Bruce Arians Names 6 Leaders Not Named Brady

May 22nd, 2021

Joe’s always interested to hear Bucco Bruce Arians reflect on our beloved Buccaneers’ Super Bowl run.

He was busy doing that on the Green Light podcast recently. Arians responded to being asked what Bucs not named Brady or Arians are deserving of leadership credit during the run up to the Super Bowl victory.

“I think you could take a bunch of guys off defense, starting with Lavonte David, Ndamukong Suh, Jason Pierre-Paul (pause), even our young rookie Antoine Winfield,” Arians said. ”You know, offensively, you got Mike Evans, Chris Godwin; we’re blessed with so many guys that really care about each other and don’t have an agenda other than winning. I think that’s what led to getting all these guys back.’’

The head coach choosing names always invites speculation. Why didn’t he pick X guy? Why not this guy?

Joe’s not going there today. Joe will just be intrigued and excited that Winfield was one of the guys called out by Arians.

What a gift it will be this season if Winfield can take that big Year 2 leap typical of great players.

I can see the Bucs running it back this season with the sick level of talent now combined with 1 season of history together for the team. I do think last season will always be the most dramatic and is worthy of a movie in the future.

I agree, I don’t see any team that can beat us, and think we will repeat this year.
This team has not even peaked yet, IMHO.

why not mention TB12, why??? he is the only reason we are here today.. what is Mr Magoo thinking in his grumpy/thick head….???
Why J is not giving his input on this???
Maybe is nothing, right ??!! got to be nothing, hopefully….😶

Seems like just yesterday many JBF casuals were predicting disaster for the 2020 team.

While this team is certainly exciting, as one of my wise football coaches once preached: “Nothing in football is ever as good or as bad as it seems.”

  5. Flying Dutchman Says:

You can’t name the whole team but there’s a lot of leadership and accountability in this team. Devin White, Shaq Barret, Vita Vea, Ali Marpet, Ryan Jensen, and even Gronk and AB have their own way of leading. Setting the tone, by example, showing younger players what it takes to be elite. Most importantly, not being selfish.

  6. Mike Honcho Says:

I noticed immediately he didn’t mention Devin White. Nothing? Probably. But….

Crazy Bucs, he was asked to names leaders not named Brady. That’s why he didn’t mention him.

  8. Bucnjim Says:

Sounds like he’s giving examples not going down the list so I wouldn’t read into that.

  9. SlyPirate Says:

These are hot takes. When asked these questions, the coach has to come up with a quick answer on the spot. Don’t read into who was/was not named.

Crazybucs_CL – read the post again. He was asked to name people NOT named Brady. I think there’s pretty much universal consensus that Brady deserves the lion’s share of credit to getting us to the SB.

    Gotcha …. ^^^^

  12. Joe in Michigan Says:

Devin White is not only a team leader (it seems to me, anyway), he also ran a 4.37 forty recently. That’s an impressive time for a WR or CB, let alone an ILB.

This was a truly incredible team and season. I’m a female but I’ve always loved football because so many things can happen it’s an amazing and exciting sport to watch. But as long as I’ve watched and rooted for various teams I’ve never seen a team like these Buccaneers play. They definitely wanted to win and played like that. And at this point I’d say everyone on that team contributed to winning. The few ending games that led up to the final Super Bowl win were all amazing and how I started following this team is I was mad at how they got rid of Tom Brady in New England and I truly believe if you take care of your health keep working out taking vitamins a person can stay healthy a long time!! Anyhow can’t wait to see them play again!!

Cant even imagine what a leap would look like , he played so well as a rookie !!

  15. Slugglife Says:

The best leap we can ask for is Winfield having a meet and greet with JW as he attempts to flee the pocket from our pass rush.
