Super Bowl despite running up against some elite competition. In no game did he surrender more than four total pressures, and he had six perfect games of pass protection.

The way Joe looks at it, Monson could have had Wirfs much higher and it would have been legitimate. But that’s just Joe quibbling.

However, nowhere on this list is Devin White. The second-year Bucs middle linebacker played like an absolute madman in the playoffs. If he plays that way during the regular season, he could be labeled the best linebacker in football.

But he’s not good enough for Monson’s top players under-25.

Also, you will not find safety Antoine Winfield, who ought to be playing in a Pro Bowl if he progresses this year as many second-year players should.

But nah, not good enough for Monson’s top young players.

And you wonder why Joe thinks the PFF tribe is one of the greatest sports scams of this century. Cris Collinsworth’s outfit has so many thousands of people hoodwinked into believing they are the last word in football.

What makes this analysis mind blowing is that the Bucs won the damn Super Bowl last year. We always use the excuse of our players not getting respect because they didnt make the playoffs and didnt get prime time exposure. Well whats the excuse now????????

  2. SB Says:

Don’t worry Joe. Most of us are right there with you about PFF.
White and Winfield started almost every snap for a Superbowl winning team.
Monson has his head up his @ss

Carlton Davis, 24, not on the list.
SMB (three picks in playoffs), 23, not on the list.

    But, but, but… grades!

    Devin White?

  5. #1bucsfan Says:

SB couldn’t have said it better myself.

  6. Steven007 Says:

Well this is one of their more egregious muffs, and just further proof that whatever analytics they’re using doesn’t square with what the eye can see. To not have White or Davis on that list is embarrassing.

  7. Slugglife Says:

Who gives a rats ass about PFF.

Every one of those idiots lost major money betting against Tampa Bay three straight weeks. This is their lame attempt at revenge. Their rankings mean jack sht.

  8. TOM Says:

Monson is another silly ass clown. To me what he says doesn’t mean a thing. Why waste time with this guy. Another so called expert who knows nothing about what he’s talking about.

  9. Slugglife Says:

With those numbers, Wirfs could have been ROY.

  10. TOM Says:

Who is this clown Monson. Never heard of this jerk.

  11. AMI_Chris Says:

Whatever. My only retort is that I’ve got multiple t-shirts, coffee mugs, hats and beer glasses that say “Bucs — Super Bowl LV Champions.”

I think Joe this guy is a Cobler, a shoe maker, he has to be, he can not be any kind of football analyst, lol cobling together a list like this, he must have written it down on toilet paper LOL yes he must be a cobler, and he needs a Seeing Eye Dog lol.

LOL NERDS AND NUMBERS lol enough said right their lol

    GO BUCS!!!!

  13. Alanbucsfan Says:

Now Joe, a little perspective please-
Monson did rank the Bucs’ linebacker unit as 3rd best in NFL. He also ranked Bucs’ DLine unit as 3rd best and Evans- Godwin as 4th best receiver tandem.

  14. Buc4evr Says:

Ridley and Kyle Pitts who hasn’t played a down in the NFL are going to save Atlanta…. Just ask PFF. PFF is just click bait Lol.

  15. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

    Monson pulled a Monson.

  16. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Guys are paid good money to ignore the Bucs and downplay them . You should start calling them “America’s Team” since you call a certain former player America’s QB when he clearly never was. 😴

  17. Jerry R Jones Says:

All PFF is doing, is poking the bear. I hope our young players come across those articles, and play with a chip on their shoulder.

  18. Buczilla Says:

Monson is still a moron. More chips for our players shoulders. Keep on encouraging them to show ya up for the fools (most, not all) you are national media.

This list is so outlandish, it makes me wonder if it’s a thing for sports agents to pay these PFF dumba$$es under the table in exchange for hyping their clients?

  19. Louis Friend Says:

Joe loves the PFF tribe – he (they) ABSOLUTELY LOVES THEM! Stuff like this to show how WRONG PFF is gives plenty of filler material to keep the clicks going until training camp.

I’m sure there will plenty more chum for this blog’s readers before the season starts in September. Gotta write about something, eh?

  20. Hope springs eternal Says:

Most of these bs football “experts” weren’t even starters in pee wee games.

  21. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

Edgy as a rotten egg… so many better un beta sites sans monikers

  22. David Says:

Devin White?!? That’s crazy he is not on it.
Winfield I can see being left off. He’s good, and should become really good, but throughout the year the Buccaneer safeties let a lot of players get over top of them – so the game is not all there yet.
Is it 25 and under or under 25? Godwin is 25.
    RoJo is 23 still!!
    Whitehead is 24 I think

  23. 1sparkybuc Says:

Had a dog named Munson. Never heard of no Monson.
