Bruce Arians’ Son Projects Bucs Will Draft A QB In Round 1

April 27th, 2021

“Stay cool, Tommy.”

Tuesday night just got more interesting at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.

Before Bucco Bruce Arians coached a Bucs game, Joe was quoting Arians’ outspoken son Jake, the former NFL kicker who has had a fantasy football podcast for several years. When Bruce Arians was retired, he was a frequent guest on his son’s fantasy podcast, and it’s pretty obvious to those who pay attention on social media that the Arians family is a close-knit bunch. The younger Arians also played in the NFL and has a tremendous knowledge of the game and, well, superior NFL sources.

So it’s with great intrigue that Joe presents Jake Arians’ first-round pick for the Bucs in his mock draft for TheDraftNetwork.com, the site that hosts his podcast. Arians chose QB Mac Jones out of Alabama.

While many thought Jones could go as high as No. 3, when he made it out of the top 10 the QB needs changed. He falls all the way to No. 32 to the World Champion Buccaneers as the future successor to Tom Brady. Jones and the Buccaneers should be thrilled with this outcome.

This is just too much fun.

For the record, Jake Arians was telling everyone before last year’s draft that the Bucs were drafting an offensive tackle. That wasn’t exactly going out on a limb, but perhaps neither is calling the Bucs drafting a quarterback when their starter is about to turn 44.

While it’s doubtful Jones is available at No. 32, if he is drafted by Tampa Bay, the Bucs preseason just got a lot more fun.

Mac is a booze hound. Naturally, Bruce loves him

  2. Jimmy Says:

Has Arians’ son been drinking with Chris Simms? No way in hell Mac Jones gets past the Patriots (if he even lasts that long). He seriously thinks Denver and Carolina both pass on Mac Jones???

  3. ModHairKen Says:

Swerve!!!! They want someone who can produce immediately on special teams. A LB is perfect. And they will have a few good ones to consider.

  4. lambchop Says:

    smokescreen

  5. All lives matter Says:

Selecting a QB so late in the 1st round is wasting the value of your pick. If a quality QB can slip all the way to 32 then he’s not quality, he’s a project. Why waste 1st round value on a developmental project? Especially when you could grab the same project QB, or any other project QB in latter rounds using less capital. A project is just a project at that point. If he’s quality then you move up to grab them but from #32 it would cost the farm on virtually a 50/50 chance it works out.

  6. Swampbuc Says:

I’ll smoke what Jake is drinking.

  7. JGhotier Says:

If we do, I hope it’s Davis Mills. He’s got the arm talent to make all the NFL throws and is very accurate w/ the football. If he didn’t have all the injuries, I think his name is elevated more than it is currently. However, that’s not the case and here we are today.

Unless Mac Jones somehow falls that far.

I really like the kid Grayson McCall from Coastal Carolina next year if we don’t draft a QB this year. Love the way he plays and competes too and kid has an arm, is 6’3” and has some wheels to provide that dual threat option if needed. Watch the game winning drive vs BYU last year. He is literally running down the field after he hands the ball off to his RB’s and throwing blocks and pushing piles to get extra yards. Plays w/ a lot of fire and passion too and it’s clear to see on film (he would need time to develop as the offense he’s in right now under coach Chadwell is not conducive to a smooth transition to an NFL style offense)

** I figure we finish w/ another high draft pick selection next year (like this year hopefully 🙏), so he would be available around our pick. That’s why I ruled out guys like Rattler and Sam Howell.**

  8. cmurda Says:

And then with the 64th overall pick we can get Kyle Pitts

  9. adam from ny Says:

and with the 32nd pick in the draft the tampa bay buccaneers select tom gravy, out of belicheat state

  10. MadMax Says:

Haha, he wont make it past the Pats, probably going before that…but fun to speculate.

We need a little more O line help and its gonna come in a way with Landon.

  11. Bucanero Says:

I’m against drafting QB @32 because I don’t think someone will fall that much but for a Jones @32 or even go up a bunch to get him. Yeah I can bay that. If NE or Denver don’t take one of the top five it could happen that one falls and we may snatch him if we jump ahead of Pittsburgh, WFT, and Chicago? How much would it cost to get to 20 or 19 that’s a first and some change. That scenario is there but I mean a QB would have to fall and some other skill stud also in order for other teams to bite the bait… improbable but yeah it would be fun to watch.

  12. Bucanero Says:

Kyle Pitts to Atlanta, the Broncos going D, NE going D… Naaah Colts would Jump before us and that’s not even counting all teams in the first 15 picks, Stinkin’ Panthers, Lions, Giants, Eagles, Dolphins… No way.

  13. SB~LV Says:

I’d love to hear what JL’s son thinks who the Bucs should take 👀

  14. westernbuc Says:

With all the upcoming contracts we should draft for the future. Our team needs depth at d line, o line, linebacker, and db. Arguably at receiver as well. If Kellen Mond falls to 32, im open to it. Mac Jones is going to the 49ers, so that’s a pipe dream. Otherwise, I’d prioritize the trenches in some way.

  15. Bbro Says:

My pick would be Kyle Trask he has all the tools to be great. Patience good thought process size and he’s a great student and he’ll learn from Brady

  16. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Seriously doubt Mac Jones makes till #32. but of he does, Bucs should pounce on him. As Most know, Defensive Line, a need (quality backup) for the Bucs, is weak this year and QB of Jones’ caliber just does not fall to 32. Pick the best guy available!

  17. ClodHopper Says:

I have a Pats fan friend that is panting over Mac Jones like Joe did Johnny. That town will implode if he’s available and they dont draft him.

  18. Bird Says:

First of all , mac jones is not making it to 32
Saints could not get their pick out fast enough
Plus it sounds like he is going 3 to niners which is crazy

  19. lambeau Says:

Suddenly today all the buzz is that Jones to the 49ers was the 49ers blowing smoke–I would love this pick as it would really set the Bucs up for long term stability.

  20. Ash Says:

I dont think he is going number 3 for sure won’t be there at 32

  21. KYBUCFAN Says:

Hey Lamar Jackson was drafted at #32 and everyone thought Baltimore was crazy EXCEPT us Louisville Cardinal fans!!!

  22. Hodad Says:

I believe him. Tom’s 44, Griffin is garbage. He hasn’t played any meaningful football in like forever. We brought everyone back but Gabbert, that should tell us something. Don’t think Jones will be there at 32, but someone will, and we could always trade up.

  23. Chesapeake Bay Bucco Says:

Maybe the Bucs trade up from #32 to get a Big Mac?

  24. Chris Says:

What a ride so far and to not technically need anyone position is a dream, but what does everyone think of Sam Ehlinger out of Texas as a potential replacement for Brady?

  25. Joe Says:

what does everyone think of Sam Ehlinger

He sucks out loud — unless Arians is going to convert to a wishbone. Then he’d be a helluva quarterback.
