The legend of Buccaneers savior linebacker Devin White continues to grow.
Imagine being a heralded freshman arriving at Louisiana State University. What do you do? Study your playbook, get ahead in your classes and, well, hunt down one of your LSU heroes online and start trash talking.
Bucs linebacker Kevin Minter was that White hero while he was playing for the Arizona Cardinals in 2016. At that time, the Cardinals’ 2013 second-round pick started hearing from White via social media.
“He’s hitting me up, this kid [White], man, just in my DMs talking about, ‘Hey, man, I’m trying to break all your records, bro,’ Minter told Off The Bench on ESPN Radio in Louisiana.
“I’m like who is this fool hitting me up in my IGs talking about how he wants to beat all my records?”
Minter explained that White was obsessed with his weight lifting marks in college, stats and more. And it hasn’t stopped.
“He’s been on my ass since his freshman year in college,” Minter said.
Don’t get confused. Minter adores White and says he’s incredibly proud of his accomplishments in two years with the Bucs.
Minter says White’s next stop is likely the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. “If he keeps playing like he’s doing, they’re going to be sizing his ass up for a gold jacket.”‘
Well, a gold jacket is just fantasy now, but White certainly is on the right path. Between his personality, his play, and the massive spotlight he’s gotten as a 2020 Buccaneer, White is in great position to get to the Hall if he maintains his play and his health.

Not ready for a gold jacket yet. Now he just needs to learn to cover TEs and RBs coming out of the backfield as well as LVD does. Then he’ll be a complete LB. Nice start though in his first 2 years.

Simply a terrible 5th round pick…..I would much rather have had Josh Allen…..the pure ignorance of Jason Licht picking a MLB at #5…..(extreme sarcasm)

Over the next couple of years I want to see more Super Bowls, no injuries and phenomenal play from White and David. They make each other better. One of the best things White is doing is helping to shine the spotlight on David. He is finally getting the recognition he deserves and it could be opening a door to Canton for him.

His speed and smell for the ball are his signatures. If his pass coverage skills continue to improve, he’s golden, as will be his jacket.

I think it is a great show of respect both ways. I wonder if Devin might be making Minter a better player too.
They need to stable White’s horse where they can bring it out so he can ride it to celebrate his pick-sixes.
How will they accomplish that? Dunno. Ask Ringo, ‘e knows.

LVD deserves more than a cheap statue in Canton. He’s as good as Derrick Brooks. He’s been player coaching White ever since DW was brought here. I am psyched that Mr. David WILL finish his career as a Buc!
