Peace Out Motherf…

February 8th, 2021

Payback was sweet for Antoine Winfield.

Bucs safety Antoine Winfield may not have realized it at the time, but he ended his rookie year by likely starting a fad that will last in the Tampa Bay region for years to come.

Talk about leaving your mark.

It happened late in the game when Winfield was slapped with a taunting penalty that Bucs fans will remember for years in a good way.

In Super Bowl LV, Winfield had six tackles and a pick of Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes, but it was a break up of a Mahomes pass on fourth down and Winfield’s reaction that got people’s attention.

After he broke up the pass against Cheetah Hill, Winfield got up in Cheetah’s face and flashed a peace sign damn near in Cheetah’s grill. Though Winfield was slapped with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, Winfield knew the game was wrapped up with 4:06 remaining and the Bucs leading 31-9 and taking over possession.

That penalty was a long-time coming for Winfield, who was getting payback on Cheetah for the stunt he pulled on the Bucs back in November.

“It was just something I had to do,” Winfield said of throwing up the peace sign. “When we played them earlier [this season], Hill went off on us. He backflipped in front of my face and gave me the peace sign so it was only right that I gave the peace sign back to him at this moment. It felt amazing to be able to do that.”

You damn right!

Winfield basically sealed a Super Bowl win with his breakup. So why not throw Hill’s sh!t back in his face after beating him in a Super Bowl?

Joe thought that was just awesome. A rookie safety basically telling the most dangerous man in the NFL, “Peace out motherf… ” as his team begins to celebrate a world championship.

Joe has a hunch for a long time now, rather than a Bucs fan flipping off someone with the one-finger salute, they will go full-blown Winfield and flash a peace sign.

Loved it. The Defence had a different energy and swag in the last 3 games NO,GB,KC. You could see it. Lets Go Bucs SB Champions baby.

  3. adam from ny Says:

    also on another note…

as i’m watching the 4th quarter i started thinking:

“if there’s a 5th quarter, we’re gonna knock mahomes out of the game”

    hypothetically speaking…

because he was taking quite a beating as the game wore on…

he wouldn’t have lasted, say another 15 minutes

  4. Jeagan1999 Says:

What an incredible year, and what an amazing performance by this Bucs defense! Patrick Mahomes looked like he was running for his life all night long! Game balls all around to Devin White, JPP, Shaq, LVD, Suh, Winfield, big Vita, and the entire plundering, pillaging, sacking Defense!!!! What an amazing performance.

It’s unbelievable what Tom Brady has done, not just for our offense, but for the entire team! He had this entire team playing and believing like they were champions! AND NOW THEY ARE!

  5. Darin Says:

That’s how you draw it up Bowles!! Great job! In my mind he won the MVP last night!

  6. FortMyersDave Says:

Damn, I still can not believe what I saw last night. Total domination. Looking forward to see how the pundits spin it today. So many players contributed to this championship season. I have not been this amped up since Super Bowl XXXVII in San Diego. Fire the Cannons! Love Winfield giving Hill the peace sign. Yeah Joe we will be seeing that lot in the Bay area for years to come. Go Bucs!!!!

  7. I CARE NOW Says:

Best picture and penalty of ALL TIME!!!!

  8. I CARE NOW Says:

On a side note. Brady just pulled into OBP and is preparing for the repeat. It was said he is game planning for the Dolphins preseason opener.

    Peace MotherFer

  13. mg Says:

Gotta love that intense defense. Thanks fo a great run, Joe.

  14. lambchop Says:

Loved Winfield taunting Mr. Help is on the way (which is so unoriginal thanks to Shannon Sharpe being the OG). I loved it even more when he came to the sideline and players and coaches were slapping him 5 for doing it.

LOL. Nothing else matters except what you do on the biggest stage. We got revenge on the Saints and the Chiefs. This season was glorious.

Thank you Tampa Bay Bucs. Thank you Tampa Bay Lightning. Thank you Tampa Bay Rays. You guys put some respect on our city! So proud to say I’m a Tampa Bay Sports fan.

  15. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

    Double Deuces boi!!!✌🤬✌

  16. mg Says:

Your owner and GM just ended the patriot dynasty.

  17. Buxszntkt Says:

Hey Joe isn’t Diana Russini the Biotch whose video you posted about the Bucs not being able to go the distance early in the year ?
They have her covering the Britt Reid incident rather than any game related issue.

  18. LVMYBUCS Says:

AHHHHH YES YES PEACE OUT MFers!!!!!!!

