Bucs Now Have An “Arsenal”

April 15th, 2021

Look out, NFC!

A former NFL punter who has a damn good weekday radio show — yeah, a punter — sees only one team in the NFC that will challenge the Bucs for NFL supremacy this fall.

Pat McAfee, who hosts one of the highest-energy, football-centric shows heard on SiriusXM Radio, is in awe of what Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht has built.

The Bucs signing Giovani Bernard, McAfee said, should be like watching how running back James White dissected defenses with checkdowns and short throws from park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, Bucs-Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

The comparison isn’t baloney, Bernard said yesterday when introduced to the Tampa Bay pen and mic club. Bernard and White go way back to their high school days. In fact, Bernard said he consulted White about playing with Brady.

“You saw what [Brady] has done in New England with James White, who is a very close friend of mine,” Bernard said. “I grew up with James over in Fort Lauderdale at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. I have a very close relationship with him.

“Obviously, I spoke with him when I was picking the team I wanted to go to. He had only great things to say about Tom.”

Bernard said the opportunity to play with Brady, especially after talking it over with White, was “a no-brainer.”

McAfee believes the addition of Bernard (and the potential return of furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown) makes the Bucs a super team.

“Now the backfield for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is as such: Leonard Fournette, Ronald Jones, Giovani Bernard. Gee, that to me, add it in with Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Gronkowski, Tom f@cking Brady, Cameron Brate and a retooled offensive line. And an entire defense that is just hot and just won a Super Bowl.

“Oh, and Scotty Miller I forgot. And maybe Antonio Brown.”

The Bucs have “an absolute arsenal,” McAfee said, and teams lacking weapons are saying to themselves, “Oh sh!t!”

McAfee believes the only team that may stand in the way of the Bucs repeating is led by some guy who works on “Jeopardy.”

Why is it that Joe is more geeked for the start of the NFL season than the draft? Makes Joe want to chug several Bromosas at Big Storm Brewing.

I like the sound of SUPER TEAM.
I think winning 14 games just might be the floor.

Don’t tell me those that truly thought we would win a Super Bowl with Brady, didn’t think to themselves WHAT IF:

    What if we win 1
What if we go back to back
What if we win 3 in a row

Don’t tell me at age 45 with 9 Super Bowl wins and already the 1st team to win 3 in a row, Brady doesn’t come back for the even 10.

Honestly started as surreal but could truly happen.

    All of it.

  2. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

Now – about that back up QB…this team is just one awkward hit around the knee area of TB12 from drifting into the unknown.

  3. Leighroy Says:

Let’s not worry too much about the backup qb. No vet still out there is going to step in and replicate the GOAT. No rookie in the latter 1st round or beyond can do the same either. Even if someone had to fill in for a couple games, this team could even drop a couple and still win enough games to make the playoffs.

The backup is simply a jersey that must be filled, but let’s face it, if they are forced to play for anything other than garbage time mop up duty, the Bucs are in a jam. No one out there can change that.

You don’t hear Porsche drivers worrying about their backup car after all do you?

  4. Hope springs eternal Says:

Ya Tom is totally essential for the Bucs to repeat. One cheap shot to his knees and season over as far as super bowl 2.

  5. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Most teams lose a few good coaches after winning the Super Bowl. The fact we retained all the starters and the coaches, puts us in first place to win another Super Bowl.

  6. Bird Says:

Dont get me wrong packers are legit

I think the rams may be the bigger threat

  7. Mitch Says:

    Pat is a stooge.

  8. Gofortheface30 Says:

Hot springs eternal – wow, hot take dude. So basically just like the chiefs, packers, rams and literally every other team in the National Football League? Thanks for the feedback

  9. SB~LV Says:

I can’t wait for Gene to start saying Geovani !

  10. PSL Bob Says:

There is the potential, and I say potential, for the 2021 Bucs team to go down as the greatest team of all time. It’s not one dimensional. Great offense and really strong defense. Maybe a little light on special teams, particularly in the return game. But other than that, we’re set. Only two uncontrollables working here – injuries and bad luck. Our schedule this year is built for domination. GO BUCS!!

  11. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Bringing Antonio Brown back now would be a mistake. Last year he behaved because he saw it as a last chance. And he did not play well during the regular season except for 1-3 plays all year.

He’s a spotlight guy, and if they bring him back he wants to get paid…not paying him what he feel he should be getting at this point is what will bring back his locker room attitude.

He’d end up getting deactivated like Keyshawn did.

And really, he is not worth it. If he had not been on the team in the playoffs, someone else would have stepped up.

  12. 813bucboi Says:

AB will be back before the draft!!!!

Folks must’ve forgot who we have in our locker room….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  13. stpetebucsfan Says:

We have no needs this year other than depth and future developmental projects.

Where are we thinnest? QB? Perhaps if you’re on the hate Blaine Gabbert club.

If we found a desperate team or teams with a NEED this year, might we parlay our picks into a much better first rounder for next year? The only way we wouldn’t improve our position is if we traded with the eventual SB winner.

  14. Mike Says:

Bucs will likely go Edge in the 1st, then maybe OT or CB in the 2nd, and probably a gadget type of RB/WR who can make plays in space in the 3rd.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

    The Bucs are repeating!

  16. SOEbuc Says:

Stpetebucfan…Rack up picks and let Licht go to work.

  17. SOEbuc Says:

Sounds like no one wants to draft a C before OT except me? Talk about the trenches. Jensen is going into a hefty contract year and we will need a replacement that could be another young rock in the middle of this very talented oline.

  18. 40Forever Says:

Inotice how some pundits describe our arsenal as including either Brate or OJ Howard alongside Gronkowski. But rarely the three of them mentioned together. I’ll take Cam over OJ any day and expect one of them to be traded to make more cap space after the draft.

  19. SlyPirate Says:

    40Forever … Agreed.

OJ has promise but Brate delivers. Brate was the secret weapon in the playoffs. I don’t know what they’ll do with OJ but I’m confident they’ll keep Brate.

  20. Steven unterreiner Says:

I know a quarterback and he’s available he’s a little short white guy with the heart of a lion knows Tom Brady pretty well too. Come on you can guess it. Yep that’s right. He’s won three super bowl rings with Brady. Julian mother f****** Edelman. What???

  21. Steven unterreiner Says:

Brady the greatest gm in football. He’s making Bella check look bad in every angle of the game. I don’t think Brady would be b brady without belichick in his early years. How we learned everything you know in the first six maybe 10 years of his professional career.
