Trent Dilfer Regrets Not Being Picked By Colts

April 26th, 2021

Former Bucs QB Trent Dilfer.

No, Joe doesn’t expect a former first-round pick to have any warm and fuzzies over a team that moved on from him when he more often than not stunk out loud. That is just not human nature.

Still, it was very interesting to Joe to read how recently, former Bucs quarterback Trent Dilfer confessed he has “regret” over not being selected by the Colts instead of the Bucs in the 1994 draft.

Some background: Over the weekend, it was the anniversary of the famous Bill Tobin-Mel Kiper spat on BSPN where Tobin, then the shot-caller of the Colts, chose damaged-goods linebacker Trev Alberts over Dilfer.

Kiper, who was high on Dilfer and low on then-Colts quarterback Jim Harbaugh, excoriated Tobin for selecting Alberts at No. 5 overall saying, in so many words, the guy who ran the Colts clearly was over his head and the proof was in the Colts winning just four games the previous season.

Shortly after the Colts picked Alberts, Tobin, who apparently heard Kiper tear him apart to a national television audience, did a live interview with Chris Mortensen on the same BSPN network. Tobin returned the favor on Kiper beginning his rant with “Who the hell is Mel Kiper, anyway?”

Of course the Bucs picked Dilfer next at No. 6.

So recently, Dilfer did a podcast with Ryan Russillo of The Ringer and claimed there was a backstory to this event. The recap of the interview was transcribed by creator, curator and overall guru of Pro Football Talk, the great Mike Florio.

Dilfer told Russillo that his agent informed the Colts if they drafted him, he would not report and he would sit out the season and re-enter the draft the following spring. That doesn’t often endear a general manager to a college player.

Dilfer then told Russillo he has serious second thoughts about his stunt with the Colts.

“So I always try to defend the Colts that way. And I regret it because I could have played with Marshall [Faulk] for a long time.”

Faulk, of course, is in the Hall of Fame. But it wasn’t like Dilfer played with a bunch of stiffs at running back with the Bucs.

In Dilfer’s first and second seasons, Errict Rhett ran for over 1,000 yards each year. Then in 1996, the Bucs drafted Mike Alstott, who is discussed by sober men as a potential Hall of Fame candidate. And in 1997, the Bucs drafted Warrick Dunn who finished with 10,967 yards rushing, which is more than Hall of Famer Earl Campbell.

So in Joe’s eyes, Dilfer just gave the Bucs and his former teammates a big “Eff you!” while whining about how he screwed up and didn’t get drafted by the Colts. His assertion that he would have been with Faulk a “long time” is quality revisionist history. The Colts’ coach was Ted Marchibroda, a man who believed in throwing the ball. Dilfer threw 17 touchdowns against 43 picks his first three seasons.

And people bellyache about Jameis!

So Dilfer regrets that he didn’t play for the Colts instead of the Bucs? Joe wonders what the late, great Dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, “The Big Dog,” Steve Duemig, would have said about Dilfer’s confession on the air?

    So do the Bucs… 🙂

  2. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

    We do too Trent.

  3. Medicated Pete Says:

    He’s truly a douche nozzle

  4. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

    Time traveling Trent Dilfer.

  5. BertoRican Says:

Trent Dilfer was my first QB… that I wanted benched for his backup.

So many fond memories of Shaun King. Thank you, Trent!

  6. Bucanero Says:

    So do Bucs’ fans Trent

  7. Pete I Says:

Trent Dilfer started a lot of games in a row and was the QB when we finally went back to the playoffs. He was the QB when we went back to the playoffs. Any long term Buc’s fans who remembers the 70’s and 80’s also should remember when we finally went back mid 90’s. And how important that was to so many. Dilfer would not have helped the Colts of that era do anything. He was better off in Tampa and did what he could given his talent. He was very much a product of Tony Dungy’s failures on offense.

