The Legend Of Tristan Wirfs Grows

April 25th, 2021

Feat of strength.

The Bucs really do have their own version of Paul Bunyan. Or Bigfoot.

How many guys carry around a tree just for the hell of it? Might be a dead tree, but a tree no less. Well, the Bucs have such a guy.

Bucs right tackle Tristan Wirfs is famous for Twitter videos of his mind-blowing feats of strength when pumping weights. And from time to time, the 6-5, 320-pound manchild will jump out of a shallow pool filled shoulder-deep with water. Just try jumping out of an empty pool in the kiddie section.

Well ,now you can add a Sasquatch-like stunt to Wirfs’ legacy. Last night someone Twittered a photo of Wirfs carrying around a tree. Yes, a tree!

Wirfs has what looks to be a dead tree around 30- or 35-foot in length straddled onto his shoulders. Not only does the thing have to weigh hundreds of pounds, he’s balancing the damn thing. How he lifted that up onto his shoulders is beyond Joe’s comprehension.

If Wirfs isn’t one of your favorite young Bucs, Joe wonders if you like football.

Seeing this photo reminded Joe of a favorite “Six Million Dollar Man” episode, where Bigfoot (played by Andre the Giant) fought Steve Austin and swung a dead tree — much like Wirfs has on his shoulders — at Austin like a baseball bat.

Joe still wants to see Vita Vea and Wirfs in an Oklahoma drill. NFL strongman Roger Goodell can go jump in the Hudson River.

Jason Licht just texted him “Knock it off!”

  2. MadMax Says:

Hahahahaha…you go Tristan….most of you dont know but unorthodox training produces unorthodox results….whatever it takes. Beast mode, warrior code, sniper code….you dial in lol

  3. SlyPirate Says:

Yawn … Jump out of a pool, with a tree on your shoulders, with a tree house, with kids in the tree house, and I’ll be impressed.

  4. August 1976 Buc Says:

Now we see if Jason can find a “Babe the Blue Ox” in this draft to go along with Tristan “Bunyan” Should be some trading and hornswoggling going on in this draft from Jason to see if he can somehow get a stud player or 2 even though picking as the Champs in each round. GO BUCS!!!!!

  5. MadMax Says:

I got you covered August….a guy to play on the O line right there with Wirfs…Landon Dickerson….youtube some vids of him, you’ll see.

  6. MadMax Says:

eh my comments are always in moderation lately, lol, all good…im back to watching yachts for sale on youtube….ill buy one eventually, when i retire in 20 yrs.

  7. adam from ny Says:

  8. Buczilla Says:

    LOL

  9. Leighroy Says:

Can we get an NFL’s strongest man competition in the offseason?

  10. DoooshLaRue Says:

Pretty cool, but have you ever seen Durable Donnie lifting his full plate of food at the Golden Corral?

    Now that’s impressive….

  11. Scott Pearce Says:

Big deal. I do that every Christmas. 😉

  12. Hfxbuc Says:

True story: my great grandfather died from a hernia sustained by carrying… a telephone pole home for fire wood.

  13. geno711 Says:

Not only best 1st round pick the Buc’s have ever had but would also be an MVP at an outdoor campsite!

  14. BUCFAN4LIFE Says:

“SlyPirate” , the video of him jumping out of the 3 ft. end of a pool didn’t impress you ? YOU try doing that ! And remember he weighs in at over 300 pds. !

  15. 1Gr8Buc Says:

@geno…. He is nowhere close to hall of fame status yet lol. Far from the best first round pick the Bucs have ever had….. FAR FROM IT

  16. Old School Nole Says:

    BucFan4Life: Sarcasm

  17. mark2001 Says:

Looks like a dead Hemlock or White Pine. And looks like he is in the Northwoods, or more likely the Northwest woods.

And Hfx..Just a PSA…if the creosoted and anti-termite chemical filled telephone pole didn’t get him from the weight, the chemicals in the smoke sooner or later likely would have. Telephone poles…Railroad ties… pressure treated lumber. No thanks.

  18. mark2001 Says:

    As firewood that is…

  19. BigMacAttack Says:

Absolute props to Jason Licht for rising from the ashes to become the best GM in the league almost overnight. I have no doubt he will totally knock it out of the park in the draft this week.

  20. gp Says:

    @mark2001
They don’t treat the cedar poles, still.

