Nuñez-Roches Gets A Two-Year Deal

March 18th, 2021

The Bucs have no plans to leave themselves thin in the trenches.

Every defensive starter is back for next season except for Ndamukong Suh (so far), and now the Bucs are bringing back top-quality depth.

Defensive tackle Rakeem “Nacho” Nuñez-Roches has inked a two-year deal to keep his career rolling in Tampa, per Philly-based longtime NFL insider Adam Caplan. The terms are two years for $5 million ($2.25 million guaranteed) with incentives that can bring the haul up to $6.5 million.

That sure sounds like a great deal for a 27-year-old that made 11 regular season starts — and more in the playoffs and Super Bowl.

Joe is almost surprised that Nacho wanted to stick around. Could he not have started elsewhere?

Regardless, general manager Jason Licht keeps ringing the bell at One Buc Palace.

Be the next to ring the bell, Suh!

Patriots wanted him to scout our defense same with Lenny.

  2. Destinjohnny Says:

    This guy can play
If he leaned up a bit he would be a 5 sack guy

  3. Beeej Says:

Not the greatest pass rusher, but I figure he can start for many teams

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Love RNR….great depth piece…and guess what…just like all of our other FA signings…this guy has a RING!!!

  5. Wesley Says:

I love depth but sign Suh dammit!

  6. Alaskabuc Says:

This makes me worried that Suh isn’t getting resigned and we slightly overpaid to keep Nacho and as much continuity as possible.

  7. Coburn Says:

Curious why people here and on red board think we overpaid. Did everyone expect him to play for beg minimum? He’s only making just north of 2 mil.. a bit more if he hits incentives. Seems reasonable for a guy that could possibly start for some teams. Is a couple mil that much in today’s league? Are we talking like 1 mil instead of 2? If he was a star like Barrett he’d be making several times what he is now

  8. Swampbuc Says:

I keep getting warm feelings in regions not normally reserved for Buccaneer news.

I may need to put a poster of JL up on my wall.

  9. Buc15 Says:

That’s a quality depth signing. He showed how well he can hold down the fort when Vea was out. This new Bucs Life is too good to be true.

  10. Swampbuc Says:

    Coburn – spot on, man!

Lots of mushy gray matter out there.

  11. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

What the hell, sign Suh and AB so we can all stop bitching. They were a huge part of the band.

  12. Mitch Says:

Suh always takes his time. I wouldn’t worry about him coming back unless you see it reported that he signed elsewhere.

  13. MadMax Says:

    and Another Important signing.

…..these guys know they can chase money after winning the 2 in a row thats here and coming right up.

…and yeah, Suh takes his time. Remember, he’s busy elsewhere.

Just realized the Bucs play NE week 4 next season. No wonder Belichick is on a free agency frenzy. I hope we crush them in Foxboro.

  15. Oxycondoms Says:

He shouldve got more money. Succop 4 million a year for a kicker lacking long range. Payscale seems off to me .

  16. Adrnagy Says:

Great we got him back. Played consistent. But we haven’t improve. Same players. Same scheme. Teams will have a full year of film.
Licht needs to add some good vet in every position. To mix it up.

  17. Adrnagy Says:

Where’s the psycho of geno …. he copy and paste all the messages posted here and then drives up my house lol.

  18. Ufcguy32 Says:

Gotta disagree, the offense will improve. Brady with full camp and a year in the offense. Defense will improve..Winfield year two and those young corners will get better. White will get better. The area we can improve is rb, and a little more pass rush. Draft and sign one. I think we should trade for hakiem hicks from Chicago he wants 11 million…get him next to vea…my God

    Swamp Buc:
Joe has the same problem but when a Buc player gets a sack. No word on if it’s been a problem in the press box.

  20. J$MCSports Says:

2 more guys to go. I hate Adams bolted but we may find a replacement for him in free agency. My bad 3 more Lenny, Suh, & AB for the minimum.

  21. Rod Munch Says:

He’s not leaving to start since he knows he’s going to be starting here half the year considering how often Vita get hurts. Good depth signing – you do not want to have to count on rookies on the defensive line.

  22. BillMFL Says:

Injuries happen every year. Solid backups can be huge. At least one starter misses at least a few games every year and some often miss most or all of the year. Nacho proved his worth and is cheap insurance. Bucs need every quality back up they can get.

  23. David Says:

    Awesome.
    Now get SUH!

AB would be icing but I don’t expect it.
I don’t see Lenny resigning at all

Joe, compared to many parts of the Country, the west coast of Florida is pretty safe. People for the most part are nice and respect each other. I’m a white boy and I’m in areas that are older, mostly black often. I go in shops, stores, diners and other places. No one has ever treated me bad or made rme feel unwelcome. We pretty much all get along here if we aren’t driving lol. There’s a lot to be said for that. The weather is fantastic too and no state tax. Florida is also open for business thanks to our governor and its gun friendly. Many Floridians could make a lot more money by moving to other parts of the Country. My standard answer has always been no thanks. And did I mention we’re the Super Bowl Champs. If you can’t be happy earning $5-6million, you’re an idiot.

    Depth.

  26. adam from ny Says:

don’t forget nacho is a great locker room guy with an infectious personality…

he’s a part of the great camaraderie this team has…

that goes a long way too…

    #TheGeraldiniSigningJustLeftTheBuilding

  27. adam from ny Says:

    @ destinjohnny:

they don’t want him leaning up at all…

he intentionally gained and bulked last year on purpose…

and will most likely come in around the same weight this year…

they want nacho snacking all spring and summer on big plates of nachos grande with the works on it

  28. Bucsfanman Says:

    LOL @ Swampbuc’s “feelings”!

This is a really solid move. Considering Vea has yet to start an entire season, this is a good signing. I don’t think his importance can be overstated.

  29. 813bucboi Says:

i think AB is next followed by SUH…

    Lenny wont return…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  30. TOM Says:

Nacho man & Minter very important for depth.

  31. rrsrq Says:

Nacho is also one of the guys that get the team juices going

  32. JC Says:

The Bucs’ Are Going To Have A Very Very Solid Chemistry In Their Locker Room.. Probably Better Than Last Year! They Will Probably Have More Time To Work Together And Create Schemes. WOW!

  33. Buccsfan1 Says:

We need to keep Suh,please find a way to get a deal done !!!!