  8. Buczilla Says:

Man that’s some low class stuff from Dilfer. Why spit on people who paid you damn good money to suck? I thought I was crazy when I read that Eddie George was in the HOF. He’s in the college football HOF, but not the NFL HOF. If he gets in then Alstott definitely has a chance. 😛

  9. Pete I Says:

Dilfer threw 17 touchdowns against 43 picks his first three seasons.

    And people bellyache about Jameis!

Dilfer led the Buc’s to the playoffs in his first 4 years…Jameis never did.

  10. Pete I Says:

Dilfer was 39-39 as a Buc’s Starter over his 6 years including a playoff win. Jameis 28-42. Dilfer threw 80 Int’s in his 6 years, Jameis 88 in 5 years. On the other hand yards and TD’s Jameis was tops by far…121 TD’s to 70, 19,737 yards to 12,969. Jameis also runs away with the fumbles and pick sixes. Both QB’s wasted Buccaneers years. Wish we hadn’t drafted either one.

  11. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

    ^^^^ Well done Pete I

  12. John Says:

The Big Dog would have ran with this. We all saw how awfull Dilfer was. I remember going to watch the Bucs play the Jags in 98. There fans even said we were a quarterback away of the SB. Dilfer sucked and everyone knows it. I wish the Colts Drafted him too. We could had taken Bryant Young imagine that Sapp and Young! Dilfer blows and even the Ravens know that.

  13. Defense Rules Says:

Great job Pete I. Of course, some of us believe that a lot of a QB’s success also has to do with the quality of the TEAM that surrounds him. Great QBs like Tom Brady lift up the talent that surrounds them even higher. And then there’s Trent & Jameis.

  14. Jason Says:

So Trent looks back on a punk move he did coming out of college and says “Ya know, I probably shouldn’t have done that. And if I hadn’t, I would have gotten to play with one of the greatest all-around running backs of all time.”
What a disrespectful a-hole. He should be cancelled.

  15. Beeej Says:

$400k. That was the difference between what Doug wanted per year and what Hugh Culverhouse offered. For THAT, we sent a (#1?) for Jack Thompson from Bengals (which they parlayed into Chris Collinsworth.) AFTER realizing Thompson couldn’t play pro football, we sent a #2 for journeyman nice guy Steve Deberg. THEN we spent a #1 on Vinny….. THEN we spent a #1 on Dilfer. Doug could have been our qb that whole time

  16. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

    Trent Dilfer = Career backup!

  17. DoooshLaRue Says:

As much of a dildo that he is, he’s still a SB winning QB ……… right Joe?

  18. Youngbucs Says:

Pete I thank you because some like to act like it wasn’t a different nfl back then. Maybe poor jameis is playing in the wrong era since people love to compare his gm to 20-30-40 years ago it’s insane. The lengths some go through to justify his turnovers.

  19. Cobraboy Says:

A classic example of “The older I get, the better I was.”

  20. Leighroy Says:

Trent needed to throw that ball only 3 rows further into the stands for me and the boys to catch it, after the 97 Wild Card win over the Lions. Brooks, sapp and lynch chasing down Barry Sanders, closing out the ol’ sombrero, what a memory for a yute!

  21. Bob in Valrico Says:

I actually see similarities between Trent and Jameis. Both were gritty players
that were better suited to the intermediate and deeper passes than passes out of the backfield and the shorter passes that required some touch. IMO.
I remember Steve Deberg as one the best play action passers to play the game.
His deception with the ball is something missing from a lot of current players
    skillset.

  22. SB~LV Says:

    What ?
miss out on playing for Ray Perkins ?

  23. SB~LV Says:

Self edit…Trent didn’t have the pleasure of playing for 3 a day Ray

  24. SufferingSince76 Says:

Trent Doofus was a terrible QB. The video tape doesn’t lie. The guy couldn’t even complete a screen pass half the time. He was a stiff with the Ravens who’s only job was to not turnover the ball. The defense did the rest.

  25. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Leighroy,

    I was there too.
Great way to finish out at the old Sombrero!

  26. Oxycondoms Says:

Ravens were also a qb away from winning the super bowl, oh wait.

