Is Suh The Next Domino?

March 16th, 2021

On deck?

So the Bucs seem to have their high-end free agents taken care of.

Chris Godwin was tagged. Then Lavonte David was signed before park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady re-did his contract to enable Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht to have enough Team Glazer loot for Shaq Barrett.

Then, just hours after a video leaked that foot-rubbing, car-littering tight end Rob Gronkowski was shopping himself to other teams, Gronk signed.

Per James Palmer of NFL Network, the succession of players signed is exactly what Licht planned.

So is Suh next? Suh and kicker Ryan Succop are not huge-money guys. So Joe wouldn’t be surprised if those guys are signed next week or near the end of the month.

Same probably goes for furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing receiver Antonio Brown. Not sure how many teams are screaming for Brown to sign with them now, though in the past Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson have begged for him.

So if Palmer’s intel is accurate, should we expect Suh to push up his timetable and sign this week?

Hope we get these guys on board this week… just because I don’t have the patience of our front office. And I don’t have to do the front office job with all the constraints. And want to see Nacho and Stinnie resigned.

Regarding Brown…. I think a lower base with fine incentives would work well for the organization and Brown. He knows we will try to sincerely help him reach those incentives, as we did last year. And if he maybe has gotten his act together, why not stay here in an environment that has been very positive for him. His career likely couldn’t survive a relapse.

I think we will see players signed to extensions before we see significant signings

If the Bucs sign Suh, they have no weaknesses. Might as well go all in for a backup QB in the draft for Brady to groom
    Mac Jones or Kyle Trask!

  4. Robert Says:

I think y’all are under estimating ABs market value. Hate to see him on another team in our division.

The more I see, the more I think there is a chance that Fournette comes back. After all..he is part of the fellowship of the SB 55 ring. And with another year with TJ sharing the load, where he can recover from years of being the guy being constantly and overused, he can concentrate on his craft, rather than being beat up carry after carry. And get that huge contract a year from now, when there might be a higher cap and fewer RB FA’s.

Come on Suh, bring your big bad mad mug back. Awesome player, major cog in the Super Bowl Wheel. GO BUCS!!!!

  7. Casual Observer Says:

Kudos to Licht (and his accountants) for handling the cap issue so well. Got the main FAs signed. Getting these next few dominoes would be icing on the signing cake. I like BA and hope they can keep him – he is one of Brady’s favorite weapons in his impressive arsenal. Also injuries to WRs are common.

I don’t know if we play the Packers again this year but Suh feasts on Rodgers and Rodgers is terrified of him. That alone gets him resigned.

  10. Defense Rules Says:

Since Suh’s his own agent, he doesn’t have to be in a hurry. Got a hunch he’s just waiting to see how serious the Bucs really were about bringing the whole gang back. Obviously we’re serious and are going all-in for 2021. Gotta love it.

Salary CAP issues are almost inconsequential IF you’re willing to push TODAY’s money issues to TOMORROW. Several teams (Saints & Falcons among them?) did exactly that over the past couple years and are now paying the price for using that approach. Bucs MIGHT face that same problem down the line, but that’s TOMORROW’s problem. Let’s enjoy 1 more year with Tom Brady at the helm & go for the whole enchilada.

Man Joe…have to say that Kay Adams certainly does her Midwest roots proud. What a cutie.

  12. Capt.Tim Says:

Licht has done an incredible job. Keeping the team together was not drunken BS!
    The man had a plan.
I hope they resign everyone from year.

Joe, with all these guys playing GMs- you need to start a site called
    “JoeCapFan” .
And if I ever post any Anticipated contract terms,
May my inner eyelids be cursed with gamefilm, from the Ray Perkins/Leeman Bennett Era!

told ya licht would bring everyone back!!!!…lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

Saints have been handling the cap very well for years.
They still have a superior team despite all the cap problems. As good as team as they have been though in the regular season, they have been very average in the playoffs.

Their only potential weakness depending on your viewpoint is quarterback, 2nd WR, and 2nd DB.

I am good for the Bucs pushing the cap down the road when you have an elite quarterback and some elite defensive play. Let me say this, there will be times this year that our defense will probably look very average. It is the NFL and an offensive league. But when it comes time for the playoffs, I love having JPP, Vita, Shaq, David, White, Winfield, Davis, SMB, Dean, Whitehead, Gholston, Edwards and hopefully Suh. Those guys showed they can perform in the playoffs. I see every reason to be believe they will be excellent in the playoffs again next year.

Stop worrying about some sort of elite regular season. Rely on these guys being superior in the playoffs.

I really hope Suh signs because he wants to be here, but with Gronk getting $10 million, you think Suh is going to settle for less, I would say they have equal impact on their respective side of the ball. This will be interesting and I hope I am wrong.

  16. mark2001 Says:

rrsq…I heard it was 8 plus possible bonuses. I could see the same setup for Suh.

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

Suh is one of the smart ones in the NFl. I mean he has no agent. And he will make the best decision for him and not a Team. If the Bucs can get to within 2 or 3 mil of what others will offer him, he stays here. If not he leaves. I mean no state income tax is quite a lure if we can get close to what others will offer.

  18. Mr. B Says:

How does Kay Adams fit in to all this? She is a cutie though.

  19. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Suh! Suh! Suh! Suh!

  20. Buc A+ Says:

Mr Suh is a real gentleman soon to be a dad to twins. Tampa Bay is a great place to raise a family. Love his brutal play.
