“He’s Being Mean Over There”

March 11th, 2021

Badass reputation

Former Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter used to say he wanted a “badass” football team.

Well, to be that club requires badass players and coaches. The Bucs didn’t have enough of those under Koetter to make it happen.

But one current Bucs badass is a holdover from the Koetter regime, and that’s Jason Pierre-Paul, who continues to thrive after blowing digits off his hand, breaking his neck, and running on a bad knee.

JPP now has two Super Bowl victories and an 8-0 career record in the playoffs, a mountain of cash but he’s still hungry for more. He’s also angry at the All-Pro voters. What a beast!

Recently, the Arizona Cardinals posted a Twitter video of starting left tackle D.J. Humphries mic’d up during the 2019 season (see below). He’s seen tangling with JPP and also getting flattened by Vita Vea. But Humphries also is heard barking at former Cardinals teammate and current Bucs linebacker Kevin Minter about JPP’s rough attitude.

“He’s being mean over there,” Humphries says of JPP, among other things.

It’s fun stuff, but more fun was Humphries joining The Jim Rome Show yesterday, where he was asked to explain his on-field comments. Humphries said they were part fun but part reality, as JPP was hot and coming after him.

Then Humphries and Rome talked about how extraordinary JPP’s story of relentlessness is. Humphries said JPP deserves the ultimate respect and that JPP’s background matches his on-field game.

Joe’s just taking another moment to appreciate everything that No. 90 brings to the table. What a theft he was from the Giants three years ago.

JPP don’t give a damn if you’re a cool dude. He wants to rip your QB’s head from his body like a Mortal Combat finishing move and celebrate with his teammates!

  2. Christopher Schiefen Says:

Bruce used to HATE this guy as a rookie 😅

  3. geno711 Says:

JPP is just such an under rated athlete even at his age of 32.
A lot of guys lose speed. This guy is as good as ever and still one of the top athletes on the Bucs.

    Don’t bet against him.

  4. geno711 Says:

Just going to say this too.
It was so nice when the Bucs were winning at the end of year and during the playoffs how the trolls disappeared.

They are coming back. They are going to troll whichever free agent we did not resign and whatever guy we drafted.

As others have said, I wish we could put votes down for the future idiotic comments coming.

  5. Casual Observer Says:

Theft is right. He has been outstanding. A great teammate. O lines fear him.

  6. SOEbuc Says:

You took the words out of my mouth when people kept using LVD is 31 years old talking about his contract. He might of just signed a two year deal, but could easily see him still ballin out in four years like JPP.

  7. Robert Says:

VV flattened him just walking past him LOL

  8. Bucamania Says:

It’s over boy! Over!!! – JPP to Mahomes sitting on his butt

  9. Cainishere Says:

JPP is always in “Beast Mode” He clearly does not care who he faces or how good of an athlete they are or what they have said about him. His focus is to run through them and eliminate the QB from making any impact. You cannot ask for anything better. His tenacity is epic. GO BUCS!!!!

  10. Cannon Says:

JPP and Suh are both just mean dudes in between the whistles.

  11. Sesteprenelicus Says:

Ultimate respect for Joe for sitting thru the Jim Rome show to grab these gems for us.

  12. Stanglassman Says:

    Suh flattened that guy.

  13. Adrnagy Says:

And you want shaq to get paid more than this nine finger HOF firework tossing dude.

  14. VABucsfan Says:

Oh yeah!!!! Dude is a machine!!!

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

DJ Humphries is 6’5″ & 307 lbs…….VV knocked him down like he was a cheerleader…….

  16. Buczilla Says:

Thnx for the video, I laughed my butt off.

  17. VABucsfan Says:

Mean in football terms=Relentless!!!!!! Gotta be the predator, not the prey!

  18. adam from ny Says:

when jpp and suh retire maybe gronk can lead them towards the wwe and they can become the next tag team champs…

imagine jpp and suh in the wwe with all the shennanies!,

  19. Bird Says:

    Hahahaha

Chiefs just released both starting tackles from last year.

Schwartz and fisher both injured obviously but released from chiefs
Crazy. Good for us. Maybe they go after trent williams but not sure they have the scratch for him after mahommes 45 mil a year.

  20. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

LOL, I badly wanted us to draft JPP because he used to play here in Tampa for USF.
He is a true Bad Azz !