  27. bucnole Says:

Most BUCS fans wish the same thing Trently

  28. No Risk It No Biscuit Says:

Then he wins a Super Bowl and his team cuts him. There is nothing else to say.

  29. Oneilbuc Says:

Brady came to a team that gave him everything he needed to win . This false narrative about him taking a 7 and 9 to the superbowl is a lie. They drafted a offensive linman in the first round wich they never did for the last quarterback. They brought in Gronk, AB , and 4 runningbacks to make sure he had a running game. Then they actually call run plays to take pressure off the quarterback that they didn’t do for the last quarterback but 1 year and the defense was ranked 32. Then when the no risk it no biscuit offense didn’t work they changed the plays to fit what the quarterback does best and that was a good coaching move.

  30. Red Skeleton Says:

Everyone talks about TD’s and INT’s. I was most disappointed at how many times he threw to a wide open Alstott and was far too often short of his feet much less to his hands. He did at least took a beating for us.

  31. Oneilbuc Says:

So far this team looks like where young quarterbacks careers come to die . And I hate to say it but it’s been every young quarterback that get drafted to the bucs . This is why to me yall are blind bucs fan. This is why yall are afraid 😨 of Brady leaving or retiring . I’m not afraid of developing a quarterback because I know it can be done .

  32. SufferingSince76 Says:

Well, Oneilbuc, if Winston wins the starting job in NO, we’ll be able to see firsthand if what you say is true.

  33. Dooshus Blokneel Says:

But , if Jamus had Barry Sanders and Randy Moss and Jerry Rice and and and.

  34. Youngbucs Says:

Everything oneilbucs just said is an exaggerated opinion. Yes the drafted a olineman in round 1. They were gonna do that regardless but I will break down the truth! Wirfs is good a beast. But he did not make this online go from almost 50 sacks to 20 sacks. This oline was here and already good Tom Brady IQ pocket awareness and decision making unleashed this online! This running gm excuse is over blown go check the stats and rankings from 2019 to this year we actually have very similar run gm! Then the defense give me a break how can any actually criticize the defense in 2019 with what they had to deal with give me a break. And the defense was actually better at multiple things in 2019 again go check! No risk no biscuit is about pushing the ball down field right?????? Well Tom Brady lead the league for the entire season in deep pass attempts and deep pass completions!!!! So again who’s pushing the false narratives here real fans know the difference between 2019 and now and it’s the biggest upgrade we made to the roster that you never acknowledge QB QB QB!!!!!! Yes Brady was the biggest upgrade the Bucs made you can list any names and easily knocked down excuses you want Tom Brady don’t need em!!!!!!!

  35. Youngbucs Says:

SufferingSince76 he’s afraid to admit that it’s win time for winston in NO. He has no backbone when it comes to that but will blame the Bucs all day. Go in the archives he’s repeatedly praised the saints as a bettering coaching place organization better online run gm and defense. All the things he says winston needs but is scared to admit it’s time for him to produce. But laid out all these things we couldn’t and wouldn’t do with Brady. Super bowl or bust super or bust!!! Well we won the super bowl!!!! Is it winston turn???????

  36. Youngbucs Says:

How many here actually believe that in 2019 with a better QB we in the playoffs???? It didn’t even have to be Brady just competent QB play we would have made it!!!!!!

  37. Cainishere Says:

Lol what a funny story. We should head it up as “stories from the trash heap” hosted by Jameis and Trent.

  38. DoooshLaRue Says:

I love it when Youngbucs smacks down Oh-kneel and his BS opinions regarding the Soiled Messiah.

    #truffforohkneel

  39. Mike C Says:

Man if this site had existed when dill hole was at QB you would have seen some really harsh @%#$. People think JayMiss got a lot of heat, people HATED dill hole even more than 3.

  40. Sport Says:

One-Ill continues to live in some bizarre reality inbhisbown mind.

Youngbucs continues to present the real world with diligence, yet with no improvement in sight.

It is good for fodder though. Thank you both for your continued efforts.

