“I Just Knew This Is Where I Wanted To Be”

March 17th, 2021

Talked contract at boat parade.

Bucs sack king Shaq Barrett made rounds of media interviews yesterday in the wake of agreeing to play another four seasons for Tampa Bay.

One was on NFL Network’s “Free Agent Frenzy.” There, Shaq was asked when he concluded he wanted to stay with the Bucs.

That came right about the time Ryan Griffin shuffled tipsy park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady past a throng of reporters as the Bucs disembarked from their Super Bowl victory parade.

“[At the boat parade], talking to Jason Licht, I just knew this is where I wanted to be,” Shaq said. “I knew they wanted me [back]. So I just wanted to give them every opportunity to make it work. [Shaq’s agent oily Drew Rosenhaus] was able to get it done.”

In fact, Shaq said all the vibes he and Rosenhaus got from the Bucs since Shaq and Licht spoke at the boat parade were very positive and pointed toward Team Glazer cutting Shaq a big fat check.

“I knew it was coming together since — my agent Drew was telling me, ‘It’s sounding good. It’s sounding real promising.’ So we were pretty much on board since, well for me, since the season was over.”

Now that’s old school negotiating. Shaq with his cocktails under the Florida sun talking turkey with the Bucs’ AC/DC-loving, Bud Light-guzzling general manager.

Joe likes it.

    Awesome. Welcome back!

Bs. Licht got screwed over. Competing with himself. While shaq was wait for the biggest $ deal …. oh that’s right the only deal came thru from us ! Bend over licht.

  3. Adrnagy Says:

I’ll be all over , every snap on this fool. One year wonder. Bandwagon.

  4. Buxszntkt Says:

Adrnagy, WTF is wrong with you ?
While Shaq is not Von Miller in his prime he is the best edge rusher we were going to find, based on both his skill set as well as already being part of the gang ! This group will pick up where they left off, they know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Being established with the group is worth $1-3MM. Why are you nickel and diming the deal. You think they could have got him for $2MM less per year ? Who the F cares ! Doubtful we will lose one of the FA’s cuz we didn’t squeeze him. You like getting your 3% raise per year ? You probably bitch that you don’t get adequate raises while you shop for everything you have at Walmart.

  5. Chris Thomas from Heaven Says:

@ Adrnagy <— he must be an absolute joy to watch a game with

  6. SlyPirate Says:

We’re the champs. Don’t worry about how MUCH players sign for. Worry about how MANY players sign.

  7. ManzielMadness Says:

    @Adrnagy

The “fool” with the second most pressures (and the most sacks) in the league (only trailing Aaron Donald)? The “fool” who pressured and had A. Rodgers and P. Mahomes eating turf in the biggest game that matters? You can go ahead and believe that we had the best offer but Leonard Williams of the giants gust singed for 3 years 63 mil for 12 sacks the past two years. J.J. watt signs for 2 years 31 mil for a meager 9 sacks the past two years. I’d say we got a bargain.

  8. August 1976 Buc Says:

Thankfully this is not the days of Hugh Culverhouse, Captain penny pincher. Great at saving money, and great at being the worst team in the league, but you know he saved money lol. If you want to win Championships you pay. Shaq is a excellent player and they know his value better than any poster here. You play to win the game, not be some kind of penny pinching miser. Sanity prevails at 1 Buc Palace.GO BUCS!!!!

  9. Defense Rules Says:

With Shaq back in the fold, Suh’s gotta be next. Not a clue how much $$$ we have left to play with, but right now we’ve got TWO interior DLinemen to replace: Suh & RNR (McLendon actually took the place of Vea when he went down).

Suh’s the critical player in our whole DLine far as I’m concerned. He commands attention in each & every game, and I see no signs of his play letting up even at age 34. Bucs have already made the decision to ‘mortgage the future’ and go for a repeat championship in 2021. Hopefully Suh’s the next piece in the puzzle. Time to git ‘er done.

  10. TheShaz Says:

When the season started the weakness of the defense was the youth of the secondary, then we lost Via for a while and that changed the dynamics of the dline. But come the end of the season the secondary made huge improvements. Via came back in the playoffs and everything was clicking. Front four with Shaq, Sue, Via & JPP. The LB’s White & David. And our young secondary got it together.

Shaq was a huge cog in that machine.

If the Bucs offense improves with a full off-season & training camp. It may force opposing offenses to play catch-up and Shaq & Comoany can feast.

  11. Bruce Blahak Says:

Every other team is shaking lineups up. The Champs are coming back, in tact! The NFL will be Bucland in 2021! A step above the rest….

  12. Bucsfanman Says:

Adrnagy is that guy at the stripclub that points out the scuffs on the young lady’s heels!
I’m glad he’s FINALLY going to start watching every snap. Maybe he’ll see what the entire league saw last year too.

  13. Leighroy Says:

Adrngy’s takes are as valid as the link in his red handle.

  14. Bird Says:

    Theshaz

You are dead right. I have commented on this before too
Secondary became a strength thru playoffs and offense began clicking after chiefs regular season game. But you could still see it wasnt there yet

Brady even commented that if they played another game after super bowl a month later they would have been much better

And he wont shut up about how much better they will be next year

Its possible to keep same team (for the most part) and still be a better team the following season

  15. Bird Says:

    Bucsfansman

    Thats pretty good comparison

I know thru a close resource down in one bucs place …. shaq, jpp, nassib, jameis will be back next year. All of them ink 2-4 yrs deals.

His take on what a fair market value of a Buc’s player:

    Adrnagy Says:
    March 17th, 2020 at 1:33 pm
Is not that jameis hasn’t receive offers … I’m sure he has. The fact that jameis may not want those offers and is waiting for Bucs. Loyalty ?
Pay the man 150m 5 yrs 100m guarantee.

His take on how Brady and the Bucs defense could not win:

I feel like vomiting after all this “Brady buc fans “ .
Brady came to Tampa bcuz he was not wanted. He’s a patriot.
    We took leftovers ….
    2yrs from now what ?
You think Brady will win SB here …. think about Seahawks, saints, 49ers, Ravens ,chiefs , patriots, Steelers …. with our defense ?

  17. MRRR Says:

Great for us. Awesome player and not hurting our salary cap that much. Bad for the rest of the NFL. If you don’t think so just ask Mahomes and Rodgers.

  21. Youngbucs Says:

Adrnagy it’s super bowl or bust for jameis right????? Winston stans love to hold every player to standards except Winston. He got everything y’all said he needed now. Great coaching great organization a run gm defense oline kicker. And he sat for a year and learned the offense behind a great QB. 25. Youngbucs Says:

Adrnagy is it super bowl or bust or just excuses??? Winston stans talk big but make excuses he got everything now right????

  26. Youngbucs Says:

Adrnagy where’s that same energy that’s your response?

  27. Bucsfanman Says:

I’ve been trying to figure out why Adrnagy has such an issue with Shaq. The production is there so it HAS to be personal.
Well voila!I was combing the list of Buc draft busts over the years and there he was:
    Noah “Adrnagy” Spence

What else could it be? He clearly hasn’t watched a Bucs game in two years and is jealous of Shaq’s success!

In everyone but HIS world, Shaq is a top-tier pass-rusher. I would state “FACTS” but, we know how much stock people put into those these days!

  28. cmurda Says:

    @Adrnagy,

You know why Shaq only got one offer and it was from us right? I’m going to give you a pass and say you were kidding about that. Come on man.
