Recognized!

April 25th, 2021

Rise up!

A receiver giving a pair of Bucs receivers props. Who could have guessed?

In a discussion of the best duos in the NFL recently on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” — for example, closet Bucs fan and co-host Peter Schrager selected Montez Sweat and Chase Young — co-host Nate Burleson hoisted up Mike Evans and Chris Godwin as the best pair of teammates in the NFL.

“These guys have been the best duo at wide receiver for a long time,” Burleson began. “They just don’t get the recognition. You remember the days when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were constantly looked past? … It’s not like that any more.”

Burleson is confident Evans and Godwin are recognized now since the Bucs won the Super Bowl.

Joe fully agrees. What other pair of receivers is better? Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham? Not really. Beckham is more of a blast from the past these days than top shelf receiver.

DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett? Maybe.

Juju Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool (or Diontae Johnson)? They are good, sure.

But none has the history and street cred of Evans and Godwin.

I agree joe no better WR duo than ours. Since they thru out a pair of rushers how bout we have another best duo in a pair of linebackers.there’s not a duo out there better than our LBs in white and LVD and we got the best WR duo. Let people keep sleeping on our Bucs.

  2. EA Says:

Best WR/TE duo (or trio) in the league period

  3. Robert Ernest Says:

    Totally agree!

Speaking of receivers, and take what you want from it (if anything), but an interesting dynamic took place last night at UFC 261. Evans, AG, Brady, Gabbert (who’s technically not even a Buc right now) and Griff were all in attendance and shown on the broadcast having a good time and all sitting together at the event.

However, also in attendance was Antonio Brown…except he wasn’t sitting w/ OUR beloved Bucs. He was chilling w/ and sitting right next to the amazing human being (sarcasm) known as Jake Paul and his “crew”. Needless to say, their party and Paul were cursed at and heckled all night, and even confronted w/ some harsh words from a respected MMA combat Legend.

AB is a great player, but nobody has ever said he makes the wisest or best decisions (quite frequently)

Again, take from that what you want and draw your own conclusions. It may be nothing, but it’s worth mentioning and a very interesting dynamic.

    AG?

  6. JGhotier Says:

    @Cometowin2

    Alex Guerrero (Brady’s personal trainer)

There was another dude sitting next to Guerrero that was definitely a part of the party, but I’m not sure who he is/was

  7. lambchop Says:

WR is not even close when you include TJ, Scotty, and hopefully AB.

That’s just unfair. Throw in the RBs and TEs, and defenses won’t know who to stop.

This offense will be more dangerous than last year.

    Let that sink in.

  8. OneBucc55 Says:

They are the perfect compliment to each other…

Licht whiffed on his share or draft picks early on but over the last 3 or 4 years he’s been solid imo…Especially drafting WRs & LBs…

  9. Medicated Pete Says:

    Devin White & Lavonte David

  10. Alanbucsfan Says:

Amari Cooper , CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup are pretty good when Dak is healthy.

  11. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

LMAO! And what specific last year (or decade) were the DallA$$ Cowgirls relevant?

“They just don’t get the recognition. You remember the days when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were constantly looked past? … It’s not like that any more.”

Wow. That statement is profound and really resonates with me. We all spent the better part of a decade plus just barely existing. It was sad. It is what it is though. We stay loyal and hope for positive change. That can relate to real life especially now also. The Bucs are firmly on the map now and all the pain and suffering was worth it. I’ve been on top of the world since February 7, 2021. I make money. I spend money on the Superbowl 55 Champs merch. Rinse and repeat!

  13. JimmyJack Says:

Best duo in the league. And then lets just add Gronk to that tandem……its just an unreal assortment of weapons. And then you add Scotty Miller who is a great compliment and quite literally got us to the SB with that one huge play right before halftime.

We all gonna look back years from now and really miss this group. Savor it now Bucs fans. Its hard to imagune that we will ever have a group of offensive players thats anything close to this ever again.

A very special day and age of Bucs history.

  14. Dean Bucs fan for life!!! Says:

Evan/Godwin are the best WR Duo, Period! Jason Licht and his scouts should be recognized for their draft prowess! Great free agent work as well! Great work! I agree, a very special day and age in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history! “02, ’20, and let’s keep it rolling!!!

  15. OneBucc55 Says:

Basically cmurda…Tom Brady gave this franchise a face lift…

A much needed one at that…

Hats off Jason Licht once again…He survived the Lovie Smith experience and the Dirk Koetter sh!tshow…He finally found a rockstar HC in BA who could put together a quality coaching staff and develop draft picks…lmo, the only things left to do now is defend our title and find a young under-study for Brady…

  16. SB Says:

They are certainly the best WR Duo. Especially when they have TB12 throwing to them!

Sidenote: It is really nice not being in the corner anymore after 6 months!

  17. cmurda Says:

    @OneBuc55

Oh yeah man. 100% with everything you said

  18. SOEbuc Says:

Nate made good points. They’re professionals that put in work. And yes Devin/LVD when you say Buccaneers are getting recognition??? This show is one of the most “popular” right, Joe? Lol. Bucs LBs are gonna go off this year.

  19. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Something is telling me the Bucs are going to pick Kellen Mond with either their 32 or 64 pick in the draft. Pretty good interview with him and Florio on Florio’s site today. Mentions Brady several times.

  20. Gofortheface30 Says:

Juju and Claypool being used as an example is kinda…I mean..ok I guess, if we’re listing top 10 duos, but my god there are many receiving corps I’d rather have than those two tik tok butt plugs. Carolina, Dallas, Atlanta, maybe Denver if Sutton is healthy, San Fran etc. Neither here nor there I guess, maybe I just can’t stand JuJu And his very pedestrian ways ever since AB left

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I believe they are the best duo…..but, I’m sure there are those who would chose another….
But, best trio…..Evans, Godwin & Brown……there is no way any other trio is better.

  22. BUCFAN4LIFE Says:

    Couldn’t agree more “Joe” !

  23. BUCFAN4LIFE Says:

The BUCS have NO weaknesses this coming Season ! GO BUCS !!!!

  24. PatsBucsfan4years Says:

Can’t wait for speculation is over and NFL Season starts…
    THIS IS GONNA BE SOMETHING!

  25. Rads Says:

    In this order…

    Mike and Chris
    Julio and Calvin
    Tyler and DK
    Woods and Kupp
    Chase and Diontae

  26. Cainishere Says:

It is funny when teams who have 2 or 3 exceptional players get compared to the Bucs who have 20+ exceptional players and somehow the other team gets picked to beat the Bucs SMH analysts are stupid these days.

  27. Buczilla Says:

When you take the best receiver in the NFL over the last five years (Mike) and add another in the top ten with Godwin you’d have to be Ira (love your work man!) or Simms to not call them the best duo in the NFL.