Dilfer was the quarterback that introduced me to singlehandedly losing an NFL game with over 50 minutes in the game. He was special that way.

If it makes any of you feel better, Casey Weldon put an physical ass whoopin on Dilfer the Diuche during a heated golf match. Dilfer was running his crybaby mouth and Wheldon shut for him.

Ahhhh, that makes me feel better for watching his horrific QB play….

    In BA I Trust

  41. Oxycondoms Says:

Was dilfer good enough to not throw 4ints against the rams in nfc championship game?

  42. Perimeter Blocker Says:

I wander how the Colts feel about this? Did Dilfer do them a favor?

  43. Swampbuc Says:

Trunt Dildo, who was a horrible NFL quarterback, and then got fired by the network, is now an attention whore. Congratulations, Truntly, you’re finally good at something.

  44. Swampbuc Says:

Someone should ask Brian Billick for his opinion on the matter.

  45. DayOnePaul Says:

Who the hell is Trent Dilfer?

  46. Oneilbuc Says:

Sports . You and youngbucs share the same opinions that’s all 😆🤣😂. In 2019 did Jamies have Wirts , AB, Gronk, Fournett, no . Did they change the offense no . Brady told BA let’s try to win another way .Did RoJo have 981 yards and he misse 4 games last year no . That’s the difference between 2019 and 2020 and the defense was waay better and the kicking. Remember the Gaints, Seahawks, Falcons, how was the defense and the kicking those games?? Even the last 2 games of the season Evans, and Godwin wasn’t on the field but that’s not a excuse for Jamies . But when Godwin and Evans were hurt and Brady played bad that was a excuse for Brady lol 😆😂!!

  47. Oxycondoms Says:

Redskins game brady bailed out the bucs it was his leadership and experience that pulled the bucs out of each miscue. With jameis it wouldve snowballed with him

  48. THERUTH Says:

TRENT SUCKED!!!!!!! didn’t he throw a ball after running out of bounds on the sideline?

HE WOULD HAVE BEEN CUT A LOT SOONER WITH COLTS.

He thought he was a superstar in his own mind.

I saw him walking with another guy and walked past him and said ” hello Trent” he ignored me and kept walking , the guy next to him turned around and said ” hello’ acknowledging me.. that guy was little known than JOHN LYNCH a class act

  49. Joe Says:

TRENT SUCKED!!!!!!! didn’t he throw a ball after running out of bounds on the sideline?

YES! He should have been cut on the spot for that stunt! Got benched for it. Came against the Giants at home if memory serves. Along the right sideline.

  50. August 1976 Buc Says:

The Jury is still out on Jameis, the early returns = the most Turnovers in a 5 year period of time as a starter in the NFL by more than 20 over P Rivers as of 2019 season. Can Jameis finally become an average QB, maybe, but to honestly play up to the level of his draft position most likely no. As for Dilfer, most Buc fans wish the Colts drafted him too. I Was glad the day the Shuan King took over for Trent. Not that Shaun was great, but gave hope that the Bucs could be at least competent as an offense. Trent is a better analyst then a football player. But then again so are many players. GO BUCS!!!!

  51. Buc1987 Says:

The day Dilfer left….I thought to myself…that idiot will never win a Super Bowl.

Then he signs with the Ravens.

  52. An Erection for Sacks Says:

An Erection for Sacks, too, regrets that Trent Dilfer was not picked by the Colts!!!

Remember all that “grip it and rip it” nonsense?

He’s simply just another poster boy for: “Million-dollar arm, five-cent head.”

