The Anti-Myron Lewis

April 30th, 2021

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

Joe will never forget the night former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik exposed Myron Lewis.

The former Bucs cornerback, a 2010 third-round pick, was awful. He had a cup of coffee in the CFL after the Bucs mercifully released him and that was that. It seems, however, he learned something while attending Vanderbilt: how to con people.

You hear it all the time. “We want guys who love football.” Well, Dominik explained what that means. Do guys bust their arse in practice and work their tails off away from the facility to improve?

Every player claims he loves the game, but does he? Dominik found out about Lewis the hard way after watching Lewis loaf and just go through the motions in practices. He was much more interested in Team Glazer’s cash than succeeding on the field. Team wins? Who cares?

When speaking this afternoon about new Bucs edge rusher Joe Tryon, Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians sounded convinced Tryon is the anti-Lewis. Tryon is chomping at the bit to learn from Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett and do what he can do to help the Bucs Go for Two.

Arians said of Tryon, that he is:

“Smart, passionate, intelligent player who loves to play the game,” Arians said. “Obviously, he has all the skills in the world. But the passion and energy he plays with really excites us. I think he will be able to contribute right away in a number of different roles.”

In fact, when Arians was suggesting how much Tryon could learn from JPP and Shaq during the Zoom conference, there was a split-screen showing both Arians and Tryon. When Arians mentioned how Tryon could soak up from those two veterans, you could see Tyron nodding his head up and down — the only time he moved in the video conference unless he answered a direct question.

Without speaking, Tryon was saying, “Let’s get to work.”

You can already tell Tryon has a big personality. And that fits right with the philosophy of Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. The Bucs’ shot-caller has said it is his experience that guys with large Type-A personalities are more likely to work their tails off and grind to improve themselves. They are more likely to be driven to excel.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of Myron Lewis these days?

Myron Lewis remains 7 yards behind Jordy Nelson ( signature play that I recall ).

  2. Delaware Bucs Fan Says:

Have no idea what guy looks like on film. But he puts off some JPP vibes in his demeanor and drive. Hopefully those two can sync up and have JPP Rev.2 out there.

Man Dominik had some bad drafts.

  3. Ricordo Says:

Myron is waiting to be recalled by the Arizona Rattlers. Since October 2015.

  4. Ricordo Says:

But he has fond memories of Detroit.

Love for the game? Is that why he sat out last season? If I would have been blessed with his athletic skill, I would have found a way to play during these COVID times (because I LOVE the game) of football). Even if that would have meant making a major life sacrifice, like no contact with my family or friends, or WHATEVER IT TOOK. But, unfortunately, that wasn’t Tryon’s mentality… leaving me to believe that he plays for more for money than the love for the game.

Dominika is the worst gm in the history of the NFL. How he gets on TV is beyond me. His opinion is like taking weight loss advise from Rosie o donnell.

  8. Swampbuc Says:

Moron Lewis was a Dumanik special.

  9. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

Joe, you should have asked that question with Shaq and JPP on the split screen.

Shaq would be nodding his head up and down, Yes!

JPP would be shaking his head from side to side, Nooooooo!!!!

During a easy victory this year, JPP’s back up recorded half a sack, JPP threw down his water bottle and put himself back in the game. Noooooo!!!!

Every time I think I’ve figured out what Mark Dominik’s dumbest GM move is, JBF pulls out the pool net and pulls another terd off the bottom of the septic tank.

  11. Dewey Selmon Says:

Myron Lewis made EJ Biggers look good. Tryon has no choice. JPP and is going to be all up his a$$ whether he likes it or not. And that’s not a bad thing.

  12. Joe in Michigan Says:

Myron Lewis was a bad draft pick in 2010, and the Bucs also picked the famous Brian Price in the 2nd Round that year. What made Price famous was how he’d lay on the field, pounding the turf, like he just had torn both of his ACL’s. He’d get up after a while, like he was just tired and taking a rest.

2 U dubbbbbb players getting after the QB that should be around for years. Excited to see those 2 meeting at Matt Ryan this year and retiring him like Brees! Next, Donald will be seeing UW ghost everywhere he looks. Good ole brainless Winston will be throwing dime INT’s all year…. think he can throw for 40 this year.
