This Is Why The Bucs Got Tom Brady

January 9th, 2021

Calm amid storm.

It wasn’t pretty but damn it, a win is a win; a playoff win is a playoff win. This ain’t gymnastics. There’s a scoreboard.

The Bucs did not play well, despite racking up 31 points on offense. Chris Godwin had drops. A lot. Ke’shawn Vaughn had an ugly fumble. The defense was inexcusably bad.

Despite this, there was Mr. Six Rings, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

Brady was the cool number. The guy who didn’t get rattled. While everything around him screamed “upset,” Brady guided the Bucs to two second-half scores when the team needed them most.

No, the Bucs would not have played Saturday night without Brady. And the Bucs sure as hell wouldn’t have won without Brady.

    Preach Joe, preach!! #truth

  2. Bucfanforever Says:

Good news is, they get Devin White back next week and it won’t be cold.

  3. Nate Dawg Says:

I agree …. a win is a win! We were missing White’s speed to chase down Heineke who seemed to escape the sack a number of times and make me spill my beer! Have been looking forward to this for 13 years and no matter how ugly it was at times, the best seven days will be heaven!

  4. geno711 Says:

Game Balls to Brady and Donovan Smith.

  5. unbelievable Says:

Agreed. It was ugly as hell but a win is a win.

Godwin and the defense better tighten up a lot or they will get killed next week.

  6. Soggy Says:

Found a way to win THANK YOU BUCS!!!!!!

  7. ModHairKen Says:

No one can tell the Tom Brady story without mentioning the Buccaneers. Genius by the Glazers.

  8. Miller5252 Says:

Brady and the offense was awesome tonight. Yeah the fumble and drops sucked, but when they needed points they went down the field and scored. No team is going to want to play this offense after showing what they could do against the foreskins. Great offensive show! Go Bucs!

  9. Snook Says:

So tired of Todd Bowles defense. He can’t adjust mid-game. So easy to see why he failed as a head coach.

  10. Mitch Says:

I am very happy with the offense even with the Godwins uncharacteristic night. I hope Cappa is ok and can go next week. The Bucs missed Devin White and his speed tonight. There were multiple times I saw blitzers get through the line but they didn’t have the same closing speed as Devin. I think his return next week will be a big shot in the arm for the defense.

  11. Marine Buc Says:

Congrats to all the Buc fans who have suffered through many horrible seasons.

We finally won a playoff game.

  12. ElioT Says:

    Bring it on Saints!!!

    Let’s go MF’ers!

    LET’S GO!!!!!!

  13. Chris Boyd Says:

good call geno.. joe.. show some love for donovan smith… he played great!!!!

  14. The Daily Coroner Says:

Yep. It was a Vince Lombardi moment. Next game we have Devin White back. Heinecke got away from Minter when he wouldn’t from White. Capps getting injured led to some sacks. Need him back. Don’t know- maybe Godwin’s finger was bothering him.

  15. TheShaz Says:

    Joe is right.

Everything about that game screamed UPSET

The Bucs defense was pathetic, whatever zone scheme they used was easily deciphered by a 3rd string QB.

The Bucs offense struggled in the red zone, but I can forgive them a bit because the Redskins defense is legit.

This is 1 playoff win…..to get 2 things need to get tightened up

  16. Brady is a cheater Says:

Bad news for Brady , he gets to lose to the Saints again! Oh when the Saints keep marching on

  17. Leighroy Says:

What is the status of Cappa’s ankle? Bc my boy Ted Larsen looked worse than our secondary

  18. rrsrq Says:

Think BA said that Cappa has a fracture

  19. ElioT Says:

    @Marine Buc

    Darn straight brother!

+and of you serve/served our country; Thank you!!!

  20. Ryan Says:

But Steve Smith said Bucs would go one-and-done!

  21. David Says:

    Go Bears!

Also, tried flipping on the NFL network. They’re having Steve Smith break things down… He is absolutely horrible. Cant listen to him.

    Go BUCS!

  22. Dewey Selmon Says:

Is 381 passing yards a franchise record? or 507 total offense?

  23. IrishMist Says:

I never want to hear that Brate is overpaid again.