  53. Youngbucs Says:

In 2019 did the Bucs have Brady no!!!!! The had bottom of the league turnover differential!!!!! 5th worst in the league but had the 5th most takeaways in the league with 28!!!!! Some bad defense go figure!!!! What defense lead the league in tds scored per gm in 2019 the Bucs #1 in the nfl. Also I believe it was the most tds scored in the regular season in buc history playoffs not included. Anyway some bad defense huhhhh????? What defense in the nfl had the worst starting field position the Bucs !!! Yes the horrible Bucs defense!!!! What defense suffered the most with 100+ points given up off of offensive turnovers????? The Bucs yes that bad Bucs defense!!!!! So in 2019 did winston have gronk 😭ab😭wirfs😭Lenny 😭 no he did not😭😭😭!!!!! Now I just listed what the Bucs defense did in 2019 and what they had the potential to do in 2020. If they weren’t being held back! It had everything to do with Winston and nothing to do with gronk😭ab😭wirfs😭or Lenny 😭!!!! Now did the Bucs have winston in 2020 no!!!!!! The had an actually QB who did not hamper the team. 2020 Bucs defense 25 takeaways 3 less than 2019 and way less tds scored by the defense!! But we were 6th in turnover differential! 11 out of the 14 teams that made the playoffs in 2020 were at the top in turnover differential!!!!! Thank you Tom Brady the missing piece for making the Bucs respectable with the talent that was already in place and ready to win!!!!!!

  54. Youngbucs Says:

Oh by the way that’s the real difference between 2019 and 2020 🤡

  55. Youngbucs Says:

Bruce Arians knew what was holding this team back they watch the film. And know the actual vibe on the team. Trust me every player in that locker knew what the main problem was in 2019. These are grown men with families and coaches with jobs on the line! You put the team first and make the best decisions to get better. And the decision was canning winston and it was the absolute correct decision.

  56. Swampbuc Says:

This Oneilschmuck must have been dropped on his head repeatedly as an infant. JaMiss was so great he spent 2020 watching his former team win a super bowl while he picked splinters out of his butt sitting behind Taysom Hill as the Aints’ third stringer. For a salary only slightly greater than thte vet minimum. JaMiss personally cost the Bucs their last two home games of 2019 against the Texans and Fowlcons. But sure, wish for JaMiss and somehow find a reason to hate on the GOAT.

  57. Youngbucs Says:

The case can be made the under the circumstances the 2019 defense was actually better!!!!!

  58. Joe Says:

The case can be made the under the circumstances the 2019 defense was actually better!!!!!

When the Bucs got rid of Hargreaves.

  59. Sport Says:

    Joe – That’s a Bingo!

One-Ill- we need your dissenting crazy narrow-minded opinion, someone has to take on that role now that DiaRhealist and T Min have learned their lesson.

In the end, JW fired himself. Bad decision making on and off the field, immature leadership skills (might be fine for teenagers in college, but grown ass men don’t follow dopes)
To top it off, JW lied to his teammates, the Cardinal Sin.

Improved decision making at QB made our online one of the leagues best, which was easily predictable. You just can’t or wont see it.

    In BA I Trust!

  60. Cobraboy Says:

Oneill lives in an alternate universe of his own making.

His non-stop theme is the Bucs let America’s Turnover Machine down (I still remember the multi-year Weapons for Winston campaign.)

In the normal, real world, Oneill’s mancrush let the Bucs down, and 30-30 sealed his fate.

    and gave us the GOAT.

So in a left-handed way, 30-30 did, in fact, bring the Lombardi to Tampa.

While ATM ate W’s created by Bree’s while ATM rode clipboard pine…

So, yes, Buc fans owe ATM a debt of gratitude.

  61. Oneilbuc Says:

Sports. So I guess to you big Ben rape them women as well right??? But you wasn’t there so how do you know Jamies are big Ben is guilty?? Lol 😆🤣😂

  62. Oneilbuc Says:

But 1 thing about it I’m happy I raised my son to be able leader and not a follower . My son plays sports and so far from the ages of 5 years old until now he’s been a leader on his football team and a all star player . Then he played in middle school and he was the captain on the defense and this year will be his first year in high school and he has the same mindset. I told him his hold life that no one should have to motivate you to play hard . No coach, are especially no player. Some of was raised different from others. And if it took Brady to come in for them to play hard I wouldn’t want them on my team especially when they are getting paid millions of dollars. So that’s why I don’t believe your opinion about Brady in this defense.

