“He Was Being Real!”

May 22nd, 2021

Defends Bucco Bruce Arians.

Last year there were times when Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians was less than complimentary over his hand-picked quarterback Tom Brady.

This criticism usually came after a loss when there was a less than a Hall of Fame performance by the park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, Super-Bowl-winning Bucs quarterback.

And the easily offended on national hollering shows were outraged by the alleged gall that Arians had to not sing hosannas over the sainted Brady.

Well, Ian Beckles remembers. And he stopped just short of saying some folks need to apologize to Arians.

In discussing the 2021 Bucs season on his podcast “In the Trenches,” Beckles, a popular local sports radio personality and former Bucs guard, was impressed that recently Arians and Brady confessed publicly that Brady struggled with Arians’ playbook for roughly 75 percent of the season.

And once Brady had a grasp of the playbook, whoa!

“When you hear Tom Brady and Bruce Arians said Tom Brady didn’t have a grasp of the offense until midseason and maybe a little bit after that, remember Bruce Arians getting after Tom Brady?” Beckles asked. “Like, ‘Tom is the reason why we are losing?’ He was being real!

“Because Tom wasn’t picking up the offense. Tom wasn’t going through his reads the right way.

“And as soon as [Brady] figured that out, [the Bucs offense] was a juggernaut.”

Beckles, like many Bucs fans, is stoked for the Bucs in 2021. He sees no reason why the Bucs cannot win the NFC South and make another Super Bowl run.

“So what happens this year?” Beckles asked. “They have a defense where they all know how to play. They have a quarterback that knows this offense. … There’s no reason why this team can’t be better from Week 1.”

Alas, Beckles seemed to suggest the guys still alive from the 1972 undefeated Dolphins better start icing up their champagne, a tradition they’ve had for years to uncork bubbly when the last undefeated team loses each season.

“But temper your enthusiasm,” Beckles cautioned. “Look, 17-0, it ain’t gonna happen.”

Since it hasn’t happened since the 1972 Dolphins, Joe sure wouldn’t bet on it, even if it would be cool as hell.

The perfect Bucs!

It would be cool as hell if we go undefeated this year, and it is something Brady is very interested in.
An undefeated season would certainly cement Brady as the unquestioned GOAT, but he is already the GOAT.

Ian Beckles has become quite the food critic !

I’ll certainly take 14-3 or 13-4……..stop with the perfect season talk…..let’s go 1-0…..first

    Undefeated?????……………….definitely not

I could careless about the record and moreso about getting into the playoffs again.

We’ll see how this team reponds having an “X” on their backs knowing every team wants to beat the Superbowl Champs………

……it’s so damn hard to repeat, and Brady knows this better than any Player in NFL history.

Anthem, but we have a chance with old noodle arm huh? Did you ever do a tally to see how many times you called him noodle arm last year? Well into the midseason I believe. Do some homework and let us know. Thanks.

Im ok if we dont go 17-0. I dont expect to be undefeated but I do expect us to be better than our previously best record ever which is 12-4. And hopefully a run at Lombardi #3! GO BUCS!!!

    ^^^

    15-2

this win total is attainable…anything more simply ain’t happening

We have a shot.at home field advantage. Have to start 1-0. Have to beat the Rams. Have to beat the Belicheats. Have to beat the Bears, and of course we have to kick Jameis butt twice if possible. Other games are negotiable but this is a 13 plus expected wins team. It is what it is. Maybe we don’t get a perfect season but it would be perfect if we swept the NFC south. That and home field advantage is more than enough. I’ll be happy to lose to the Jets in exchange for that.