  21. adam from ny Says:

    must i say it again…

    jpp is the man !

been saying this for the longest now…

also, i’m really starting to rethink shaq here…

3 of our 4 linebackers are all coming back and excluding shaq, they are still basically the best in the biz…

if gm licht can go into the lab with bowles and arians on replacing shaq, they prolly can find another guy who can thrive in the system – with these other 3 great backers surrounding him…

you probably can get a plug and play guy in to have a darn good season, if they do the reasearch and all…

shaq might be pricing himself out, because they shoulda signed his azz already…

like i said, offer him up basically 15 mil a year for 4 or 5 years…
5 for 75 mil…and tell him to take it or leave it…

let him go be a 6 sack man on a sh!t franchise, where his pot belly grows because he will then eat like a king off his bloated salary…

    #AyeBloatedSalaryMeansAyeBloatedBellyForShaq

  22. Cainishere Says:

This video is deceptive. You see it is not JPP that he is talking about nor was it Suh who hit him. It was Vita who just barely made contact and still knocked him on his arse. Then he asked across the field why Vita had hit him so hard?
I am sure that he watched the film the next day or two and realized just how little of contact was actually made to pancake his big body to the ground. GO VITA!!!! GO BUCS!!!

  23. DoooshLaRue Says:

Well, since the Chiefs are in the market for a Premier and Durable tackle they should definitely make a trade with us.

Please KC I’m begging you……. take Donnie and give us a 4 or 5th round pick.

  24. 74 Bucs fan Says:

Vita Vea – just thick and knocking people on their a$$.

  25. SOEbuc Says:

My 32 is a steel with Ronnie Perkins. Looks like JPP and plays in a Bowels look alike hybrid.

  26. Buc50 Says:

The Chiefs had an awful day in the Super Bowl and we have fans that want to trade our guy for one of theirs. Take a break from the internet for a few days Dooosh.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

VV is a straight man beast!

  28. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Watch the games.

    Don’t believe the hype.

  29. Cainishere Says:

Okay, someone take the keyboard away from Dooosh. He may hurt himself. Good lord you serious?

  30. Winny Testaverde Says:

    “It’s Over!”

JPP waving off Maholmes after a late failed 4th down attempt. This guy has shown more resolve than most.

  31. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Wirfs 2020
    4 penalties
    1 sack allowed
    As a Rookie.

    Durable Donnie
    10 penalties
    6 sacks allowed
    As a highly paid veteran.

But yeah, I’m off my rocker.
Good for Donnie they don’t measure laziness.

  32. RachelWatsonsThong Says:

    #ninety=Simeon

  33. Capt.Tim Says:

    DoucheLarue

Do you understand the difference between playing Left tackle and Right Tackle?
    Never mind. You dont.

  34. David Says:

Man, I hope they can figure out a way to bring Shaq back because him and JPP are an awesome duo!

  35. David Says:

    Buc50.

His bane is DOOSH for a reason. Don’t bother responding. His football ignorance is astounding.

  36. DoooshLaRue Says:

    The way Wirfs sees it:

When I first started flipping back and forth, I think I was trying to look for a big difference,” Wirfs said. “Honestly, the only thing different is you got your other hand down. It just feels awkward at first but once you settle in it feels fine. . . . It kinda feels like wiping your butt with your other hand. It just feels a little awkward at first, but you get used to it.”

You experts keep believing in your overpriced, lazy LT.
I’ll keep criticizing him for what I see, not what I hear.

  37. DoooshLaRue Says:

Oh, and yeah I understand the difference between LT and RT.

    But then there’s this:

Wirfs’ 82.2 PFF grade ranks second at the right tackle position, and he has proven himself against some of the best edge defenders in the league — a list that includes the likes of Cameron Jordan, Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa.

So the LT doesn’t solely get the best Edge rushers.
Those are some big names the rookie went up against and did a great job.
    Maximum effort.
    Every play.

Move Wirfs to LT and move Durable Donnie for a draft pic.
    He doesn’t deserve the money.

  38. DoooshLaRue Says:

    David,

You do realize that we choose our screen names right?

So what you and your Einstein-like brethren are saying…… isn’t new news.

    It’s called self-awareness.
    Try it sometime.