  63. Darin Says:

He definitely stunk out loud more often than not. As a teenager I got many a chants goin at the ole sombrero for Trent. None good. The guy was baaaaaad. I wish Indy woulda taken u too Trent.

  64. Oneilbuc Says:

Joe. So what was the circumstances in the Gaints, Seahawks, Falcons, if we win those games we are 10 and 6 ?? Are what about the past 6 years with those bottom ranked defenses that gave up a lot of games at the end 🤔 ??

  65. Oneilbuc Says:

The problem I have with yall is it’s a lot of blame can go around with this team . But to make 1 guy the scapegoat is just stupid especially coming to a team that never developed a quarterback. So Dillfer does have a point it matter where you are drafted coaching and the organization those guys go to plays a factor on how well they play .

  66. Sport Says:

Oneilbuc- I take back the funny name change I had for you based on your recent responses.

Firstly, IMO, there is no greater contribution you can provide than to raise great children. I don’t so much about your son playing sports, but I do care about character. I’ll take your word for it that your son is an outstanding young man.

Second, your randomn leaps across subjects and logic shows something is lacking. And a rational argument is most likely not possible, evoking sympathy.

Thirdly, if you still get enjoyment coming here and commenting, by all means, keep Rockin!

    In BA I Trust!

  67. Youngbucs Says:

😂😂😂😂 i can’t yo this guy is funny

  68. Cainishere Says:

But see oneilbuc we replaced him and won. Huge difference. You need to actually check your sheet lol

  69. Cainishere Says:

I cannot wait to read the comments and excuses when Jameass throws picks vs the Bucs

  70. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilbucs just stop they was already playing hard. But it’s like running into a brick wall repeatedly. You always trying to change subjects and preach like it makes what you’re spewing mean more. You were mad they got rid of jameis got Brady. And you’re still mad after winning a super bowl. Do you know more than BA do you know more than the players on the team? So everyone on the Bucs are dumb and don’t know football right. Since training camp the comments for everyone has been consistent. I get you’re mad but at some you gotta man up and admit what happened. And what they are saying maybe you should teach your son about being realistic even when you don’t like the outcome.

  71. ModHairKen Says:

    Well, he made his bed.

  72. Oneilbuc Says:

I hope throws picks when he play us as well !!

  73. Dooshus Blokneel Says:

Tet now hold team back runn in are teem . Whold in know. F

  74. TJ Says:

Jameis has accomplished more in a quarter century of life than all of these so-called Jameis experts on this site COMBINED! I mean, the level of Jameis-hate on this site has become nauseating. Only in America can a man’s worth, intellect, even his character be summed up by a TD-INT ratio…or is the fascination with your TD-INT ratio just cover for a deeper seeded bias that you cowards are too shamed to reveal any other way? Here’s an idea, for all you effeminized, stat-loving, Brady-worshipping, keyboard-assassins…how bout you correct your own “turnover problem” by finding something better to do with your time than post rant after rant, & random stats, on stories that aren’t even about Winston. Go in your mancave…snuggle up with your TB12-clad-SuperBowl-Gronk-teddy bear and shut up!

  75. Youngbucs Says:

TJ TJ you trying but failed bro. Just because winston made it to the nfl does not make him more accomplished in life than anyone. The nfl is. It the end all be all to life😂it’s not the pinnacle of life kick rocks. Also we can criticize winston all we want it comes with the territory. This happens in every sport chill out!!!! Brady worshiping keyboard assassins huh? How do you think this all started winston nut huggers getting up tight because people wanted more from him. Y’all get no sympathy from me trying to play victim now. Some many have and had repeatedly talked trash here about the Bucs and Brady. The debates have been happening for years here 🛑. Trashing teammates and coaches all in the name of winston. Nah bro y’all don’t get to play victim now the archives are full of it. Oneilbucs knows that not a lie.

