JPP And Von Miller: Path To A Ring?

February 7th, 2021

Table is set.

Joe was listening to a podcast this morning and upon hearing this little piece of information, the sun suddenly burst through the Sunday morning clouds.

Regular readers know Joe is a big, big, big history guy and owns a degree in American history (albeit a minor). History is a window into the future. Woe be it to those who don’t learn from history as history will bite you square in the arse.

Why does Joe bring up history? Because history tells us Bucs outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul should have a big night. And if he doesn’t, ruh-roh.

The Chiefs” offensive line is beat to hell. They are expected to start three offensive linemen out of position in Super Bowl LV. One is backup Mike Remmers, who is being moved from right tackle to left tackle.

Remmers does have a Super Bowl history. And it ain’t pretty.

Once on the Bucs practice squad during the Commander Schiano era, Remmers started in Super Bowl 50 (the NFL did not designate that Super Bowl with a Roman numeral) at right tackle for the Stinking Panthers.

In that game, Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller ate Remmers alive. Miller had 2 1/2 sacks and won the game’s MVP. Joe will note that Miller trained Shaq Barrett in his mold during their Denver days together.

Sal Paolantonio of BSPN talked about this with Tampa Bay sports czar J.P. Peterson, heard weekdays on WWBA-AM 820, where SalPal had another interesting nugget.

SalPal has covered Tom Brady in seven of his past Super Bowls. There, SalPal has gotten to know some of Brady’s inner circle. He noted how Brady is always a hound for attention to detail, but during Super Bowl Week, Brady ramps up his focus to crazy levels that rub off in a good way on his teammates.

“He will turn on the juice in practice and get super competitive, very demanding in practice,” SalPal said. “Very focused on details and pushing his players and holding them accountable, his teammates accountable.”

In the immediate hours before the Super Bowl, per SalPal, Brady will turn to Mexican spirituality to mentally prepare.

In 44 postseason games, Brady is 33-11. When his teams win the turnover battle, Brady is undefeated, 18-0. (Yes, Joe knows the Bucs lost the turnover battle in the NFC Championship game at Green Bay. SalPal’s stat is specifically when Brady’s teams win the turnover battle.)

Also in the same segment, former Bucs defensive back Rondé Barber joined in and mentioned to SalPal, a proud Philadelphian, that he played the “Shut Down the Vet” game with a bum right knee. SalPal said to this day if former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb walks the streets of Philadelphia, he is heckled about Barber’s pick-six in that game, which sent the Bucs to their first Super Bowl.

Tonight, the Bucs play in their second Super Bowl.

  2. #1bucsfan Says:

Let’s go. I honestly think if jpp, Shaq and vea can wreck mahomie we will this game hands down

  3. Aceofaerospace Says:

    Some, not so.

  4. Bucsfan951 Says:

Pressure, contain, bring down mahomes. They cannot let him escape the pocket or it’s all over. I expect kc to come out with quick throws and trickery. Plays that will keep the Bucs on their toes to try and slow down the pass rush.

    Should be a good game.

  5. MadMax Says:

I hate to say this, and dont wish anything bad on the kid, but I think Mahome’s just might be taken out of the game….he’s going to be eaten alive.

As long as we win by 1 point….thats all I care about!

  6. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Brady will turn to Mexican spirituality ?
    Was that a misprint ?
Mexicans are descendants of the Aztec’s, who sacrificed people to their Gods by killing them.
In modern times, their drug cartel actually has a patron saint of Drug Dealers.

  7. bojim Says:

I thought Mexican spirituality was Tequila?

  8. I CARE NOW Says:

    @Chris,
You hit the nail on the head. As crazy as it may seem, it is likely truer than you or I are willing to admit. Power don’t come cheap and it always collects in the end.

TB12 has lived and walked a fine line in these regards. I pray his voodoo pays off a few more times for the Bucs, than I pray for the mans soul. LOL.

Chris @Roof cleaning plz for the sake of other peoples cultures you don’t actually know anything about just STFU BRO. The fact that all you associate Mexican spirituality with is the patron saint of drug dealers and Aztecs shows you really skipped some Humanities courses in college or IDK maybe you never even graduated, but honestly my guy just do a little research before you make statements about stuff you don’t know anything about except for what you saw in a movie. How many Mexicans are you friends with? How many times have you been there besides Cancun or Cabo? 🤡

Feel free to click on the link and listen to SalPal for yourself. SalPal even cited the name of the Svengali.

@bojim, that Tequila comment made me LOL.

    @Anonymous,
Thanks for reminding me why I dropped out of school in the 9th grade and pursued an independent education as well as learned how to think and research for myself. Not sure about Chris but you where right about me. And I Thank God for sparing me all that debt for a dumbed down and misleading education.

Welcome to the New Normal, COLLEGE is so yesterday.

I apologize Joe, I had to stick up for all the well educated dropouts out here. I get offended when people talk about history they don’t understand. And there is a GREAT History of Dropouts.

    I am done.

  15. OBF Says:

    Front 7 REEK HAVOC !
Back 4 stay cool and play your responsibility each play, always have trickery in your mind, the Chiefs will have a few up their sleeves!
    I am getting excited!

  16. Infomeplease Says:

Everyone knows JPP has and is playing with a bad knee. That hasn’t stopped him from showing up at game time. He brings an energy force with him that permeates to the other linemen! With VV back collapsing the pocket from the middle and the KC line playing out of position, JPP, SB, and Suh will makes some big plays!! GO BUCS!!

  18. MadMax Says:

Btw, i want to give a huge shout out to William Gholston WG92….watch, he’ll be big in this game too.

  19. Capt.Tim Says:

Vea is a unique talent, and Suh is a warrior.
They will collapse the center of the pocket, flushing Mahomes
    Out to JPP and Shaq!
White and David have to keep Mahomes from leaking upfield.

If the Bucs can shut down the run game, and pressure Mahomes, we will win

    Go Bucs!!

I really don’t care what Brady turns to before the game as long as it works!!!

I wonder if the trolls are watching…..hoping for a loss…..then they can say….”yes, but we couldn’t win when it counts”….

Regardless, trolls….we got there….& if we don’t win….we just may have another opportunity next year….
