Antonio Brown Had Surgery

May 19th, 2021

Went under the knife.

The Antonio Brown saga deepens.

So Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians is on record saying the reason furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing receiver Antonio Brown had not signed his agreed-upon contract is that he couldn’t pass a physical due to his bum knee injured in the Saints playoff game last January.

Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht then told prize-winning JoeBucsFan.com columnist and Pro Football Hall of Fame selector Ira Kaufman this morning (Wednesday) that he had no concerns Brown would sign his contract, and expects him to do so early next week.

Well, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports Brown had surgery yesterday on his bum knee and Brown and the Bucs expect a contract to be signed soon.

So now it all appears clear. Brown couldn’t pass his physical, so he had minor surgery that should allow Brown to pass his physical so he can put pen to paper and help guide the Bucs to “Go for Two” season.

Does that sound clear to all? Works for Joe.

Fine. As long as it is minor.

  2. Mort Says:

Sounded clear on the PR pod the other day from BA. I’m not sure what wasn’t clear for you till today tbh.

  3. windbaggery Says:

If it weren’t minor it’s doubtful he would’ve waited all off-season to get the scope.

  4. SufferingSince76 Says:

C’mon, Mort. Not everyone heard the podcast.

  8. Keir Says:

Rub some dirt on it AB…You’ll be right as rain in a few weeks

  9. Mike Says:

It didn’t seem to be bothering him during offseason training videos… interesting that he waited until now if surgery was needed.

  10. Medicated Pete Says:

This guy isn’t even needed till week 10 or so. It’s all good as long as he lives on Tom’s boat

  11. catcard202 Says:

AB’s knees have quite a few miles on them…So, for me…It’s buyer beware at this point in his career.

  12. Keir Says:

Little Napoléon over at PFT just HAD to have his little take on the AB situation

  13. SOEbuc Says:

Better late than never. Like we don’t have the depth at receivers to back it up. Passing offense is going to be RIDICULOUSLY good. Especially if starters can remain healthy together through 17.

  14. Cannon Says:

Nothing a lil’ avocado tequila won’t fix.

  15. Will Says:

    @Robert LMAO

  16. jaybuc Says:

Sounds like a simple meniscus issue to me.

  17. Mitch Says:

His first surgery in his career, and its for a clean up. I have no worries here.

  18. firethecannons Says:

Works for me too, he was a huge part of the win last season, glad he is back!

  19. chris L Says:

joe – someone needs to ask the buccaneers why they havent been able to restock their inventory since the super bowl! the jerseys on sale havent changed and they havent sold one white brady or devin white (or many other players) jerseys since before the super bowl. i want a white one with the patch. the glazers could be making way more cash! i get the winter maybe they didnt have inventory but what gives??

  20. Joe Says:

    Chris L:

Not sure where you are looking. Within a minute Joe found a white Devin White jersey.

    Brady too.

    Just choose “Select Player” option.

  21. chris L Says:

ah thanks joe. i was meaning when you search for jerseys they have the players (non custom) in the red with the LV super bowl logo but not white. the custom one for whatever reason even if you select player is more expensive.

i spent money for years on this team to break my heart and now i spend more after they win the super bowl. im a sucker for the bucs!!

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Perhaps Giselle woe him out and he got his Wee-Knee fixed.

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Wore him out

  24. Doctor Stroud Says:

I’m not concerned about this at all. The Bucs have a deep receiver corps. As far as I’m concerned, he can sign his contract well into training camp, maybe even game three of pre-season. Veterans can do that. If he can’t go, how’s Julian Edelman’s knee?

  25. Allbuccedup Says:

Now I see why they trade up for Darden.

  26. bucsince79 aka bumaneer Says:

    AB will be fine, he’s a f****** soldier… He wants a second ring… Everyone deserves a 2nd & 3rd chance in life….

  27. mark2001 Says:

Can you imagine a healthy Evans and Godwin… a healthier Brown than we saw at the end of last season? Gronkowski in football shape from day one? Tyler Johnson and Scotty with another year of experience? A healthy OJ? Brady completely up to speed with all the terminology of the system. Cappa back from his injury. The D backs with another years experience? Sounds pretty promising, wouldn’t you say?

  28. All lives matter Says:

Why did he wait till now to have surgery? He lost at least 3 quality months of healing time. Now we’re see him taking time off early because of this surgery. This is the crap that irks me about these prima donna athletes.

  29. SteelStudBuc Says:

Minor meniscus scope… Lavonte David did it in training camp and was fine by the season

  30. lambeau Says:

AB probably didn’t want being scoped being held against him in determining his price in free agency–pretended he didn’t need it, or actually hoped so.

  31. Scooter Says:

    Mort assume nothing.