  19. Jbeachbuc Says:

LVD got robbed of a pick! Watch the replay…. 3+ minutes left.

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Brady invigorated our fans…..and brought hundreds of thousands of new ones to the Bucs……next year, we might repeat….might not…but one thing I know for sure….we’ll still be relevant!!!

  21. Listnfrmafar Says:

One of the best team performances ever. Not one player didn’t give it their all. Everyone played so well hard to pick one MVP. That offense sure looked a lot like a Patriots O. Def nasty MOFO’S. Congrats Bucs nation from all of us in New England, May the GOAT be with you. I’ll bet you’re feeling Gronk love too.

  22. NaplesBucsFan Says:

Jbeachbuc totally agree with ya, BA wanted to be nice, but that’s bullspit!!! D was busting its a$$, should have challenged that and give his D the props they deserved!!
Peace out was COMPLETELY DESERVED…Hill wanted to mouth off and “call for help” last game! I absolutely support Winfield throwing it in his face!!!!!
    We the champs y’all!!!!
    Bucs, Bucs, Bucs !!!!!!

  23. Buxszntkt Says:

    It’s 7am ! Kay Adam’s go time !

  24. SteveK Says:

Run it back time! Let’s go Bucs!

We get to pick last in the draft bc we are the best. And I hope we get to trade back for more ammo and get us some players to help Tom make another run.

Let’s help Brady get another one year. He can do it.

I’m in shock still about winning the SB. We. Really. Did. It. Wow.

After 13 years of no playoffs and 1st round picks Freeman and Jameis not pan out, I appreciate this. 5k yards passing means nothing when you turn the ball over like Jameis did.

Super Bowls mean everything. Look at Brady’s 4600 yards passing and “how” he got there. It was through a 40TD-12INT, 11-5 record. Impressive-winning football.

There is no argument. And I thought we’d make the playoffs and go on a run w Brady, but I never expected a SB. Some of the pro-Jameis fans had their undies in a bunch and claimed- “SB or bust!” Well, there you go! Woooo!!!

  25. Cobraboy Says:

An act of karma. CB approves…

  26. Bird Says:

I Love winfield. That was a total boss move

Him and devin white. I cant decide which jersey to get next.

  27. Bob in Valrico Says:

I don’t know about eating W’s but serve up Steve Smith a big plate of crow.
Speaking of crow, as someone who has complained about Jason Licht in the past,
he has quietly become a ” Most Valuable GM ” with his drafts and free agency
    signings.

  28. ModHairKen Says:

One of the greatest moments in Buccaneers history. The best UC and most satisfying 15 yards ever.

Don’t ever give Tyreek Hill a cute nicknames or show him respect as some superhuman. He got played. He thought his earlier performance this season was all him. He thought he’d do it again.

Empire down. KCs dynasty was a short one.

  29. TampaTown Says:

I only hope he added “help IS NOT on the way fu¢ker”

  30. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Funny, when Tyreek Hill taunted us last time, he got no penalty.
It was worth it for us, and as they say “Payback is a biotch” !

  31. John Says:

The secondary has some SERIOUS swag, focus on building that front now with young studs.

  32. Show Me the TDs Says:

Gonna be a lot of hippies getting their butts whooped if this becomes a thing. Lol

  33. 123urout Says:

here comes the excuses from the chiefs….. bad officiating, backup OL’s, Mahommes injured toe, Reid’s son in an accident…. balh blah blah… peaceout motherf……. LOL!!!

  34. Coburn Says:

We seemed to be in their heads all game. I loved seeing that… From Jensen starting sole syuff then pointing lol then Brady getting honey badger pissed off lol

  35. SKBucsfan Says:

I absolutely loved it when Winfield gave it to Hill. I just wish the defense could have scored then called 911 frim the endzone to get the Chefs some help.

Beating an arrogant so-and-so is the thing I will remember most.

  36. SKBucsfan Says:

Maybe Winfield was reminding the game changer that he only caught 2 passes all game. Lol. Love it!
Next goal 16-0 and a repeat!

  37. Ed Says:

How history repeats itself. When the Bucs were in their last Superbowl predictions were that it was a “given” the Raiders offense was going to win the game with Rich Gannon throwing to Jerry Rice and company. Simeon Rice and Sapp and Brooks had something to say about that.

Last night all we heard from the CBS crew (except Bill Cowher) was how were the Bucs gonna stop Hill, Kelce and Maholmes. This time Shaq Barrett, JPP and Suh had something to say about that.