  24. gotbbucs Says:

Need to figure out something else at right guard. Ted Larson got abused.

  25. Brady is a cheater Says:

Miller are you blind? Or have a third chromosome. Brady wont get away with this crap against the Saints.

  26. David Says:

People need to look at the replays.
Larsen did not give up two sacks. Both times Jensen let his man go to his right and turned and to help double-team with Marpet. Maybe that was the design but I sure as hell don’t get it. Those two sacks are on Jensen to me

  27. David Says:

I want to know what is up with ROJO!

  28. NaplesBucsFan Says:

Oline showed up big… thanks not sacks came after Cappa left. Defense scares me against a competent offense.
We all need to be Bears fans tomorrow…time for a miracle defensive performance by Mack and a huge game from Trubusky and Montgomery!! Go Bears so the Bucs get a home game!!!!

  29. ModHairKen Says:

Larsen will be better next week.

    Donovan Smith played very well.

Vaughn and Godwin will play flawlessly next week.

Anyone complaining about anything in this game, go buy a Seahawks or Colts jersey.

  30. NaplesBucsFan Says:

Oh and Brady just had a great overall game (missed some throws again) against a top tier defense!!! 3 TDs and no ints!!

  31. The_jake Says:

ATL should resend their interview request for Todd Bowls. And praise be to Sir Tom Brady

  32. David Says:

    Joe…
    Can you just kick
    Brady is a cheater
off of this site? He’s not a buccaneer fan. He’s a troll

  33. LVMYBUCS Says:

Secondary sucks big time!!!!!!!!!!!! Accept for Winfield 🙂

  34. NaplesBucsFan Says:

    Correction 2 TDs

  35. RioDeJaneiroBucsFan Says:

Chase Young asked for Tom Brady… Big mistake… #12 is awesome. And kudos to Mike Evans, the guy is a warrior and a freak of nature, HOF material!!!
Fournette was very good too. Overall, the Offense delivered.
I hope that Devin White can really make the difference next week. The Defense was subpar, at best. This soft coverage must stop, it almost drove me crazy.
But a win is always sweet, so let’s enjoy this moment
    Go Bucs!!!!!

  36. 0-26 survivor Says:

Wow , defence is horrible no pressure on qb Rogers would have had 700 yards tonite, fournette solid , Evans from Brady was the ballgame , 2 missed pats real concerning , gay looking good in la, go bears, 1st playoff win since Superbowl thanks tom.
    .

  37. Robert Says:

Told y’all it would be a dogfight. Also said 31-17….not far off. That said……..this wasn’t about TB. It was a team win in a dogfight and the best outcome possible.

  38. Logan Says:

Hey Donovan Smith you get the game ball man. You showed up and showed out. Wirfs did what he always did and was a wall. OLine great job.

  39. Robert Says:

Props to ME too. He was money.

  40. Anonymous Says:

Tough game! Skins have a good defence! We have a weak secondary, they playway off there man . Need to tighten that up! Main weakness on d. Goat got it done ! Always liked camren brate good hands! Getsxopen.

  41. David Says:

Everyone needs to realize the playoffs are tough. You win how you win and Move on.
That was the best defense, along with the Rams, in the playoffs. And they handled the Rams upfront last time as well.
    Go Bears!

The D desperately needs Devon White back and it took a long time for JPP to show up, other than against the run.
Him and Shaq need to be shot out of a cannon next week because no matter who they’re playing, it’s not going to be a mobile quarterback

    GO BUCS!!!

  42. SlyPirate Says:

    Props to the oline, too.

  43. Pepsi Says:

Doesn’t Brady deserve better prefaces joe? It’s time.

  44. David Says:

I know everyone keeps saying how bad the defense did, and they definitely need to play better, but Washington’s O line is one of the best in the league.

That said, the Bucs D line needs to bring it next week, hopefully at home against the Rams.

    Hi 🐻! And Bucs!

  45. Robert Says:

What is the word ME moderated now….sheet. I been a good soldier lately.

  46. AMI_Chris Says:

So they could edge out Taylor Heinicke? I don’t think so.

