Tristan Wirfs Is Doing Tristan Wirfs Things

April 9th, 2021

Impressive video.

When the Bucs drafted Tristan Wirfs in the first round last year, the soon-to-be stud Bucs right tackle was known to have the strength of a horse.

Videos were out on social media of Wirfs setting weightlifting records while at the University of Iowa. Apparently, when he left the Iowa cornfields for the warm sun of Florida, his cornfed roots stayed with him.

Wirfs, like a good Iowan, is known to sample a few Busch Lights. He apparently must have a deal worked out with an Iowa-based Anheuser-Busch distributor because Wirfs from time to time will display on social media CARE packages he receives that include Busch Light fishing gear, Busch Light coolers and, of course, cases of Busch Light.

Hey, it’s what a cornfed from Iowa does. That, and inhale Maid-Rites.

It appears this past week Wirfs is back home in Iowa. He stopped by a local youth baseball practice to talk to the kids and he is hitting the weights in what looks like Iowa football’s weight facility.

Feel free to watch and admire your Bucs right tackle.

(When Wirfs returns to the Tampa Bay area, Joe needs to turn Wirfs on to Bromosa.)

    Blessed licht took this stud

  2. Jerry R Jones Says:

Nothing like a good Maid Rite.

  3. Winny Testaverde Says:

Another 2020 “miracle”…this stud picked as the 4th tackle off the board?! Head & shoulders above the 3 picked before him thus far. If I recall ( and now shudder )…the immortal Joe Haeg was penciled in at right tackle prior to the draft. Yikes!

  4. SOEbuc Says:

Boss. A Wirfs jersey would be a good investment.

  5. TampaTown Says:

    Omg. Busch Light. Barf

  6. Sport Says:

Honestly, those 2 reps probably took half a season off his career. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

Somebody get this man a trainer to work him out properly, sanely and safely.

    Geesh…

    In BA I Trust!

  7. Eric2706 Says:

Well said @sport! Well said. He has good strength and I’m impressed by his athletic abilities. But I’d prefer him smashing DE’s in the mouth on GameDay.

  8. Leighroy Says:

Uh, if you’re wondering how Whirfs got so strong in the first place, you’re looking at it. Now you want him to stop? Iowa cranks out linemen like you crank out TPS reports. They know what they’re doing!

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    owwwwwweeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

……………my back hurts just looking at this kid doing this……

  10. SKBucsFan Says:

Now if Wirfs could just get Anthony Nelson to bulk up a bit we could half the line from Iowa. Nelson has good instinct and is quick, but gets held up by NFL O-linemen despite his moves.

  11. Bradybucs Says:

    BUT BUT BUT…

Licht got fleece out of a 4th rounder by the 49ers, though, right??

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Just don’t hurt yourself young man!!!

  13. ClodHopper Says:

Remember a few years ago when Iowa State fans drank Nashville completely dry of Busch Light.

  14. Eric Says:

Smh no y’all bitching about how the man get ready for the season have anyone of y’all blocked a NFL caliber DE if not I’m going to trust Tristan and not you!!

  15. BA4President Says:

I can’t keep up with all of the players social media accounts, so I appreciate the Joes & Co. sifting through it for us.

  16. Mitch Says:

That is a heavy weight to power clean. Looks to be using only his shoulders and back to move the weight too. I’d prefer if he got some bend in his lower body instead of standing straight up, but there are different variations of this movement all over the country. Strong kid.

  17. Hodad Says:

    Friggin beast.

  18. 813bucboi Says:

    well said @eric!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  19. Buckylove Says:

Maid Rite recipe looks close but I swear I can taste a little hint of mustard as well. Since it is a state secret we may never know.

i’d trust not the professional athlete but professional coaches and bio metric analysts about proper safety and risk. just because doing what you did got you there doesn’t mean it was the best and most efficient and safe.

now that your there, protect and develop … attention to detail.

    and btw that was incredible.

  21. Buc1987 Says:

    WOW!

  22. Alex Says:

He’s doing a hang clean, not a power clean. The difference between the 2 is that a power clean is from the ground and a hang clean is from around the knees. If you know what you’re looking for, you would see that he has a quick twitch of his hips, which, when you’re as explosive as he is, is all the lower body movement he needs. Other less athletic and less explosive people will have a lot bigger knee bend and hip pop. Also, being that he’s a professional athlete who is working out at a D1 school in this video, there’s a good chance that there’s a coach or trainer that’s keeping an eye on him.

He is back home where they are are all converted Bucs fans, when I see him, I think of his mother. Of course Tristan performed in 2020 season admirably well but it is she who really is the unsung hero. By herself she raised this boy into a respectful man and Bucs right tackle. So glad he is a Buc!

  24. SlyPirate Says:

Just read a redraft of the 2020 draft. Wirfs went 5th. I think he would have gone higher in hindsight.

  25. Bucsfanman Says:

Glad we drafted this kid. Looks to me like a “cornerstone” to build upon.

  26. Jeffbuc Says:

Wow some of you posters are pathetic. Crying that our offensive lineman is lifting weights in the offseason. He has probably done this same thing 1000 times while in college. You really think he just decided to do this exercise on his own. Like the Iowa strength coaches would let him do an exercise wrong and risk him hurting himself in a college weight room. Really saying he should be bending his legs more blah blah blah. Are any of you professional athletes. This guy has millions riding on his health. You really think he would be doing something incorrectly in the weight room jeopardize his whole career. Man what a bunch of sissies this world is becoming. We use to get juiced watching Allstott puking a Jeep up hill. Please wirfs don’t weightlift anymore you might hurt yourself. PANSIES

  27. Sport Says:

He’s already got lifting records up there. Nothing to prove in the weight room. Doing obscene weight, stressing joints like that is not conducive to long term health.

We have Superbowls to win, not lifting records.

    He’s

  28. adam from ny Says:

    impressive…that’s some serious weight…

but i’d rather have his stick to tik tok dancing…

  29. MadMax Says:

My guy, he has them all…. Cant teach speed, strength and intelligence, or size. So glad we landed him. I was surprised he was still available, and he clearly turned out the best of all the O linemen picked last year.

More to come…future LT maybe? Go get that bigger money Tristan. (yeah, i plant seeds here and there lol)

  30. MadMax Says:

Oh, forgot to mention he broke Brandon Scherff’s record of hang cleans, he did 450×4 compared to the #5 picked guard’s 443×3.
