The Streak Stands At 26

February 6th, 2021

Ali Marpet

The underrated Bucs offensive line might finally get its rightful respect tomorrow night, but one guy already has garnered a ton of love.

Left guard Ali Marpet (former right guard/center) is the subject of a Marpet family feature today at NFL.com, and there’s a nugget in there about the Pro Football Focus stat gremlins claiming Marpet hasn’t allowed a sack in 26 consecutive games.

The streak speaks to Marpet’s consistency and, per the story, Tom Brady fully appreciates it. Apparently, Brady was a Marpet fan before the legendary quarterback took a snap for the Bucs.

The last sack unofficially on Marpet was when gerald McCoy schooled him in the Bucs’ ugly loss in England to Carolina last season.

Perhaps getting spanked by an old friend motivated Marpet?

Joe is really pulling for the O-line to have a great Super Bowl. One of the most interesting decisions of the Bucco Bruce Arians era was him arriving in town, studying the line so many fans derided, and concluding that he was good with the group.

I met Ali’s parents leaving the Jags game last year. His dad had a really cool jersey on. Half red and half white. Very cool people too. They raised Ali well. Go Bucs!

  2. Anonymous Says:

Quick question who had a better peak Ali or Davin Joseph ?

  3. Smashsquatch Says:

Pretty sure he’s jinxed now. $100 says he give up a sack tomorrow night. I love how the Joes keep us informed but this info should’ve been censored!

  4. Bucfanforever Says:

PFF- you might want to check out the divisional championship game against the saints 3 weeks ago. Davis and Davenport outplayed Smith and Marpet for a Sack. Probably mostly on Marpet.

Anyway, he’s a great player and the Bucs have a fantastic oline.

  5. Capt.Tim Says:

    It is a great line.
Damn shame Cappa has to miss playing in the SuperBowl.
I wouldnt trade our Tackles, Guards, or Center for very many players.
I hope they have a fantastic game. So tired of listening to the Media kissing the Chiefs butt!!

  6. alton green Says:

need 4 more just like him

  7. Listnfrmafar Says:

In week 12 there is a play where he is called for holding, I am not sure how they could call that when he was blocking two guys at once. It was awesome. This Oline is unreal, it’s no wonder Brady is loving life. Keep line together and he’ll play until he’s 50.

  8. Hopalong Bucco Says:

You men have come a long way. You are tough, resilient, together and ready. Go do your job , do it well on every snap. The Trenchmen of O line and D line will decide this game. Go get ’em guys.

  9. Clean House Says:

Agree w Bucs fan forever- I saw that sack on a stunt- I’m sure the Chiefs did too.

  10. Topdoggie Says:

Unrelated as a bucs fan Brad Johnson is the goat. Brady has a chance to tie him.

  15. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

When my wife saw the Bucs win in Green Bay, she went on line and ordered SB tickets. We will be at the game, have GREAT seats, and I have the BEST wife on the PLANET 😁😍 Hope to see some of you at the game!

  16. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Harry CR,

You do realize you two will probably get into a fight now right?
    😀

At this point I reckon the Joes have written just about everything worth saying. Probably laying back, relaxing, maybe getting their jimmy’s waxed, resting up for the game tomorrow. Hat tip to the Joes, been great coverage of a great year. Now lets finish this sh!t off with a Super Bowl Victory article tomorrow night!

Joe, love the site, love all the work you do. My go to for all Bucs news.
There’s a tragedy that happened in KC on Thursday. It’s just been announced that a little girl might not make it. She’s 5 and her name is Ariel. It’s heartbreaking, and I wonder if we Bucs fans can get involved and donate to the family. There’s a go fund me set up for the family. I’ve respected how the Bills fans have donated even to their rivals. Maybe we can do the same.
    Life is bigger than football.
Again big fan and love your site.

I kinda miss the trolls, the wacky sh!t they used to spew was entertaining. If they had any balls or integrity, they’d come back on and admit the errors of their flawed a$$ thinking. But I guess they wouldn’t be trolls then.

  20. richardtyson Says:

I’m surprised there hasn’t been any talk around here about Andy Reid’s son getting into a car accident and having alcohol on his breath. I guess the 5 year old girl has brain damage and is fighting for her life.

  21. Reddington Neck Shores Says:

I recommend watching the full version of the Bucs raiders Super Bowl before the game tomorrow. It’s sd but has full prime madden and is a great watch. Pumps you up! The Bucs D was so nasty but our current has been nasty recently too. Brady and the O the best we ever had and it’s not even close. Obviously Atrain but don’t forget kenyatta. Ugh the worst pro gator 1st round yes more than VH3

Go Bucs I smell a win!!!

  22. David Says:

Marpet is great but I don’t buy that stat. It looked like he gave up a sack against New Orleans. I know sometimes the lineman are going one way or the other and it’s not their guy but it’s a hard stat to be extremely accurate about.

Regardless, him, Jensen, Stinnue, Wirfs, Smith and the TEs… They have been dominant. They are going to own KC … and so is the D-line!
    Bucs 38
    KC 27

  23. SOEbuc Says:

Oline is lock down. Just one more thing Bucs fans haven’t been able to say in a long time. God I hope we win.

  24. tbbucs3 Says:

    Calm before the storm…..

  25. Capt.Tim Says:

Amazing how many “fans” are jumping at the chance, to discredit a great stat attributed to our SuperBowl Left Guard.
Have we really become so angry as a society- that we dont want anything good attributed to anyone else? Even a guy we are all cheering for today?

Even if you are sharper than the league stats guy, 1 sack in 26 games should have got the guy Probowl recognition.
    That should be our gripe

So many awards last night, for coaches and players, who are sitting on the coach eating wings today.
Odd the the NFC CHAMPION BUCCANEERS dindnt win anything, for our active team and staff..
We should be raising Hell about that!!!
Rodgers is MVP, for QBing a team hes been with for 15 years!!!
That aint nearly as impressive as what Brady pulled off!!!!

  26. gotbbucs Says:

I like Marpet and thought he was great at right guard. I think he’s a solid left guard, but he hasn’t looked as good to me in the second half of this season. Something just doesn’t seem right with him when I watch him in pass pro.
Run blocking he’s fine, and maybe he hasn’t given up a sack in a while, but I really think that might have quite a bit to do with Brady because I watch guys beat Marpet quite a bit in pass rush, they just don’t quite make it to Brady in time for the sack.
I admit that I’m being picky, but I’ll call it like I see it.
