“Get Another Piece In Here”

February 10th, 2021

Tom Brady’s quarterback coach was taking fans inside The Tom Brady Effect after the Super Bowl.

Fun-loving Clyde Christensen was explaining that what Brady did with late-addition pieces to the offense, Antonio Brown and Leonard Fournette, was flat out masterful.

For Christensen, it was part of what separates Brady from the pack.

“The average quarterback, ‘Hey, don’t change anything right now.’ Brady is, ‘Hey, get another piece in here. Get another piece in here. I’ll find a way that we’ll get some production out of this guy,'” Christensen explained on The Pat McAfee Show.

“They live at his house. They eat at his house,” Christensen continued, noting Brady is always hungry to squeeze more out of the offense.

He also said that Antonio Brown running the wrong route on his Super Bowl touchdown was classic Brady — a guy who won’t get rattled.

And Christensen also told a fun story about Brady in the last Bucs quarterbacks meeting before the Super Bowl.

“We walk in and Brady was talking about, ‘Hey, I got an idea. There’s a half-yard over/under for me rushing for a half a yard in the Super Bowl,'” Christensen shard. “‘Here’s what I’m saying, we all put in $1 million and the first time their in 2-3 techniques, I’m going to gain six. And then we’re going to sit on that thing and protect it the rest of the way, and we’re going to fund our offseason.”

“I promise you, if we have $1 million on it I will not get sacked.”

Now Christensen made it clear Brady, while talking seriously, was just joking and nobody was placing bets. For the record, Brady, finished with negative yards rushing.

Joe wonders how long it will take Brady to call Jason Licht for an update on free agency. “Get another piece in here, Jason!”

  1. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Who else just saw Brady throw the Lombardi šŸ†?! HAHAHAHAHA!!! THIS IS AWESOME

  2. TampaTown Says:

Cheeks: Didnā€™t see that but someone threw a Bud Light at SMB and hit him in the head. Are you here at the parade? I thought Joe would do an open thread just for the parade.

  3. Robert Says:

@tampa town……pretty sure that was JW

  4. Capt.Tim Says:

    Robert- lmao!!!!

  5. Capt.Tim Says:

Well, SM-B is a DB! JW is pretty good at hitting those!

  6. Buc1987 Says:

    Robert…LOL that was funny!

  7. LVMYBUCS Says:

Guys the gods looked out for us remember a few months ago we had a hella problems in the kicking game? BAM that’s gone. Remember we had a retard for a QB? BAM that is gone. How fast things can change is still so amazing to me. I was so scared our secondary was gonna be victimize. I am looking forward to the off season to see who want to come play with the GOAT.

  8. OBF Says:

We do need an EXPLOSIVE offensive player

  9. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Clyde should have never said that. Theyā€™ll be all kinds of idiots on twitter saying Brady is a cheater, was betting on his own game, needs to be suspended, etc.

  10. Dewey Selmon Says:

Cringe moment. James Palmer just told the listening audience that Devon White wouldn’t be able to ride Daisy Mae due to the parade being on the water. She died last year.

  11. SC Bucs Fan Says:

Just out of curiosity, has JW said anything about the Bucs win? I saw the love from McCoy, which I thought was classy.

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

How well did Brady do in Math?…….another piece…..we would shock the world to keep Gronk, AB, Fournette, Godwin without gutting the defense.

  13. Cainishere Says:

The Police always have to be in everybody’s business. You would think that they have other things more important to do but no, they have to be right up everyone’s ass ruining any chance of a good time.

  14. Bird Says:

    Robert

    Im dying man. šŸ˜‚

    ā€”-

They just said on nfl network , bucs have 7 most cap space. Not to shabby

  15. Beeej Says:

We can use the tag on Godwin, the rest gets more difficult. As for Gronk, we don’t know when/IF OJ Howard comes back, achilles isn’t a minor thing, haven’t heard a peep about him in months

  16. SC Bucs Fan Says:

Beeej thing that blows about Howard is he has minimal trade value for a possibly significant talent

  17. Swampbuc Says:

It starts with ā€œKeep the pieces we have, Jason.ā€œ

  18. Casual Observer Says:

Swanpbuc. Exactly. At least most of them.

  19. Mitch Says:

It was sunny outside Gronk was dancing shirtless, Tom was throwing the Lombardi, Scotty Miller lost Chris Godwinā€™s phone, Shaq said he was coming back to run it back, Licht said we are going to f***ing win it again on television, Bruce Arians said we are going for two and took the mic out of Lavonteā€™s hand to tell him that his a** ainā€™t going anywhere. I also think we learned that Tom doesnā€™t really have sea legs. Looked like a blast!

  20. Beeej Says:

Heardc that SC. Odd how a young man like him has that happen to him, achilles is usually a geezer affair

  21. Cainishere Says:

Was cool seeing Gronk wearing Buccaneers beads on the Boat with Mike Evans Woot!!!

  22. Aceofaerospace Says:

Be serious guys, if JW threw that bud light, someone would have picked it off.

  23. 6throundpick Says:

Nothing wrong with changing some players. You’ve got to have a great core, with the ability to adapt; beat different teams. Otherwise, the opposition strategy will shut you down. Can’t waste these opportunities.

  24. Anonymous Says:

Brady smashed on tequila. I identify with the man

  25. Rod Munch Says:

I actually did a prop bet on Brady getting over 1 1/2 yard, and when the Bucs had it at the goaline, I figured I’d was going to get paid. But nope. Anywho, it would have been for not, since when he was taking a knee he would have lost that yardage.

  26. DoooshLaRue Says:

If I had a Bud Light Iā€™d do the same one thing, throw it…..except Iā€™d be aiming for a trash can!

  27. David Says:

    Robert and Capt Tim-
    Very nice šŸ˜‚

Shaq- He has been saying he does not plan on going anywhere and that he loves it here and appreciates the chance he was given
LVD- I canā€™t imagine they would let him go, it seems they should be able to afford a four year deal which would take him till 32.
Godwin- heā€™s 25, they should lock him up on a 6 year deal. That would enable them to spread out the cap hits.
Suh- he is older yet valuable. I have no idea with him but I donā€™t understand why he wouldnā€™t want to make another run at it with a damn good team that should only get better.
Gronk- he has said heā€™s coming back. He just sent for the ring, heā€™s not going to cost much.
AB- I assumed the season was an audition for his game and character and that he is going to takeoff for a payday but he said he wants to stay.
Fournette- I assume heā€™s taking off for payday and the Bucs will go with Rojo and Vaughn. That should be fine because they have an entire off-season with Brady to learn to block and run routes.
Then there are a few back ups, like Minter, that should be easy enough to sign.

If ever there was a year to lengthen a few contracts in order to push money down the road, this is the year to do it.
The salary cap is going to skyrocket in two years after following a little flat next year because of Covid.

    Going for 2!

  28. Buxszntkt Says:

Nice to see TB tipsy getting off the boat and hearing about the joke regarding the over under. Belicheat has the entire team act like droids, emotionless, no personality. Couldnā€™t stand watching TB on the podium.
This year weā€™re seeing a real human being, at the podium and around town , drinking or joking with close friends.
Still, probably better if they didnā€™t share that.
