It Can’t Be This Bad (Again)

February 2nd, 2021

Todd Bowles

Let’s just call it like we see it here. When the Bucs last played the Chiefs in November, they got Michael Spinks’ed in the first quarter by Pat Mahomes and Cheetah Hill.

And while the Bucs defense did a nice job on the Chiefs in the final three quarters, the damage was done.

How bad was that game for the defense? The PFF tribe came up with ugly details.

The way Joe looks at it, there is no way the Bucs defense will get “sucker punched” again Sunday night. They have to know what is coming.

And Joe really likes the fact the Chiefs may be down both their starting offense tackles while Vita Vea appears good to go full-time.

It appears the Bucs O has to throw a few shots of their own.

The Chiefs ARE down both starting tackles.
They will attempt to nickel and dime with gadget Hill in motion this time around I think.
We saw what happened when NO tried that.

Really hoping Winfield can go but not at full speed will hurt once they realize they can’t win with chump change football.

I think Mahomes might actually get hurt in this game he gets sacked so hard by White.
    Watch for it

My biggest concern is Reid having 2 weeks to plan a couple trick play and the Bucs falling behind by 2 TD off of some razzle dazzle bs. The already tried the Philly special during our regular season matchup.

I think our defense might fare better, but j feel like theirs could as well. Both defenses have looked pretty good in the playoffs and both seem to be getting hot at the right time. Will be a very interesting game

Joe, I wouldn’t get too hung up on the shape of KC’s o-line. Things never seem to work out the way they might look on paper. I remember all week prior to the WFT playoff game. Everyone was saying how we should be able to run the ball against their d-line. They pretty much shut down the Bucs run game. Same goes for when an opponent is supposed to start a backup or rookie QB. They always seem to do well against the Bucs. Seems like our team plays best when it faces the best the opponent has to offer.

exactly…..one battle that we know is lost, is the battle of the coaches….
we never won a single game cause of them..
Players should come big and strong, and as a team fighting 60 min….thats it

PSL Bob, Bucs ran for 142yds vs Washington, Fournette had 93yds and a TD. Perhaps you meant Packers game?

Bucs will be in the game no doubt at the end. It’s gonna take their best effort to win and a little luck but they will give themselves a chance in the end that’s all we can hope for!

    Nah Joe, more like Hagler-Hearns.

If we can get to mahomes and rattle him, the game is ours. Mahomes though he’s a magician. Definitely can’t let Mahomes dink and dunk to hill and hill pick up yardage.