  21. SB~LV Says:

Lol.. I’m not going to look it up but what was the knock on him pre draft that had others rated before him ?
We still need interior OL help C/G
I am imagining Wirfs lined up next to VV in some goal line short yardage packages

  22. DoooshLaRue Says:

    geno711,

I love Wirfs but the best 1st round pick we ever had was our 1st one.

    Lee Roy Selmon.

    You must be young.
    😉

  23. spicoli Says:

SB – I think the knock on him was his technique or not enough upside. He’s an athletic freak of nature and glad that NYG, NYJ, and CLE passed on him.

I would like to have Licht draft a young OG/C to replace Cappa and Jensen in the ’22 season

  24. August 1976 Buc Says:

2nd that D LaRue, Wirfs is awesome, but Leroy is the GOAT draft pick for the Bucs, made by Ron Wolf and company. GO BUCS!!!!

  25. Razor Ramone Says:

Better, stronger, faster. I remember that episode. Getting Andre the Giant to play Bigfoot was genius!!

  26. mark2001 Says:

gp… may be, but he didn’t say what the pole was made of. So before burning them, one should make sure it is Western Red Cedar and not treated Pine or Fir.

  27. DoooshLaRue Says:

Wow, you guys sure know a lot about wood.

Surprised our resident wood expert Rod Munch hasn’t chimed in yet.
I think he’s an expert on Alabama Black Pine….. from Bessemer, AL.

  28. Cobraboy Says:

What is the context for this feat? Clearing land? A photo-op? Gathering firewood for ma marshmallow roast?

  29. Capt.Tim Says:

We have two of the biggest, strongest Tackles in Football. They were both just knocking defenders flat, all thru the playoffs!
And Our Guards and center are the best in the league!

Brady really is a genius. He found a team that only need 3 pieces.
A Running back, a WR, and him!

And this year- we should be even better!!
Thank you, jason Licht and the Glazers!!

  30. Irishmist Says:

Great, now all the tree huggers will be on his a$$.

  31. #1bucsfan Says:

Glad he’s protecting mr seven rings. Make it 8 babe

  32. Ben green Says:

Guy is a freak. That is a great episode Joe. TW is what we call an old fashioned road greater.

  33. OneBucc55 Says:

Nice to see but please! please! please! be careful big guy…

The Bucs have somewhat of a history or losing young promising players to unfortunate freak accidents/injuries…

See: Kendall Beckwith, Aaron Sears, Brian Price, Cadillac Williams, etc

  34. Bucamania Says:

So Wirfs is carrying around trees and Gronk is catching passes thrown from helicopters… take it easy boys!

  35. adam from ny Says:

wirfs can easily carry 30 more pounds on his frame and carry it well

  36. bojim Says:

lol MadMax. I’ve been looking at them too for some reason.

  37. SB Says:

Incredible strength coupled with a Wrestling background spells trouble for DEs

  38. Oneilbuc Says:

He’s becoming one of my favorite Bucs!!!

  39. mark2001 Says:

Irish…that tree is dead, so I doubt the huggers will have a problem. But the tree humpers like Swaggy might be jealous that Wirfs can lift one of his girl friends over his head.

  40. DoooshLaRue Says:

So again I’ll ask……..why can’t he be our LT?

  41. MadMax Says:

@bo, youtube nautistyles, they do a fantastic job of showcasing different yachts.

@DooshL, it seems possible in the future….and im down with that.

  42. SOEbuc Says:

D Smith, Vea, Wirfs competition would be something I’d watch.

  43. Joe Says:

So again I’ll ask……..why can’t he be our LT?

Because your favorite player is at left tackle. 🙂 And playing rather well.

And the way Wirfs plays at right tackle, only a moron would want to him. He plays like a Hall of Famer there.

Never try to fix something that’s not broken.

So if you still don’t know, then Joe has to apologize. He can’t help you.

  44. MadMax Says:

No offense Joe, but Wirfs is a beast…if, HUGE if, he can play that LT spot somewhere down the road, im all up for it. I lobbied for him because he has those special genetics. No knock on our man Mr Smith…hes holding it down so far. LT and RT is solid tight right now and you dont want to mess with it, thats for sure.

  45. mark2001 Says:

Have to agree with Joe on this. Unless D is no longer doing the job, we shouldn’t even think about it. Anf if D doesn’t do the job and if Wirfs politics for it, then you might think about it. But otherwise, why risk a great thing?
