Pete Carroll Vs. Tom Brady For Playoff Lenny

March 16th, 2021

“Lenny, listen to me.”

So it seems it’s the old college routine of recruiting vs. cash. Who will win?

In this case, it is the NFL.

And park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady is doing his best to recruit Bucs free agents to stay for another run at a Super Bowl.

On the other side of the table is Seattle coach Pete Carroll (who could be without a Pro Bowl, Super Bowl-winning quarterback) throwing cash in someone’s face.

That someone is Playoff Lenny.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated Twittered this morning that Playoff Lenny is torn. On one hand he has a chance to make history playing for the game’s greatest quarterback with an organization he apparently respects and enjoys.

On the other hand, there’s cold hard cash.

Joe isn’t surprised by this, but Joe thinks it is cool that Brady is trying to recruit players to stay. Talk about a leader.

However, let’s take this a step further. If Brady’s magic doesn’t keep, for example, Playoff Lenny — and who could argue with him if he chose to go for a payday? — why then couldn’t Brady’s recruiting pitch work on players still looking for a team to cut them a check?

There are a lot of good free agents out there, man.

In a follow-up Twitter, Breer, a former Patriots beat guy, noted Bill Belicheat is also sniffing around Playoff Lenny.

  1. BucinMagicFan Says:

Looks like he’s a Ram now! We’ll find someone good to replace him though.

  2. Chris Thomas from Heaven Says:

I don’t want Lenny back for some odd reason

  3. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

The most replaceable of the bunch. Now go get James White.

  4. Bird Says:

    ^^^^

    Where do you see rams?

If that is not true. Playoff lenny gets to play with brady or wilson
    Not a bad choice.

    Thats if russ stays

  5. PassingThru Says:

Patriots interested in Fournette as well.

  6. mark2001 Says:

Yes there are some good players out there.. White, Williams, etc..

And we wouldn’t want to overpay for anyone. That would be a slap in the face to the guys that have already signed contracts under potential market value to stay here. Hope you listen to Brady and stay with the fellowship…but if you want to take your money from Seattle and run to the shire, your choice.

  7. Bird Says:

Isnt it great to see the patriots go batt crazy and spend spend spend after years of being cheap cheap cheap

I wonder what caused the sudden change?

    Jk

    We all know.
    🐐

  8. TiredBucsFan Says:

Did he sign with Rams BucinMagicFan? I don’t see it anywhere

  9. Snook Says:

James White isnt a replacement for Fournette. Hilarious.

  10. Beeej Says:

Belicheat would sign the guy solely to aid in beating Brady next season

  11. ncbucsfan Says:

Bucin Magic…..pay attention to the details bro….details!!

  12. Robert Says:

a RB’s short shelf life would make him almost have to go for the cash, unless it was a garbage team, which Seattle is not. Wish him well either way.

And you know the Pats want to put it in TB….. lol. wouldn’t be surprised if the swallowed their pride and threw money at AB!

  13. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

I think he is confused with Lenord Floyd

  14. TiredBucsFan Says:

I would love having him back. He is a monster

  15. August 1976 Buc Says:

But not mentioned is also James White, who Brady most likely has J White’s # on his phone. If Lombardi Lenny Stays ok, but if not ok. Just waiting on Suh and Succop and AB. Then as the offseason continues, we will see which ringchasers show up. Fun Times in Buc Land. GO BUCS!!!!

  16. mark2001 Says:

Lenny…remember what Wilson was griping about? The O line. You want to run behind that O line? Come back to Tampa.

  17. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Speaking of the Pats, it is interesting that they are finally signing some good offensive play makers. Since they ignored that side of the ball for a couple of years, that must piss Brady off!!

  18. Swampbuc Says:

It would depend on how much the Heahawks are offering versus what the Bucs can afford. After his attitude adjustment discussion with Arians he was lights out Lenny. I’d love him back. If the difference is small, he’s a Buc. If the Heahawks are offering an Aaron Jones type contract, Lenny would have to take it.

  19. Pickgrin Says:

Bringing in James White seems like a no-brainer to me.

A true pass catching RB is the 1 thing the Bucs offense didn’t have last year and Brady has almost always had more to work with in that regard.

A QB as immobile as Tom NEEDS that security – to dump the ball off quickly to a reliable back when there’s heat bearing down on him.

Rojo and Fournette are not reliable pass catchers. Vaughn might be – but does he have Brady’s trust?

Tom knows White will be exactly where he’s supposed to be if things get dicey back there – plus White will make the catch damn near every time (and a first down nearly as often).

Just look at White’s #s his last 2 years with Brady (’18 & ’19) – insanely productive as a receiver:
    159 catches – 1400 yards – 12 TDs + 700 rush yards and 6 rushing TDs

  20. PassingThru Says:

If the Patriots do not procure a QB in the first round, this free agent signing frenzy is going to embarrass Belichick. Imagine overpaying for all those receivers, and the best QB you can roll out is Cam Newton.

  21. BucinMagicFan Says:

Yeah I jacked that one up. I saw Leonard F scroll on the bottom of the screen and Rams right as I saw this post. My bad guys smh. Fake News!

  22. Mort Says:

Let him go. Bring in Jamaal Williams from Green Bay.