The Bucs in their 2 SuperBowl wins were clearly the better team but going into those games they got very little respect. Well now is the time for respect! They earned it the hard way.

  38. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

I take back almost everything I ever said about Licht Brain , except drafting kickers. What an amazing job our GM did in getting the GOAT to come here. Kudos to Jason Licht , BA ,Bowles, and the Glazers.
This Superbowl was more satisfying to me than the previous due to getting revenge on a team we lost to in the regular season. No reason the Bucs should not be the odds on favorite to repeat providing the GOAT stays healthy.
Winning 2 titles and playing for a third in one year is awe inspiring. Maybe we should change the name of our city to CHAMPA BAY. I wish everyone a great hangover Monday and now may we all do the right thing and stamp out the sickness.

  39. LargoBuc Says:

Poetic justice. This Bucs team showed the world this post season, that if you want to pull their card, mf’er you picked the right one!
And Christos you’re right. Our defense was on a freaking mission this post season! It’s almost like the game at Washington, getting torched by that kid, what’s his name, Hiney or something like that? Yeah it seems that game may have been the wake up call the defense has needed for way too long!

  40. Couch Fan Says:

Enjoy it Buc Fans. US die hards have suffered through a whole lot of losing. We’ve earned this every bit as much as the Bucs have. This ring feels so much better than the 1st to me. GO BUCS!!!

  41. 813bucboi Says:

    I loved it

    GO BUCS

  42. Doctor Stroud Says:

What about Honey Badger trash-talking Brady? The Bucs went right at him.

  43. 1sparkybuc Says:

It is NOT the “peace sign”. The origin of the sign was from a tumblebug that had rolled a rabbit turd a considerable distance up a hill, and it got away from him. He made the sign, and it simply means “stop that sh!t”. Proof of that is the typical use of the sign above the head of someone with a very casual relationship with the truth.

  44. David Says:

I hate taunting but… Tyreek Hill back flipped into the end zone and gave Winfield the peace sign on November 29. So take that.
    It can go both ways.

If they’re going to allow offensive players to do stuff like that, then they need to take the taunting rule out

  45. David Says:

Honey badger poking the bear all night was idiotic

  46. The Daily Coroner Says:

It will be like the “Hunger Games” and the Mocking Bird sign. Yeah.

  47. Alaskabuc Says:

Absolutely loved it. Confidence is high with the youngsters and the future is bright.

  48. Tye Says:

I also saw it as a finger to all ‘Bucs fans’ that screaming SB or Bust because their ‘QB’ was sent packing….. HE WAS APART OF THE PROBLEM!

  49. DerrickBrooksGOATLB Says:

The best part about that was he waited until the penalty he got was meaningless in the game. KC’s penalties early helped the Bucs jump out to an early lead and change the whole complexion of the game. Winfield waited until it didn’t make a difference if he got a taunting because it was Bucs ball 1st and 10 regardless and field position at the time meant nothing. Just perfect.

  50. firethecannons Says:

Winfield is a beloved member of our Bucs team, a highly esteemed member of our secondary, thanks to his play and Edwards play and Jordan Whitehead’s plays we no longer worry over secondary being a weakness. Amazing!
    Secondary was dynamic last night!

  51. Ontario Mike Says:

Awesome …my wife who never watches football even said….how come Brady gets the ball away so fast…they can’t get at him. Unlike mahomes who spent the nite running for his life!! Sure slept happy last nite. Go for 2 !!!

  52. destinjohnny Says:

    LOVE THIS KID!!!!

  53. Wesley Says:

    Best moment of the night!

  54. Miller5252 Says:

Best moment of the night and they should build this statue in front of one Buc!

  55. webster Says:

    Best moment of the night!!!

  56. BucsBeBack (Artist formally known as: BringBucsBack) Says:

This picture needs to be placed on the side of RayJ, “posterized”, placed on t-shirts & made into a statue, as Miller said.

I’d like to see Hills’ face from an inverse shot.

  57. View from 132 Says:

I agree. Statue outside the stadium. The Antoine Winfield Jr. Sarcastic Revenge Peace Memorial at the entrance to the National Sportsmanship Museum.

  58. JayWill Says:

The film of this game will show why Tyreek Hill is a hall of famer when he retires.

  59. Rob in Land O Lakes Says:

I’m glad they remembered the back flip and got a chance to rub his face in it.