  76. Drunkinybor Says:

I’ll never ever forget it was a Game against the Giants where our defense was awesome and I prayed Dilfer would just take knee every freaking down and you know what he single handedly lost that game for us. This is also why I soured on Winston. It got to the point where your just crossing your fingers hoping he won’t screwup and sure as death and taxes he would screw up. It’s a terrible feeling as a fan. One that I didn’t feel at all with Brady with him your hoping we get the ball back cuz nothing but goods going to happen.

  77. Drunkinybor Says:

Hey Jamies I mean Tj… Toughen up this is sports talk. It’s why we are here. Your acting like we’re on some dating site and talking crap about Winston. This is the forum to discuss and yes have bad opinions about players. DUH!!

  78. Dlavid Says:

Man Joe!! You really got the natives dander up and going with the mention of Dilfer! Lol! He was awful !

  79. Wesley Says:

    The feeling is mutual Trent.

  80. Cainishere Says:

Let’s see about this supposed hate for Jameis and all he has accomplished in his lifetime. Shot BB guns at people on FSU campus. Nice job. Stolen 32 dollars worth of crab legs from Publix. He isn’t allowed in Publix anymore. Well done. Was accused by a student of sexual misconduct then to save face returned the favor and filed suit against the victim.. super job.. stole soda from a Burger King. Imaginative indeed. Came to the Bucs and showed his ass on and off the field. Well done there. Deliberately lost games out of anger. Florida State makes an announcement that Jameis was an embarrassment to the school and it’s boosters. Holy smokes now he has a Uber driver in fear she could have been raped. Outstanding. Yes you are right he has done more in his relatively short life than we have. Glad I haven’t accomplished as much as he. You are an idiot.

  81. kaimaru Says:

Craig Erickson’s first two seasons starting with the Bucs – 5973 yards, 34 TDs, and 31 Ints yet we wasted our 1st rounder on Dilfer who in his first two seasons starting had 5633 yards, 16 TDs, and 37 Ints. What a horrible pick he was.

  82. adam from ny Says:

he was often referred to on the radio as a rubber penis from a porn shop because it was easily interchangeable with his last name…

i couldn’t believe they could call him that on the radio but they did…and often

  83. adam from ny Says:

i was a dilfer fan, even though he sucked…even rocked the jersey

  84. Cobraboy Says:

@TJ: I don’t “hire” a QB based on his stellar intellect or character, even if he grabs crotches of Uber drivers.

I also don’t “hire” a turnover machine at QB.

Winston had a 5-year shot to show his stuff…and he threw it away to different color uniforms.

There are no moral victories in the NFL.

  85. Cobraboy Says:

    Craig Erickson > Trent Dilfer

I liked Dilfer until I didn’t like Dilfer anymore. Like America’s Turnover Machine, at some point an interception pushed me over the edge from “like” to “get rid of the bum.”

Dilfer is a superbowl winning quarterback and yes he played with a great defense just like Brady . So I guess Dilfer made the Ravens better because of his leadership lol 😆😂 just like Brady who yall worship . Lol 😆🤣

  87. Sport Says:

This is from the Ravens Team Website.

“Trent Dilfer’s performance in Super Bowl XXXV went down as one of the worst showings by any winning quarterback in NFL history – and he still got to go to Disney World.”

Pretty sure we won’t be seeing that on any site our current QB has played for.

However, We might see it on any regular season game JW plays in. SB is not on the cards for JW. At this point he’ll be darn lucky to be a journeyman.

    In BA I Trust!

  88. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I once cleaned the roof of one of Tony Dungy’s ex coaches, who shall remain nameless.
He told me the real reason why Tony Dungy’s offense was so predictable, was because Trent Dilfer couldn’t remember the plays!
I will never forget what he told me!

  89. LongSeason Says:

Trent ‘Lifer’ never completed as much as 60 % of his passes in a season, ever. Trent ‘Lifer’ never threw for more than 3000 yards in a season, ever.

  90. Rod Munch Says:

The thing that disturbs me the most is that when I see red and pewter uniforms and the #12, I still see Dilfer, and it triggers me, enough though it’s Brady now, I still see Dilfer. Ugh.