  23. Ash Says:

    Hope lenny doesn’t come back

  24. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

I get where you are coming from with James White, the pass catching aspect of his game would be nice.

However, the thing Lenny and Rojo (to a lesser degree) did well for the Bucs is what Blount did really well for the Pats in their SB run – pound the ball, run the clock with a lead, give the D a rest so they could kick butt. Lombardi Lenny fits the Bucs well, but if he is not there, Licht will find what we need. I have total faith in Licht.

  25. Marine Buc Says:

I’m ok with losing Lenny. He had some great runs in the playoffs but he is easily replaced IMO…

  26. Jonny Says:

Most morons in the media love building narratives out of no evidence. Sports media is no different from the political arena. It was reported all of last season that Brady wanted Fournette in Tampa, when it was Licht that was responsible for bringing him in. I highly doubt if Brady put pressure on Licht to bring Fournette compared to who else could be had. Twitter journalism is worse than journalism.

  27. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Mort

I agree – William’s would be a great addition. I just dont know about his price. Might be a bit too high unless he signs a team friendly deal like everyone else has so far (except Godwin of course)…

  28. mark2001 Says:

I like Williams and White. But just remember… TJ will be a FA next year, as I remember. It would be great to have another young guy that we know fits into the team, knows the system, and will step up in big games and do special things. I think Lenny has proven that for us. Therefore, not to overpay, but if we can get him back like the rest, I’d be fine with that.

  29. Bojim Says:

    If the moneys good…..

  30. Joe in Michigan Says:

I’d be okay with Fournette coming back. If not, maybe sign Marlon Mack (if healthy), Jamaal Williams, or James White. If not, draft a RB.

  31. bucsfan951 Says:

im all for letting 4net walk. i feel like the bucs could do better in the draft and f/a plus i would like to see Vaughn get some playing time

  32. View from 132 Says:

Dude came here to get his career back on track. Mission accomplished. Thanks for the memories Lenny. But not irreplaceable.

  33. Gingjoe Says:

Thanks for everything lenny but way to many cheaper options out there and in draft

  34. Youngbucs Says:

Forget Lenny sign suh and the kicker!!!!!

  35. Gingjoe Says:

    Why joe why

  36. Buccos Says:

Wasn’t LF28 the fourth player taken in the draft? Wasn’t he the bellcow back in Jacksonville who rushed for over 1,300 yards one year? Wasn’t he the MVP of the playoffs for the Bucs last year? Why wouldn’t you people want to bring back a player with such accolades if you are trying to repeat as Super Bowl Champs? I’m not to sure about some of you guys…

  37. 813bucboi Says:

playoff Lenny wants the money now….lol…and i dont blame him…he’s an RB…he’ll be done in a few years…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  38. Adrnagy Says:

    Seahawks 3yrs $20m
    Bucs 3yrs$15m

  39. Adrnagy Says:

Offers for Lenny coming $3-6m yr. nice chunk signing bonus.

  40. mark2001 Says:

If the seahawks pay that much money and he signs there, all I can say is “good luck”. But have to look at the guarantees.

  41. Drunkinybor Says:

If he’s torn so badly. Let him go take back the offer. It’s a recipe for a grumpy Lenny. Anytime he wants more carries or something doesn’t go his way. He’s going to wish he went to Seattle.

  42. Joe in Michigan Says:

Buccos: It doesn’t really matter where somebody was drafted. Case in point: Josh Rosen was the 10th overall pick, and he’s not good at football. Fournette was good in the playoffs, but wasn’t very good in the regular season. Too many dropped passes, below average pass blocking, and lack of vision at times. If he can play like he did in the playoffs for a whole season, then he’s a keeper.

  43. Robert Says:

He should take Seattle for an extra 5 Mill….and he’d be the feature back I assume

  44. Drunkinybor Says:

I really want Jamaal Williams dude is a pass catching master. He never drops the ball. He catches everything he’s explosive and he great against the blitz. He’s a much better reciever than 4net

  45. Buccos Says:

Joe in Michigan If you are trying to run it back and you have re-signed all of the other main contributors to your success then it only seems logical to me that you would keep your top running back when it counted last year. He was a good receiver in the playoffs. He endured his time on the bench and showed up when we really needed him. I agree that his regular season was nothing special but we are a playoff team. I want players who perform on the big stage and when it counts and who are proven.

  46. Joe in Michigan Says:

Buccos: I see your point. I guess it depends on much Fournette wants, and if the Bucs think they can do better at the RB position. I wouldn’t mind Fournette coming back, but wouldn’t lose any sleep if the Bucs went in a different direction.

  47. Buczilla Says:

Lenny is better than Rojo, but not by an astronomical amount. I’d love to have him back, but it would be cool getting fresh blood too.

  48. SlyPirate Says:

Seattle is team turmoil. The organization is a mess. Lenny lived with that in Jax. He was miserable.

Happiness makes a difference. He had fun and success in Tampa. He’ll sign with TB for another year if the team wants him back.

  49. Joe in Michigan Says:

The way New England has been throwing around money, Lenny might be in for a nice raise.

  50. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

Yeah, Brady’s like wtf bill, why now, hope brady goes off on pats this year

  51. RPM13 Says:

Patriots don’t need Lenny. Let him stay where he is.
