Shaq Barrett Shares Two Brady-Fire Stories

May 17th, 2021

Joe continues to bask in the greatness of Tom Brady on this Monday.

So much fun to do while drinking a late-morning Bromosa in the sun.

Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett sat down with former Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib recently on the Catchin’ Fades podcast. The two won a Super Bowl together with the Broncos and are buddies.

Talib played with Brady in New England and, of course, both played with Peyton Manning in Denver. Few men in football history can say they played with both guys.

Talib asked Shaq to give a couple of Brady stories that reveal Brady’s passion and leadership. Shaq had no problem coming up with two.

First, Shaq talked about how the offense had a rough day in practice and Brady met with the entire unit immediately afterwards. Shaq said he never found out what was said, but he did endure the offense completely dominating the Bucs defense the following day. Shaq added that the defense didn’t play badly, it was just a new level for the Tampa Bay offense.

Then Shaq went on to talk about how the Bucs struggled mightily early against the Chiefs in November. After the Bucs scored their first touchdown to cut the Chiefs’ lead to 17-7, Shaq said Brady addressed the defense on the sidelines and it really made an impact.

Shaq and Talib agreed that Brady is ridiculously poised but passionate and a fiery motivator at the same time, while Manning was a QB that stayed cool and didn’t display both sides of himself on the field.

Interestingly, they also agreed that players yearn to impress Brady and make sure he knows their names.

“Everybody want to get noticed by him,” Shaq said. ”He’s just so down to earth and so cool that it’s easy. You ain’t really got to do nothing. You just go talk to him, he’ll talk back to you. Like we’ll walk to the indoor [facility] together .. and talk and kick it.”

Sounds like the conversation Brady had with the Pats defense when down 28-3 to the dirty birds – not sure if he had it with them against the Seahawks, but the defense made a play (I’m think Bilicheat had a conversation with Pete Carroll about that last call)

Just read a story in ny post sports that Brady’s knee surgery according to Tom was much more SERIOUS than portrayed by Bruce Arians as a simple clean out.had not heard this on Joe’s site or anywhere else , wonder why we are not getting this story locally?

  23. Joe Says:

    0-26 survivor:

It’s out there. Joe is a little dubious of Brady’s statement. Did anyone see Brady limping last year? Brady, if he hasn’t already, is expected to start throwing this month. Don’t recall too many “major” knee surgeries where the quarterback is on a practice field throwing the ball three months later.

Then again, it seems Brady is like the Bionic Man.

  24. Eddie Marz Says:

Tom Brady is the Babe Ruth of football. They both played in 10 Champion Series and won seven times. Also Ruth was famous for out homering teams. Brady also has won more SB’s than any franchise. That’s not going to happen again. GO BUCS!

There are good people in this world believe it or not with all that’s going on. Sports brings people together too as long as you leave politics out of the friendships
