Unreal Roster

May 24th, 2021

Good morning, Bucs fans!

Your coffee is going to taste damn good this morning after reading this, even if it is standard corporate office slop.

If last year someone told you the Bucs would get a receiver with better numbers than Jerry Rice or Randy Moss, you’d be drooling at the thought of him uniting with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to tear up the league.

Well, the Bucs actually did do that. And his name is “Antonio Brown.”

Brown was easily on his way to a Hall of Fame career until he went mental in Pittsburgh. It sure seems as if all of Brown’s antics began after filthy Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict blasted him in the head late in a playoff game, which knocked Brown out of the game and killed the Steelers’ Super Bowl chances with Brown out.

Coincidence?

Well, the good people of CBS Sports put out a graphic on Twitter last night that blew Joe away. Brown, prior to going full-blown whack job, had put up numbers Rice and Moss only dreamed of.

This is just mind-blowing knowing that Brown with the Bucs is technically a backup!

How freaking good can Brown be, and how lethal could the Bucs offense be with Brown having a full offseason, training camp and preseason with the Bucs and park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady,

This team, on paper, is just unreal!

Last week, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht told prized JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman that Brown is expected to come in today to sign his contract. We shall see.

Now, time for that second cup of coffee. Joe promises it will taste as good or better than the first.

    Unreal Roster?

    Offensive line = Top 5
    TE = Top 5
    WR = Top 5
    RB = Top 10 (maybe)
    QB = Top 5

    Defensive Line = Top 5
    Secondary = Top 5
    LB = Top 5

    Special Teams Kicking = Top 10
    Returner = TBD “Go Darden1”

  2. Bobby M. Says:

    Brown is a great player….probably HOF but there’s been chatter he was a head case since his high schools days. He was a two time Class 6A all state selection….yet not a single D1 school was interested? FSU denied him over “academic concerns”….FIU expelled him after an altercation. He walked on with Central Michigan because he knew the coach but even that guy didn’t offer him a scholarship?

    I dont think the hit from Burfict was the moment of change…..I’ve always believed he could have a chemical imbalance similar to Marshall Brandon when he played with the Broncos. Brandon is now a huge voice for mental health awareness but he was a head case as well in his early years. I think Brown may have finally got some meds to help stabilize him….which was probably why he was so well behaved with the Bucs.

  3. Bucman Says:

    If meds help AB be stabilized….Go Big Pharma!

  4. Kentucky Buc Says:

    Maybe meds but sometimes guys start maturing in their 30s and thinking about their future.

  5. 2021 Year of the GOAT Says:

    TB12 is AB Whisperer : )

  6. PSL Bob Says:

    I’ve said it before. Barring a rash of injuries to key players, the 2021 Bucs have an opportunity to be the greatest all-around team in NFL history. Phenomenal offense and equally balanced on defense. I have a feeling the overall point differential between the Bucs and their opponents will be through the roof this year.

  7. Buc4evr Says:

    I just find it strange that he is not signed yet, but I guess we will know more today? With our typical WR injury situation and a 17 game season, there is a good chance Brown will end up starting as a 1 or 2 at some point. NFC South opposition has to be concerned. Lol.

  8. lambeau Says:

    The offense could be historic.
    The secondary was 21st in the league, giving up 249 passing yards/game.

  9. Leighroy Says:

    The only thing that cures AB’s ills are receptions. The GOAT pharmacist had the dosage dialed in last year and kept his other “customers” happy too.

    How the balance will be this year remains to be seen. Healthy OJ, new adds Gio and Darden could affect how many balls go ABs way compared to last year.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Just to think, there are fans who actually think Tyler Johnson & Scotty Miller should get snaps instead of AB………there are those who think he shouldn’t even be on the roster.
    I rarely if ever insult other posters by calling them names…..but in this case I will at least say….those ideas (not posters) are idiotic.

  11. Casual Observer Says:

    I did not support his signing. However, he turned out to be the finest WR I have ever seen. Shockingly superb. Glad our GOAT and the Bucs got his life turned around. He can (and will) be spectacular this year. What a signing by LIcht.

  12. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

    Alabamabucsfan, top 5 WR, what team is better? Top 5 QB? I’ll give you Mahomes and Roger’s then TB12. Brown will be #1 receiver this year if he doesn’t F up. For heavens sake put him in the return game.

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Well, Brown hasn’t even come close to 100 receptions for the Buccaneers.

    "Just to think, there are fans who actually think Tyler Johnson & Scotty Miller should get snaps instead of AB………there are those who think he shouldn’t even be on the roster."

    Miller has earned it during the regular season. Brown has not.

    Miller had more yards in fewer more than 10 fewer receptions, and he averaged 15+ yards per reception over Brown's 10+ yards per reception.

    So maybe…just maybe…we're not the idiots you assume. Miller is better at this point.

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    “Miller had more yards in fewer more than 10 fewer receptions”

    =

    “Miller had more yards in 10 fewer receptions”

  16. Buczilla Says:

    Sh!t I didn’t know that. Crazy impressive. Thanks for the info. Time to make a bet with a friend and win a six pack of two. 😜

  17. PSL Bob Says:

    Lambeau – get your point re defense. But remember, the Bucs D came on strong at the end of the season. In my mind the more important stat is point differential and the Bucs were

  18. PSL Bob Says:

    (Cont’d) outscoring their opponents by 8.6 points per game on average. And two of their biggest losses were to the Saints. When you take the Saints out of the analysis, the Bucs outscored their opponents by an average of 11.4 points per game during the regular season. I think if the D-line plays this year the way they did in the playoffs. the D stats in 2021 will be much better than last year in terms of total points allowed.

  19. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

    Miller is a good player but one trick pony. He also played in every game this year so it is apparent he has trouble getting open. Buccaneer Bonzai, where was Miller when Evan’s got hurt, oh waiting on the ground in the end zone as Brown catches the pass at it’s highest point. Please, you have obviously never watched him pre meltdown.

  20. daniel Da Man Says:

    Shows to go you, cannt always be a good person and a great football player. Chose just one to cheer for.
    Yep fame is fleeting.

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Bonzai

    I didn’t call you or anyone an idiot….I said that “those ideas (not posters) were idiotic

    But….if the shoe fits…….

  22. kaimaru Says:

    Bonzai, AB was also used in screens which Miller never is (unless we want to lose yards).

  23. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

    Hey, you hear that medicated Pete,,lol, just kidding

  24. BillyBucoff Says:

    I wanna see Brady hit 6,000 passing yards and 60 TDs.
    I wanna see ME13 catch 20 TDs
    I wanna see #1 on Offense and Defense.
    I wanna see 20-0
    I wanna see back to back Super Bowls.

    Etc Etc
    Just unreal to think any of those is possible.
    This team and its fans deserve this.