  47. David Says:

Game ball…. O line as a whole or the tackles- Smith and Wirf

  48. MadMax Says:

TB and CG gonna have a lil talk….thats fo dm sure

And Bowles playing so much zone, why? Come on man!!

AND RUN THE BALL BEHIND WIRFS for goodness sakes!! Soooo many times i saw it and they wouldnt take advantage of it…WTF you scared of Leftwich?

GB wont be a mfn joke!!!

  49. stpetebucsfan Says:

There were two plays in the game that were sick! If we had lost I wouldn’t have mentioned them because I’d be a sore loser. But we won so I do mention them simply to put Washington’s success in perspective.

The first toe tap catch on that PERFECT throw to the end zone was totally sick.
Football is a game of inches but that play couldn’t have been inbounds by an entire inch…maybe a 1/2 inch.

Then the toe drag bobbled ball grab. Not sure it was a TD but we got a call on Davis PI that wasn’t called and that play was sooo incredible complete with a quick toe tap to get the second foot in bounds.

Point is we shouldn’t see two miracles like that. You could give any QB in the league ten throws and he wouldn’t hit more than 1 or two of them. They were both incredibly throws and catches.

Given no D White I thought we played OK. Rather play great but as the man said a win is a win is a win.

  50. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

I panicked in the 3rd. Brady is the difference maker. Dude just knows how and wills teams to wins.

It’s been too long for a playoff game, much less a win. Relish this Bucs fans. It’s hard to beat any team 3 straight times. New Orleans might have their hands full.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  51. Dreambig Says:

So happy to have won! Will sit back and enjoy it. Tomorrow will think about how once again the Bucs find a way to make a high school QB look like a hall of famer. Its mind numbingly frustrating. Thank God for Tom Brady!

  52. Dreambig Says:

Oh, and Thanks Dungy for having our back tonight. Lol.

  53. AJ Says:

Found myself actually apologizing to Brady. That he has to deal w Buc-Luck around him.. But he has overcome it all year, thats why he is the 🐐!

  54. mg Says:

The massholes up here are lost in the fog of coach bill. Its a glorious sight. TB-12 makes everyone better. Go Bucs.

  55. 813bucboi Says:

Godwin had the worst game of his career….I hope he doesn’t turn into Horace grant….

    GO BUCS

  56. Bucfan81 Says:

The defense sucked tonight but I am not putting all the blame on Bowles. I think we have a talent issue on the back end and the only person I have confidence in is Winfield JR. The rest wouldn’t even be starting on any other NFL team. It’s time to sign some proven CB cause Jason can’t seem to draft them.

  57. MadMax Says:

@AJ, you and me both lol….we needed a properly prescribed prescription to get things fixed and going here, and he’s the main ingredient.

  58. Rod Munch Says:

To think there were a bunch of idiots on this board who thought the Bucs should have signed Teddy Bridgewater. LOL!

  59. Kentucky Buc Says:

Rojo in an interview a little while back said the players call Brady 6 Time now. Much better than that long moniker your using. And hell if that’s what Rojo Calls him that’s good enough for me.

  60. ItzOK Says:

Brady is mother f cking perfect. just Wow. I hope the rest of the team that sit the bed around him learns from their first playoff win.

The defense has got to pick it up. If heinikken can pick them apart drew brees will have a field day. Where is Shaq and JPP? they must produce some pressure

  61. Youngbucs Says:

Rod munch seriously we all know who your choice was for QB but I digress.

  62. John rodgers Says:

Great win,as a former teacher, time for grades : Bucs offense, B plus, without the drops could have been A . Overall defense gets a C , invisible secondary “pass defense” gets a solid F. Second semester starts next week. Defense must get grades up or whole team will flunk out of playoffs! John, the grader:

  63. Listnfrmafar Says:

If Bowles spent as.much time on game plans as he does interview prep we would be shutting out every team. Brady is the Messiah, follow me little lambs and I will take you to the promised land! Bowles you can wait for the next bus.

  64. TheSucksBuc Says:

We went on the road and won a playoff game for the first time since 2002 and without 5 starters in the lineup, all of them very much key personnel. That is pretty impressive, as is scoring 31 points against a good defense. Let’s focus on that.
