Emmanuel Acho On Tom Brady: “There Are No Signs Of A Decline”

March 26th, 2021

Improvement, no decline.

Joe hates to be repetitive, but this pulls back the curtain a little on why Joe often posts things from former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho when he talks Bucs.

Acho, the FS1 personality and co-host of “Speak for Yourself,” is the brother of Sam Acho, who was a backup linebacker for Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles in 2019. And Joe is confident Sam Acho often texts with his former Tampa Bay teammates. So it’s obvious how and where Emmanuel Acho gets his Bucs intel.

Simply put, with his 44th birthday a few months away, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady is far from declining, Acho believes.

Acho noted that numbers reveal when old quarterbacks are running out of gas. He cited a pair of future Hall of Famers as recent examples, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning.

“The flood of a decline, you can typically see,” Acho said. “It typically starts out as a puddle. We saw it with Drew Brees. His yards-per-attempt, his yards-per-game, continued to decline slowly but surely. Drew Brees, his health continued to decline.”

The same happened with Manning, Acho pointed out.

But with Brady? Forgettaboutit. “There are no signs of a decline,” Acho said.

In fact, Brady’s numbers actually improved last year, Acho said, and he is correct. Brady’s 40 touchdowns last year was the most he’s had in a decade, and his completion percentage was the sixth-best of his 21-year career.

What cracks Joe up is how quarterbacks (before Brady) playing their first year with Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians, usually saw a major spike in their interceptions. Not Brady. While he had 12 picks, Brady has won three other Super Bowls in seasons where he had as many or more.

You can view Acho’s take in the FS1 video below.

Bucs already hired me to be the Gate keeper of booze during next year’s parade. I’m the Great G.O.B.

I wanted to see TB12 leave New England, particularly after his last season there…which was like a punishment; Belichick gulag. Every year, I would ask: How good could he be with top-notch players, instead of Belichick retreads and hopefuls. TB12’s last NE season really bothered me…no O-line with a longer field (ie no kicking game), and almost no receivers with no running game…a punishment. For almost 20 years, 4-5 careers for the average player -TB saved Kraft millions; about $180M by one Boston Globe estimate! Belichick used TB12’s discount to trap other players…ain’t got that no more, eh, BB?

Great to see TB12 enjoying the game and FLA. This season should be even better. Has TB12 peaked, yet? Sometimes that is obscured via the consistent winning. Of course TB is a total team guy…so everyone wins. Looking forward to more of the best plays/games ever. Cheers!

the young weapons are keeping brady young…lol…

reminds me of when i got my mom a puppy for mothers day even tho she had her other dog since i was in college…lol…

friends and family would come over and say, “damn that dog is still alive”, while she would be laying in her dog bed…moms and i knew India wasnt about to kick the can….new puppy hit the scene and a new energy came over India…lol…

folks were asking, Is that the same ole dog?…lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  5. Bird Says:

One of the Pff analysts put out cool research the other day

It measured 2 things : depth of target compared to release time from qb

Brady was first in depth of target and second in release time at 2.4 seconds
Might have something to do with oline making a jump
    And not taking many sacks
    And throwing downfield

    GOAT

Yeah it’s all good to be Brady right now. He who laughs last laughs best.

While Brady was adding yet another SB ring to his collection…BB nailed yet another losing season to his now 1-6 career winning/losing seasons as HC without Brady.

If BB has winning seasons for the next five years straight he will at last get to .500 as an HC without Brady. He better guard his health he’s not getting any younger.

  7. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Brady has another 2-3 years if we can keep our Offensive line intact. Licht needs to extend center Ryan Jensen like he did with Donovan Smith. Give him a back loaded 2 year extension. With a healthy line, Brady can win us another 2-3 Super Bowls.

  8. geno711 Says:

Love Brady. I give him the most props for our culture change!

The marriage between Arian’s system and Brady’s ability and knowledge worked wonders. Average depth of target highest. That was not an old NE passing style – That was an Arians style. 2nd Fastest release time. That feels all Brady IMO.

    What a great collaboration.

If the Patriots have another losing season or even fail to make the playoffs.

    Belicheck’s legacy will become tarnished.

The Patriots biggest problem isn’t just losing Tom Brady. They have two teams in their division that are becoming good. Granted you still have the Jets to kick around but Buffalo is legit and Miami is close to turning that corner themselves.

  10. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

If the Patriots have another losing season or even fail to make the playoffs, I think Bill Belichik will be shown the door.
But Tom Brady may continue to play until he is 48!
    And, why not ?

  11. Sesteprenelicus Says:

It makes me realize how ridiculous it was to have a quarterback with 30 in a single season.

  12. chris L Says:

also – most of those picks came against the saints and earlier in the season. the end of the year he was on fire.

  13. Youngbucs Says:

Brady has never thrown more than 14 ints in a season 16gms. Over 20 years it’s insane.

  14. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

DA, Evan’s, Godwin, Brown, Gronk, Brate, Miller, Johnson, isn’t even possible to go backward? Throughout Brady’s entire career he has never had a receiving core even close to this talent. The closest he got was probably an aging Randy Moss, Wes Welker & Gronk. Many of the other years with the exception of Edleman were all 2, 3 & 4 receivers.

  15. August 1976 Buc Says:

The tape does not lie, look at these numbers. And for some that talked about Jameis and 5000 yards, well look at Bradys numbers, and BTW he did this at 43 and lead the Bucs to a World Championship.

Brady 5600+yards and 50 TDs in 2020 reg and postseason. No slowing down, but Brady was increasing at 43, with the second best numbers of LEGENDARY CAREER. GO BUCS!!!!!

  16. Wesley Says:

This idiot has done a complete 360. But he’s still a buffoon.

  17. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

NFC pro bowl QB’s Roger’s, Wilson, Murray, seriously????

These should only been one: TB12
